The attitude of university students to future family and parenting
VALVODOVÁ, Jana
In the 90s of the last century there was a great transformation in family behaviour in the Czech Republic. Values and value orientation changed and so did the attitude towards the traditional division of roles in the family. Young people have a lot of possibilities related to their career and lifestyle (singles), which do not always correspond with a traditional form of life together (marriage). The aim of the Bachelor´s thesis was to find out the attitude of students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice towards the institute of marriage and parenting. A partial aim was to discover whether the students prefer marriage or alternative forms of life together and their view of family and professional life, division of roles of a man and woman in a family and their attitudes towards parenting. The theoretical part includes the description of problems of a family, marriage and parenting. I also deal with the roles of a man-father, woman-mother, university education, employment of women and dual-career marriages. I got this information through a content analysis of secondary data. The research part was carried out in the form of quantitative examination. The data were acquired through the method of questioning, the technique of questionnaire. The research results suggest that the institutes of family and marriage are still very important for the university students. The vast majority of the university students want to live in a marriage. However, most of them prefer to get married after a certain period of life together. Having finished their bachelor´s degree, the students largely give priority to go on to study for a master´s degree before they establish a family. Most of the students plan to be married with two children, with the first child being born after they finish their studies or even longer. The research results bring information on future family behaviour of university students and their attitudes towards further studies. The results may serve as a basis for next research related to behaviour of present university students after they finish studying.

Matrimony strategies of the Czech aristocracy in the pre-White Mountain period
TARANTOVÁ, Kateřina
The goal of this diploma thesis, Marriage Strategies of the Czech Aristocracy in the Pre-White Mountain Period, is to introduce strategies, which the members of aristocracy, especially the high nobility, exploited in the period before the battle of White Mountain. The choice of partner is understood in this context as a means of self-presentation of an individual and his or her family, and as symbol of the aristocracy's identity in the early modern period. This diploma thesis is based on a database of marriages of Czech aristocrats between 1500 and 1650, utilising available literature and published sources. The thesis analyses these known facts and observes how the above mentioned strategies differed in dependence on the social and property status of the family. Firstly, the requirements when choosing a partner related to social aspects: for example the social group of the bridesroom and bride; whether their marriage was within their social group, or if marriages between a man from knighthood and woman from nobility and vice versa were common; whether brothers and sisters married partners from the same social group or first-borns married partners from higher social groups than their younger siblings, or vice versa. Secondly, there are geographical aspects: for example the region from which men chose their brides; and whether they preferred women of Czech or foreign origin. Finally, the role of religion will be discussed, to determine whether it was a crucial factor when choosing a partner, and whether marriages of people of different beliefs were possible.
Relationship between Marriage and Unmarried Cohabitation in Czech Families
ELTSCHKNEROVÁ, Michaela
The purpose of my bachelor thesis was to compare marriage and unmarried cohabitation on a sample of several couples in order to inform the general public about the differences and opinions of people living in the most common forms of family life. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part I have focused on family issues. I have dealt with the content of the concept of family and with its definition. I have also attempted to map changes undergone by the Czech family before and after 1989. The thesis also describes the individual types of partnerships (marriage and unmarried cohabitation), their characteristics, legal relations and principle differences between them. The purpose of the practical part was to compare marriage and unmarried cohabitation in seven areas relating to the daily functioning and conditions in families. I have used a qualitative research to map potential similarities and differences. The research was conducted by means of semi-structured interviews with three married couples and three unmarried couples selected based on established characteristics. The interviews were conducted with each individual separately. The results of my research have shown that the selected sample of the above mentioned types of families did not demonstrate any specific differences. Therefore we can conclude that the functioning family is the most important and in the end it is actually insignificant whether the partners are married or not.

An attitude of single young women to an institution of the marriage and the parenthood
CIPÍNOVÁ, Dagmar
The issue of marriage and partnership seems to be a rather hot topic considering the number of trial marriages, incomplete families or postponed parenthoods. My baccalaureate work deals with a research in the views and attitudes of nowaday´s young single women to the issues of marriage and parenthood. The information for my baccalaureate work has been acquired using content analysis of secondary data. Quantitative research has been selected for the monitoring of attitudes related to the work´s objectives as well as for the purposes of hypotheses testing. The data collection has been based on the method of interview and the questionnaire technique, the questionnaires containing 26 questions each. In total, one-hundred and forty questionnaires (100 %) have been distributed, one-hundred and five of them (75 %) being fully completed and usable for the research purposes. The questionnaire research was carried out in February and March 2009. The questionnaires were anonymous, pre-tested on a sample of respondents within a preliminary research. The questionnaire technique was designed in order to obtain primary data on the target population selected by random choice among young single women living in the District of České Budějovice, the only precondition being that the research was focussed exclusively on single and childless women. Two of the three determined hypotheses could not be confirmed. The research results have shown that the majority of young women wish to live and obviously will live in a marriage, even if after the lapse of a certain period of trial marriage. Concluding an official marriage or entering into the trial marriage relationship are not predominantly dependent of the level of the education achieved, whereas the length of studies or professional training may play a certain role. As far as starting a family is concerned, marriage does not pose an essential pre-condition of triggering the wish in a young woman to have a baby. The research has further confirmed the current trend of postponing marriages into a higher age as well as the rising age of women giving birth to their first baby. The results of the presented work reflect the current situation in the attitudes of young single women to the institutions of marriage and parenthood. They present a valuable source of information related to family planning and reproductive behaviour. They may also serve for the purposes of further studies in this field or may be applied as study material within programmes focussed on the given issue.
Opinions of children on traditional family system
KOVÁROVÁ, Michaela
Identically as in other modernised societies, the institution of a family in the Czech Republic has been undergoing such a fundamental transformation in the last fifty years that the question appears if it is possible to speak about the family in the traditional sense of word at present. At present, a traditional family has been becoming the arrangement of life only for a minority of people in the Czech Republic. More than one third of children are born outside the matrimony, many times with the unclear father statute. One half of the concluded matrimonies get divorced. It is possible to conclude that the life without a partner and children becomes more and more widespread, at the expense of traditional family. The theoretical part of work focused on the family, its definition, function, forms of partners coexistence, crises and conflicts in the family and their consequences and the disintegration of the family and its consequences. The goal of the work was to find out the opinions of children from elementary and secondary schools in České Budějovice on the traditional family system. This goal was achieved. The research was performed by means of the method of questioning performed by the technique of the questionnaire. The research complex consisted of pupils of 9th years of elementary schools and pupils of last years of secondary schools in České Budějovice. I fixed the following hypotheses for the research: {\clqq}There exist differences in opinions of pupils of 9th years of elementary schools and pupils of last years of secondary schools.``, {\clqq}Pupils of 9th years of elementary schools as well as last years of secondary schools prefer the marriage to other forms of family arrangement.``, {\clqq}Pupils of 9th years of elementary schools as well as last years of secondary schools prefer the traditional family to other forms of family arrangement.`` All the three hypotheses were confirmed by the research. The thesis aims at serving as source of information for social workers, judges, pedagogical employees, students and other persons interested in family issues.
Social impact of mental anorexy of child patient´s to a family.
ŠOUNOVÁ, Jitka
SOCIAL INPACT OF THE MENTAL ANOREXIA AFFECTING CHILDREN´S PATIENTS ON HE FAMILY In choosing the subject of my degree work I was influenced fundamentally by my experience gained during the department of children´s psychiatry. At thes very interesting work I had opportunity to become acquainted not only with various psychiatric diagnoses but with plenty of human fates in particular. The girls with plenty of human fates in particular. The girls wth mental anorexia were frequent patients of this department. During their long-term and often repeated hospitalization I met both the patients and the whole families. That´s why I could follow the development of the children affected like this and the impact of this illness on the family as well. The mental anorexia is a very grave and lingering illness belonging to the group of disorders in food ingestion. The consequences of this illness for he health can be of an persistent character and it is not exceptional that this illness is even fatal. The therapy is spite of all therapeutical possibilities, the modern psychiatry has at disposal. Therefore, the families of the patients have not only to get over the fear for the life and health of their members, but they have also to overcome longlasting psychological stress connected with the care of the person affected like this. This care can influence the running of the family fundamentally. It often happens that the family has to reduce the professional activities with respect to the exacting care. This can result in aggravation of the economic situation of the family. A considerable lowering of the living standard and the following crisis can take place in families with low incomes. Permanent psychological stress, deterioration of the economic situation and fair for the child can influence also the relations between individual members of the family. It is no exception that this stress has an adverse effect on the marriage of the parents, and that expecially in the case that the marriage was a problematic one as early as before the child fell ill.

Currently, the prevailing tendency in sexually transmitted disease prevention is the preference of primary prevention at primary and secondary schools although statistic research has shown undeniable increase in, for example, the number of HIV positive individuals in the age spectrum above 40 years of age. The teoretic part of the thesis concentrates on matters of relationships, marriage, marriage phases, marriage crises and infidelity followed by an account of the HIV virus history and origin, characteristics of AIDS which develops following the infection by HIV, its mode of transmission and prevention against infection. The objective the thesis has set was to establish the awarness about HIV/AIDS prevention of individuals above 40 years of age and to determine whether or not respondents use barrier methods of contraception when changing their sexual partners. The thesis also aimed at discovering the interest respondents show in the health of their new sexual partner. The research sample involved respondents over 40 years of age ? single, married, divorced, widiwed, cohabitees, registered partners and respondents who have had a new sexual relationship in the past two years. I used quantitative research method, specifically questionnaires, to collect data. Questionnaires have been distributed in Beroun, České Budějovice, Cheb, Jihlava, Nový Jičín, Prague and Příbram. The total number of distributed 100 questionnares (100%) yielded 62% return rate. Hypothesis 1: Individuals over 40 years of age dispose of disorted and inaccurate informatik about HIV/AIDS. Hypothesis 2: More than a half of respondents do not use any barrier cantraception when starting a new sexual relationship. Hypothesis 3: More than a half of respondents do not regest a negative HIV/AIDS test. The research validated all free hypotheses above. Results of the thesis can be Publisher in professional journals to increase public awarnes about HIV/AIDS.
