Biomass use in district heating
Dlouhá, Kristýna ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the utilization of biomass in district heating. The introductory part of the thesis is dedicated to biomass, its division and ways of its utilization for energy purposes. The following section describes in more detail each of the technologies for power generation from biomass. In the third part, a few of our energy cogeneration sources are stated, they use previously mentioned technologies. At the end of the thesis there is a statistical overview of the utilization of biomass in district heating in the Czech Republic over the last 10 years.
Integration of Waste-to-Energy Plant into the District Heating Network with Existing Heating Plant
Kopecký, Václav ; Janošťák, František (referee) ; Putna, Ondřej (advisor)
The main two goals of this thesis are summarization of current state of waste management policies in the Czech Republic and introduction of possibilities connected with waste-to-energy strategy. This thesis is divided to 4~sections, each of them focused around different part of this complex problem, or issues directly connected to it. In the first part, state of waste management in the Czech Republic is discussed from several different points of view. Then, district heating is introduced as a solid platform for waste-to-energy facilities. The last two chapters present several other issues, connected with construction of new waste-to-energy plants and methods of optimization of long term rentability models.
Biomass Heating Power Plant Brno-nord
Saňka, Marek ; Skála, Zdeněk (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The master’s thesis topic is the feasibility study of new biomass source construction in power heating plant Brno-North. The first part is focused on historical and current conditions and future development of heat distributions networks and sources of Brno. The power heating plant operation Brno-North is described in more detail including the current heat scheme of operation and plan for the future development. Next chapters are focused on projection of new biomass source. At first, it is defined heat output, operation range and parameters of the new source based on the data of real needs after the heating network modernization. Afterward, selected conceptual variants of the new source are discussed in more detail and for each of the variants are performed heat balance calculation and assembled heat scheme of operation. At the same time it is processed warehouse management calculation and economic analysis of the project. The final chapter evaluates the technical and economic parameters of variants and recommends the most suitable variant of the project.
Assessment of transfer line exchanger
Hradil, Lukáš ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This theses work is concerned with assessment of transfer line exchanger behind pusher furnace. First part is describing technical characteristic and parametres. The most important part of this theses is thermic calculation of the boiler. Last following part is concerned with suggestions of constructional modifications of heating surface for proper functioning of boiler. These modifications are demonstrated by scheme in the enclosure.
Biomass in heating systems of cities and villages - II
Tomšů, Ondřej ; Pavlas, Martin (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
The work deals with district heating systems in towns and villages. It presents the heating supply system, features the history of district heating in the Czech Republic, divided into several characteristic periods and future outlook. The next chapter deals with the division and a description of heat sources. There are statistics shown in the use of district heating systems in the Czech Republic and European countries. A large part of the work is devoted to fuels used in heat sources and their distribution. The main emphasis is put on biomass, there are described all the important parameters, and its species, methods of processing and utilization for getting the heat. The work is concerned with cogeneration technology, which uses the joint production of heat and electricity, there are listed its main advantages and described trigeneration technology. The final part is devoted to the financial aspect of district heating systems. There are listed examples of effective projects, given the example of heat station with a very short period of return of investment and a final assessment of the economic and technological performance of new and existing district heating systems.
Biomass in heating systems of cities and villages - I
Soudek, Ondřej ; Pavlas, Martin (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
Point of this bachelor’s thesis is in acquainting with district heating problems. Emphases is posed for a technologic items of this system. Present trend is the cause of dissemination of biomass utilization in district heating over liberal possibility of distribution of heating. So bachelor’s thesis deal with vignette common fossil fuel. A new district heating system realization visualize extensive project and include project of thermal source, junction exchange station and heat distribution.
The analysis of current status and risks for future development of district heating industry in the Czech Republic
Juříček, Vlastimil ; Loužek, Marek (advisor) ; Hladík, Miroslav (referee)
The goal of the thesis is identification and analysis of key risks for Czech district heating sector with focus on coal availability and impact of the EU regulatory measures. In the Czech Republic district heating sector is an important part of energy industry. It serves heating needs of 1.5 million households and substantial amount of industry needs. Currently the question of possible brown coal shortage is becoming urgent. Dynamically changing regulatory framework generating requirements for additional investments is destabilizing. The sector is defined, its competitiveness is evaluated and further the risks are analyzed. Based on brown coal market analysis it is concluded that the current market situation can be considered as stabilized. In the long term perspective the question of possible lifting of the coal mining limits remains crucial. It is concluded that impacts of the EU regulatory measures can't be objectively evaluated at the moment. But it can be assumed that most of district heating companies will be finally able to meet the requirements.
Investments in Energy Sector through the Lenses of Valuation
Tezner, Karel ; Heřman, Jan (advisor) ; Bílek, Milan (referee)
The main research goal is to identify specifics of energy utilities generating electricity and heat from a valuation perspective. To fulfill this goal, the electricity and district heating sector, their characteristic, economic aspects and related regulation have been described. Having weighted possible valuation approaches, the author has decided to opt for both the DCF method and the method using market multiples. The former has been extended by Monte Carlo simulation. The financial and strategic analysis, analysis of key value drivers, financial plan and valuation itself has been thoroughly done. There have been 7 values of equity derived according to a method used and assumptions considered. The variability of outcomes indicates the need for a correct consideration of relevant factors while compiling valuation. These factors are as follows: costs of inputs and their impacts on the entity's operation, price of electricity and heat, life cycle, technological parameters and ecological regulation.
