Motivations behind the naming of descendents, and the changes in such naming throughout generations

Résumé The topic of this paper is a survey into the motivations behind the naming of descendents, and the changes in such naming throughout generations. The survey found that when choosing names for their children, parents take into account various factors. The level of influence of these factors undergoes a change throughout time. 396 samples (children) were obtained for assessment from a total of 212 respondents (parents). The aforementioned children were born within the period commencing in the 1940s and stretching up to the present time - 2011. Altogether, it could be said that the sound of the name itself influences the naming process the most. This is closely followed by aspects of agreement between first name and Christian name, semantics of the specific name and family tradition. All motivations have undergone some degree of change throughout time. The most notable changes are a permanent fall in the influence of family tradition and a permanent rise in other categories of influence. Among the latter we can find those concerning the sound of the name, agreement with Christian name, and semantics of the name. Minor Place-names in the Žďársko Region

This bachelor thesis contains 190 minor place-names from a part of the Žďársko region. Three types of minor place-names, which correspond to the three main chapters, are examined: hydronyms, oronyms and land names. The minor place-names belonging to a given group are listed alphabetically in each section. Each name is given the type of geographical unit and sources from which it was read out. The main objective of this work is to determine the origin of the examined anoikonyms. This research deals with word formation analysis and distribution of minor place-names into groups according to their significance. Various methods of collection, analysis and interpretation of the collected data were applied to create this work. A number of different printed materials, journals and internet resources were used to explain all the examined entries. It was necessary to attend an interview with witnesses or experts in the discipline of analysis, too.
Metaphorical patterns in onomastics recognizable by pupils and students

This dissertation thesis deals with metaphorical patterns in a specific language material - names for partner (pet names) as recognizabled by pupils of age 14 to 16 and students of age 18 to 20. Names for partner, i. e. ways of mutual calling between a two people making a couple, were selected due to its strong metaphorical character. Their ambiguous affiliation with proper names, or common name enabled critical evaluation of structural and functional definition of proper names as well. Furthemore they enable to present a cognitive view on proper names especially based on emphasizing the conotative part of meaning and metaphorical nature of humans' thinking. The research was based on questionnaire divided into two parts and group and individual interviews with girls. The sufficient lexicological material gained due to the first part of questionnaire became a matter of metaphorical conceptualizations' analysis dealing with conceptualizations of partner (love). Thanks to the individual interviews the communication and pragmatic analysis of names for partner was performed. Second part of questionnaire and group interviews with girls enabled the detailed analysis of connotations and metaphorical perception of thirteen names intended for ladies.

This thesis deals with the onomastic theme, specifically areas of antrhoponomastics, which deals with the origin, formation, frequency and nature of personal names. The goal of this thesis is an analyzis the most common anthroponyms in the area of Dačice. The analysis and classification of the obtained materials are based on study of onomastic literature.
Oikonyma and Anoikonyma in Rokycany

The aim of the bachelor thesis is a summary and analysis of current files of the local and place names in the town of Rokycany and its surrounding areas. The material used was obtained by field research that was carried out in several villages in the district of Rokycany. The work includes delimitation and characteristics of the researched territory, a description of typical characteristic features of the local and place names, its categorisation and analysis of the gathered material.
To the Issue Anthroponyms

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of personal names and hypokoristics and nicknames created from them. The aim of the thesis is to provide data on anthroponym status in the current school environment. Due to the field of study, the material was obtained by means of questionnaires, which were submitted to pupils of the second grade of the selected elementary school. The research part follows the theoretical part, which deals with onomastics as a linguistic discipline and defines in more detail the issue of anthroponyms, birth names, hypocoristics and nicknames.
The issue of naming watercourses

The theme of bachelor's work is the issue of naming watercourses. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The first part contains theoretical knowledge of onomastics. Closer focuses on toponymics, anoikonyms and hydronyms, i.e. proper names of watercourses. The practical part deals with linguistic analysis and characterization of the set of names of rivers, ponds and streams in the Vysočina Region, (or) more precisely in Jihlava district. The aim of this work is to contribute to the onomastic names of the Vysočina Region.

This thesis focuses on the onomastics of the citizens of the city Hradec Králové. The analysis focuses on the first names of children born between 1980 and 2017. The classification and analysis of the subject is based on specialist literature and traditional classification methods. The objective of the thesis is to capture the development of the first names of children born in the Hradec Králové hospital and to help future parents to choose a name for their children.
