Development of the Approach to Social Exclusion from the Point of View of Publications Intended for Social Work
SEVELKOVÁ, Eva
This bachelor thesis has set two goals. The first of them is to map the presentation of socially disadvantaged people from the point of view of publications intended for social work. The second goal is to map the recommended approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people from the perspective of publications intended for social work. In order to achieve the set goals, a qualitative research strategy and a method of document analysis were chosen. For data processing, a categorical system was used. The research has found that socially disadvantaged people are presented in a very diverse way in the analyzed publications, which reflects the reality of a wide range of clients for whom social work services are intended. Books have often included attributes that may be inherent in people who are affected by social exclusion or at risk of it. By contrast, features related to the process of social exclusion on the part of society were often neglected. From this predominance of attributes on the part of individuals, the reader may get the false impression that social exclusion is mostly a matter of individual inadequacy or a certain personal handicap, and that the role of society in the process of social exclusion (or excluding) is not crucial. The definition of recommended approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people is understood differently across publications. It is important, however, that in most of the analyzed books these approaches were listed, and in some cases even specified in more detail, which means that familiarity with approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people is essential for appropriate and professional practice of this profession.
Risks of Social Exclusion of Seniors Living in Home Enviroment
HŮLKOVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the risks of social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment. The aim of the thesis is to find out the risks of social exclusion among seniors living separately and to identify reasons which lead seniors living in the home environment to the disuse of social services. This work is divided into two parts - the theoretical one and the empiric one. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of principal terms concerning the bachelor thesis. In the empirical part, there are stated two exploratory questions concerning the risks of social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment and the reasons which lead seniors living in the home environment to the disuse of social services. For obtaining the answers to the highlighted exploratory questions were used several methods, such as a qualitative investigative strategy, interviewing, and a technic of a semistructured interview. The investigative sample was formed by six informants, which were chosen in a combination of two methods of selection - the snowball method and quota sampling. Physical health, as one of the many risks, can lead to the social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment. The results further point to limited financial means, reduced self-sufficiency, and reduced social interactions. For example, low foreknowledge about social services, their negotiation and financial valuation, self-sufficiency, assurance of proceeding care and disposal of the sphere of close people can be seen as possible reasons that lead to the disuse of social services. The results may be beneficial for increasing awareness of the public about risks that lead to social exclusion. Further, they could serve as feedback to organisations providing social services to increase the foreknowledge about the services they provide.
Social work with clients using social housing
VOLMÚTOVÁ, Martina
This diploma thesis focuses on the use of social work in the area of social housing. The main goal of this thesis is to analyse the performance of social work with clients using social housing, with an emphasis on the level of positive impact on the client's living conditions. In the preparation of this thesis, qualitative techniques for data collection were employed, namely the analysis of documents and semi-structured interviews. Based on the data collected, two case studies were drawn up which contain descriptions of basic information about the participants in the research and, consequently, their progress in the area of social housing. Research has shown that social work in the area of social housing plays a critical role. In order to succeed, the agencies involved must not only work with the social housing clients directly, but also cooperate among themselves. The methods and techniques of social work chosen to be employed in any particular social housing area depend on the specific problems of the client. However, social workers often use techniques similar to, and including, motivational interviews, counselling and the implementation of a task-centred approach. An integral part of any process is the client's motivation to change. Should the client remain only a passive user of the service and not actively cooperate with their social worker and other social services, change will not happen in either the housing area or in regards to the social and financial circumstances of the family. This work is designed to serve as an insight into the general issues of people with housing difficulties and the efforts and cooperation of a council's social worker, and other relevant social services dealing with this issue.

Social Exclusion as a Determinant of Health in the Old age
BASTLOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to find out in which areas (social relations, health status, civic amenities, financial situation, housing, etc.) seniors over the age of 65 who live in the home environment face social exclusion. In the theoretical part, I defined the basic concepts related to the topic of the bachelor's thesis, which I divided into three parts. In the first part, I dealt with the health factors of social exclusion. In the next part I dealt with the psychological factors of social exclusion and in the third part I dealt with the social factors of social exclusion. In the practical part, research questions concerning the causes of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home and activities that lead to the elimination of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home were set. A qualitative research strategy was chosen for the research, a method of questioning with the technique of semi-structured interview. The research group was selected using a technique called "Snowball" and consisted of seven seniors who lived in their own households in the district of Tábor. The research revealed a link between health status and social exclusion, due to an unfavorable health condition. The results of qualitative research will serve as information material for the elderly population, which is particularly affected, but also for social workers and the general public.
