Příběh Georga Placzka (Nová fakta o jeho pozoruhodném životě a práci)
Gottvald, Aleš
The world's distinguished theoretical physicist Georg Placzek (1905-1955) cooperated with many legendary physicists of the first half of the twentieth century, yet this native of Brno is almost unknown in his homeland. Placzek's contributions to theoretical physics are important and still vivid. He was also an active participant of a number of history-making moments. In particular, he was a leader of a theoretical group in the Manhattan project – as the only citizen of Czechoslovakia. We bring many new facts, documents and photographs about Georg Placzek, his remarkable life, work and family. Many of these materials have never been published elsewhere.
Measurement of temperature characteristics of resistivity of Cu bulk
Bartušek, Karel ; Fiala, P.
This contribution brings results of numerical modeling during design of measurement method for determine of thermal characteristic of specific resistance of Cu bulk. Combine of numerical modeling and experimental verification brings very effective procedure during suggestion and application in cryogenic region. Result of this work are used in research activities of Czech Academy of Science, ISI-Brno.
Evaluation of cognitive ERP, ERD/ERS from intracerebral electrodes during the testing of executive functions, the time – frequency analysis
Chládek, Jan ; Bočková, M. ; Halámek, Josef ; Jurák, Pavel ; Nestrašil, I. ; Rektor, I.
In the present paper we describe the procedure of evaluation repeated EEG signals obtained from deep brain structures. Data are processed using the time-frequency analysis, which helps to determine individual frequency (IF) bands and afterwards are processed using complex demodulation technique to assess power envelope of IF band. We analysed phase-locked (Event-Related Potentials) and non-phase-locked (Event Related De/Synchronisation) signals obtained during different task conditions. Because of low signal to noise ratio, statistical tests of credibility and significance were used.
PDS 2004 - Proceedings of the works of the PhD students of the Electron optics department
Müllerová, Ilona
The electron microscopy and optics have long term tradition in Brno and now the development and production of microscopes in Brno rapidly increases. So, strong need arises for education of a new generation of specialists. Experience had shown that there have to be a high proportion of workers with scientific education and scientific approach to solve the problems in the electron microscope industry. These are the reasons, why the Electron optics department of the Institute of Scientific Instruments educates students of postgraduate study in a number nearly equal to a number of scientific workers. In 2002 the board of the Electron optics department decided to organize annually the Seminar of postgraduate students, where the works of PhD students in all stages of their study will be orally presented. Moreover, it decided to publish these works in a special volume in the form of extended abstracts of two- to four-pages. Now, third volume of this proceeding, PDS 2004, has been published.
Development of the Electron beam micromachining device
Zobač, Martin
The paper describes micromachining with an intense electron beam. Main goal is a study of the electron beam interaction with metallic and/or nonmetallic materials. Design of vacuum system, electron gun and electronics of the experimental device is introduced.
The quantification of the detection efficiency of the secondary electron detector in SEM
Konvalina, Ivo
This work is focused on the simulations of the collection efficiency of the Everhart-Thornley (ET) detector of the secondary electrons (SE). The aim of this work is to study the influences of the electrostatic and magnetic fields and geometrical parameters in the specimen chamber, that influence the particle transport from the specimen region to the detector.
Wave-optical contrasts in the ultra-high vacuum scanning electron microscope
Hovorka, Miloš
This work deals with wave-optical contrasts in the ultra-high vacuum scanning low-energy electron microscope. The aim of the study is to demonstrate the selected contrasts in the scanning microscope and work out the physical analog describing their origin.
Design of diffractive elements manufactured on electron-beam lithograph BS600
Daněk, Lukáš
The goal of this work is to evolve techniques to design diffractive elements of required diffractive properties. The work mainly deals with design of exposition data correspondent to chosen technological conditions.
