Patient's perception of nursing practice provided by students of nursing.
ČÍŽKOVÁ, Marie
The topic of the thesis is "Patient's perception of nursing practice provided by students of nursing?. Nursing practice during the study is an important factor helping make a good nurse from a student. It is the combination of theory and practice in general nursing students which is essential for the educational process improvement. In nursing practice, it is important to interact with patients. Everything happens through interaction and communication, which is significant in terms of the professional conduct every medical staff member should learn during the study. This ability leads to the establishment and development of contacts with the patient and greatly affects the way the patient perceives the nurse. The aim of thesis is "To find out how the patient perceives the students performing nursing practice in hospital.? Therefore, the following hypotheses were stated: Hypothesis 1: "I assume the patients respect the students in nursing practice," which was confirmed, Hypothesis 2: "I assume that patients are scared of some nursing procedures provided by students,? cannot be confirmed, and Hypothesis 3: "I assume that younger patients are more critical to practicing students than older patients," cannot be confirmed. The second aim of the thesis is ?To find out how the patient perceives the students practicing in hospital?. This relates to Hypothesis 4: "I assume that patients are satisfied with the nursing students´ practice," which was confirmed. Another part of the thesis was answering the stated research questions. 1st research question was "What leads the patients to refuse a nursing procedure provided by students?" These were mainly the lack of the students´ experience, the patients´ distrust of the students and the patients´ pain and shame. 2nd research question was "Are the patients informed that there are students performing nursing practice in this ward?" 2 of 4 patients were informed about this fact. To obtain the necessary data both the qualitative and quantitative research were used. The qualitative research was carried out through non-standardized interviews. The quantitative research method was a questionnaire survey. The questionnaires were designed for patients at the departments where the general nursing students´ practice takes place. The questionnaire survey and non-standardized interviews were conducted in České Budějovice Hospital, plc.

Utilization of the concept of Basal stimulation in the nursing process for apallic syndrome.
MÁŠOVÁ, Renata
The topic of this diploma paper is ``The Use of the Basal Stimulation Concept in Nursing Provided to Apalic Syndrome Patients{\crqq}. I have chosen this topic because I took part in a basal stimulation course and in order to describe the use of this concept in nursing. Basal stimulation is a programme for nursing. Thanks to its scientific basis and empathetic approach, basal stimulation is acquiring more and more sympathizers among nurses as well as physicians. It is a complex of nursing methods based on the use of appropriate stimuli instigating neural complexes. It has been proven that such impulses contribute to the regeneration of engrammes and facilitate overall rehabilitation of the patient. The concept of basal stimulation helps after craniocerebral injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, in comatose conditions and in apalic syndrome. The paper is divided into two sections. The first one is theoretical and it deals with the apalic syndrome and provides a detailed description of the basal stimulation concept. The other section, a practical one, provides the descriptions of individual case reports with a nursing plan based on the basal stimulation concept. The effects of this concept are assessed according to observations and questioning of nursing staff and family members. The observation of patients with the apalic syndrome has led us to conclude that the basal stimulation concept has very pleasing effects on the patients. This method has been incorporated into everyday nursing process and it should become a common standard in nursing. Frequently, the health state of such clients is stabilized for a long time and the prognosis is not favourable; the prevention of potential complications is mostly at play here. This scientific method has positive effects on such patients as seen by nursing staff as well as family members. It maintains the patient{\crq}s comfort, individual approach and a holistic being. The care for these seriously ill people is very physically and mentally demanding at common wards. Therefore, we think that it is necessary to establish specialized apalic units where such patients would receive individual care based on the basal stimulation concept. This care is practicable as much as possible in cooperation with family members and nursing staff providing all possible aids and background.

Cognitive predispositions affected by degree of brain masculinity and femininity
PIXA, David
This thesis is concerned with gender-related differences of cognitive predispositions. Findings could be utilized predominantly in human resource management, pedagogy and psychology. The research was proceeded as a case study of 45 undergraduate students. Individual degree of masculinity/femininity (gender) was indicated by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), while cognitive preferences were measured and described by Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI). Another data were obtained by means of qualitative research methods, such as participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Besides, in general features were surveyed hand-lateral-preference, professional orientation and attention capability. All probands were divided into 6 categories according to gender and degree of MF. Synthesis of MMPI and HBDI results showed significant congruence between the gender-categories and a dominant preference of the HBDI{\crq}s cognitive styles: Masculine men {--} a dominant preference of A-mode (analytical thinking). Feminine men {--} a dominant preference of D-mode (imaginative thinking). Masculine women {--} a dominant preference of B-mode (sequential thinking). Feminine women {--} a dominant preference of C-mode (interpersonal thinking). This findings were in accordance with a professional orientation of the probands (regardless of the field of study they have choosen). Right-brain dominant students (mostly feminine men) were not well-adjusted to a classical passive teaching metods.
Students´ perception of doctors
VOLNÝ, Hynek
Dissertation Abstract {--} Students{\crq} Perception of Doctors My dissertation consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part proceeds from the following theories; personality and nurse personality theory, practical focus of FSHS`s students, social perception, social motivation in terms of nurses {--} doctors - students relationship, the meaning of the medical staff team work, social status of Nursing staff, a nurses{\crq} image, conflicts within working relationships and the importance of communication within the medical staff team. Within the practical part, I conducted a survey. I applied the Semantic Differential Theory by Osgood in the questionnaires distributed; each questionnaire consisted of ten questions; seven closed and three half-open. The survey was conducted among FSHS{\crq}s students in their second and third year of the General Nurse Bachelor studies and those in their first and second year of Nursing postgraduate studies. The 151 questionnaires were distributed both electronically and hard copies. I received 105 questionnaires, from which I excluded seven due to faulty completion. With this I have taken 98 (68 %) of the questionnaires into account. My goal is to discover how doctors are perceived by those FSHS{\crq}s students who have gained some work experience within their studies. There is a positive response of two thirds within questions investigating students{\crq} perceptions of doctors in the sense of their work relationships; hence I can conclude that the hypothesis H1: Students have a good working experience with doctors at the Ceske Budejovice Hospital has been proved. With regards to the questions about students{\crq} perceptions of their status during the work experience, I divide their answers into three groups; 40% of students (40) do not have any specific feelings, 29% of them (28) find their status positive and 31% (31) express an antagonistic opinion. Following the results stated above, the hypothesis H2: Students perceive that they are closely involved in the team work during their work experience can be viewed as unproved. As for my assessment of the semantic differential, hypothesis H3: Students{\crq} perceptions of doctors are biased has been proved. Analysing answers for each study year separately, this shows that students are both positively and negatively biased towards doctors. However, this does not apply to the assessment from the general point of view; it can be said that students are biased positively towards doctors. Hypothesis H4, which investigates if the age of students can influence the frequency of their bias towards doctors, has not been proved. It can be concluded both from the answers analysis, in which is obvious that bias frequency is not descendent but a change in their nature, and from the statistic data analysis by `Chi square test{\crq}, which has not proved any relation between the age and the bias. My dissertation is intended as a useful starting point for further research of a status and perception of students, nurses and doctors. As the author, I would recommend increasing the amount of respondents in the research in order to signify the results concluded.
