Network access systems with biometric authentication technology
HANZAL, Vlastimil
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to process available variations of biometric methods which are used for an automatic identification or verification of people based on their anatomical-physiological or behavioural characteristics that are supposed to be unique, stable over time, practically measurable and technologically processable. These methods have already been used for hundreds of years for the identification of people and for various solutions of security. Today, these biometric methods are improved and connected with the modern information technology. The advantage of biometric methods is based on the identification of the basic essence of a man. Therefore, they are characterized by a high degree of protection against misuse and to following misuse of identity in comparison to a simple function of identification chip or another identification medium. The theoretical part consists of a description of a professional terminology primarily of a description of the biometrical authentication methods. Further on, there is an implementation of analysis of available solutions of biometrical systems in the environment of the Czech market. The choice of the biometrical system for the application in the practical part of this project has been made based on this information. Own project of authentication people at primary school with a help of used biometrical methods is proposed in practical part. And this method will be tested on available devices.
The Purpose and Implementation of Fingerprint Scanning in Personal Computers
Varadinov, Petr ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Rais, Aziz Ahmad (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with fingerprint recognition applied in personal computers. The topic is analyzed both chronologically in historical context and in connection with other biometric methods. The thesis provides a comprehensive survey of the topic. It starts with physical layer, goes through hardware parts and ends with software architecture. A special attention is paid to programming fingerprint recognition support into end-user applications. These are the aims of the thesis: to place the silicon fingerprint sensing technology into the historical context and describe its evolution in connection with personal computers till the present times, to provide the results of market research of fingerprint sensors used in personal computers, to work out the summary of the functions the end-users have at their disposal, to present the market research results of fingerprint software, to work out the overview and the comparison of available software development kits (SDKs) and that of application programming interfaces (APIs) used for the described fingerprint sensor devices, and last but not least to develop a demonstration application that communicates with a fingerprint sensor device. Technical literature, market researches together with my own experience from the work in this field were used so as to meet the set aims. As for the demo application of this technology it is my own innovative approach. The thesis is divided into seven chapters where Chapter II -- Chapter VI directly deal with the mentioned topics. The completion of a missing angle of approach to the subject from end-users' and application programmers' perspective is the main asset of this thesis. The work also allows orientation on the silicon fingerprint sensor market and fingerprint software market. Moreover it shows possibilities how to extend this technology, it provides a detailed analysis of the software layer and presents programming samples showing that show how to use this technology. The demo application allowing audio volume control by a fingerprint device is an innovation in the branch of computer input devices.

Market analysis SW systems making use of biometric methods.
Kolinger, Martin ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Benáčanová, Helena (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with biometric devices designed for enterprise content security. The focus is primarily oriented on individual units and sets of devices, which are available on the Czech market. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is providing the reader with clear information on biometric systems designed to protect corporate and other types of content against unauthorised persons and in addition it helps to gain general knowledge of the whole dilemma of security by biometric data. The objectives were achieved mainly through examination and required offers from various companies which are moving in the line. Searched and gained information forms the greatest benefits of this work, together with multi criteria selection made by the weighted sum, and thus as an result of finding the optimal complex biometric solution for the type company. The basic concepts and principles of the surveyed line are characterised in the first part of the bachelor thesis. Some biometric methods are closely described with the principles of their functionality, advantages and disadvantages which were born into practice. Follow-up part adds some interesting information about the interesting observations in response to biometric line. The following part of this thesis closely approximates statistics of the position of biometric methods in international markets. In the final part of this thesis analysis of biometric equipment is made, which more closely think about separate and complex products from different market sectors. The obtained information is then evaluated using a weighted sum with predetermined criteria and weights. An optimal selected solution is the result of the analysis. The obtained data can also be used as additional materials in the process of selecting a supplier of a biometric system.
Using of biometric methods in IS applications
Šatánek, Josef ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Žid, Norbert (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of selected companies on the Czech biometric market. Performed analysis is focused on biometrics products and offered services in this area. The obtained information is compared with the selected criteria. The final evaluation is done for three groups of costumers, each of the groups have different importance of each criterion. Importance is allocated to each criterion by using paired comparisons. This method is also used to evaluate companies according to various criteria. Sequence of companies for each group of costumers is determined by using weighted sum, where the result of company is sum of results in criterion multiplied by relevant value of weight. The analysis of companies can be taken as supportive documentation for the final selection of vendor of biometrics system. Analysis gives a comprehensive overview of companies, their products and services. It also provides a clear comparison and evaluation of each company result.
