The level of vocabulary among first-year primary school pupils.

The diploma thesis deals with a detection of the level of vocabulary among first-year primary school pupils. Generally, it delimits the speech as such, the meaning of speech for individual{\crq}s life and the relationship between intellect and speech. It also deals with a development of children{\crq}s speech, the question of maturation of abilities children need to prosper in schools, the development of speech and methods of its monitoring. The thesis also discusses the examination and the development of vocabulary range. Moreover, the thesis points out the social influence on speech. With the help of Jaroslav Jirásek{\crq}s test, the thesis examines the level of verbal thinking. Finally, it connects children{\crq}s description of a story picture with an actual parts of speech usage.
Slang of Students
HRUŠKOVÁ, Hana
The topic of my bachelor's work is an analysis of student slang at five secondary school in Pelhřimov. My work is divided into two parts - teoretical and practical. In teoretical part I focuse on development and sturcture of national language then I describe the slang and next the student slang. In first part I show how slang get started according to onomaziologic procedures. The practical part deals with slang derived material and its distri-bution according to onomazilogiie. The target of my work is about grasping nowadays student slang at five secondary schools in Pelhřimov and their comparing.
The Role of Context in Teaching Vocabulary.
TVARŮŽKOVÁ, Monika
This thesis deals with two different approaches to teaching vocabulary at the basic school. The first approach is based on guessing from context, the other, the traditional method, consists in learning isolated translations from a list. The results of the research also show the role the context plays in dependence on the age of the learners. The author provides a theoretical background to define the difference between the two methods, which are verified in the practical part. The effectiveness of the presentations, established on one of these approaches, is immediately tested and evaluated in the end.
Foreign words in the speech of teenagers
NOVOTNÁ, Alena
The diploma thesis is focused on the speech of teenagers from the point of view of using foreign words. It contains two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part briefly characterizes the language, the word and the vocabulary system. Then it is also focused on the ways of enrichment of the vocabulary of the Czech language, mainly on the borrowings. The practical part is based on the analysis of the results from a language questionnaire which was filled in by the pupils from the seventh and ninth classes and by the students from the second and fourth grades. The analysis of the questionnaires should help us to find out, if teenagers understand foreign words, if they use them and if they prefer foreign words to the Czech synonyms. The questionnaire contains foreign words of different ages, different origins and from different branches.
