Problems of practical teaching of nurses from the perspective of students and nurses
VLČKOVÁ, Darina
The education of nurses, as well as other non-doctor medical workers, has seen significant changes in the course of the past twenty years. In compliance with current legislation, the studies of general nurses only take place at universities and colleges these days. The schooling of nurses consists of theoretical and practical education. Both of them mingle and supplement each other during the complete course of the studies. Theoretical part consists of general as well as special subjects which are followed by practical schooling. This takes place at and ambulatory, ward, one-day and home-based sanitary facilities.Three aims of dissertation were set at the beginning of the research. First was to find about factors which influence the cooperation of students and nurses during the practical session. Second was based on finding factors with influence on nurse's conduct of the practical session. The last aim was to find about factors which motivate and de-motivate students during the practical session. For the purpose of gaining the data, two groups were established. First was the group of seven female students studying the combined form of subject field ?general nurse? at ZSF JU, all of them having received medical education before. Second was the group of nurses working at České Budějovice Hospital, Inc. For the purpose of data collection, the qualitative method of inquiring through semi-standardized interviews was chosen. The answer to the question ? what factors most often influence the cooperation of students and nurses during the practical session? ? was defined by their cooperation, chiefly by the way of their mutual conduct. This was the essential factor pervading all areas of the research. The other important factor applies to the groups of five or more female students where nurses did not have enough time for the students. The other important question was: what influences nurses' conduct of the practical session? As the main positive influence, the interest of students to learn new things as well as their dilligence was cited. The main obstacle in this process, according to nurses, is the lack of time which is devoted to students in order to teach them or show them the aspects of the profession. Demands and challenges of the profession also contribute to the factor cited above. The last but not least factor is the negative influence of large group of students being part of the same shift at the department. And the factors that motivate students during the practical session? It is obvious that the key factor is the possibility to gain information and enough capacity to perform medical actions. At the same time, the students expect helpful and accomodating personnel possessing enough time and patience which should be devoted to them. On the contrary, the factors which de-motivate students are negative attitude and conduct of nurses at departments, too many students grouped into a shift and few opportunities to perform expert medical action. All interviews suggest that improvement could be accomplished through permanent presence of mentors or expert tutors from the faculty who would have enough time for students. It is suggested that data and information from research could be used at clinical facilities for the purpose of practical sessions. The persons responsible for practical sessions could use those data and information to make the practice and cooperation more effective. Information could be used as a base for seminar for shift nurses who get in touch with students on a daily basis. Furthermore, the outputs of research could serve as recommendations for students which could lead to their improvement. Above all, the research serves as a topic for reflection and insight into both worlds.

RAKUŠANOVÁ, Lucie
The Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice offers students of midwifery the internships in Finnish town Kemi and in Namibian town Keetmanshoop. According to the final reports, students who return from the placements are very satisfied. This is mainly due to the practical skills gained by the management of the local midwives. One of the objectives of this thesis was to find out the specifics of the contribution of the foreign internships for students of midwifery. Another objective was to identify the specifics of the practical training of midwives in Finland and Namibia and to find the opportunities for their integration into the midwives training program in Czech Republic. The theoretical part deals in introduction with the theory and the benefits of the internships abroad. Secondly it deals with the education and the practical training of midwives in Czech Republic and the influence of mentorship on this training. Finally, the theoretical part covers education and practical training of midwives in Finland and Namibia. The qualitative research was used for this thesis, with the structured interviews as the technique of data collection. Five respondents, participants of foreign internships corresponded to ten questions in April 2012. The specific benefits of the internships for students of midwifery that were identified can be used by the foreign department of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies to create promotional materials for the internships abroad. The identified specifics of the practical training in Finland, Namibia and student?s opinions on the application of these specifics into the midwifery training in Czech Republic can serve the practical training guarantors of the faculty as an inspiration to improve and enrich the practical training of midwives in the Hospital Ceske Budejovice. It can particularly help with the selection of practical training mentors and transform theirs and midwives attitude to training of future generations of midwives. Finally, this thesis can also serve as an educational and inspirational material for mentors of practical training.

Practical training from the perspective of a student and nurses executed in the anaesthetic and resuscitation room and intenzive care unit
TOMAŠKOVIČOVÁ, Dana
This Bachelor thesis deals with preparation of students studying the branch of General Nurse for their future profession. It is particularly focused on the practical training at intensive care units and it offers the attitude of a student and nurses who supervise the practical training at these departments. The theoretical part of this Bachelor work describes preparation of students for the profession of a nurse and qualification conditions for this occupation. The work also considers the nurse as an expert who participates in preparation of students in his/her capacity as a mentor. Further, there are mentioned special characteristics of the intensive care at the departments of anaesthesiology and resuscitation and at the departments of the intensive care unit. The practical part deals with four aims which were set at the beginning of the research. The aims are focused on the factors which influence both positively and negatively practical training at the departments of anaesthesiology and resuscitation and at the departments of the intensive care unit. They also try to find out how students benefit from the practical period spent at these departments in order to reach targets they had set. One of the aims is focused on the holistic attitude of students during their practical training. The aims involve three spheres of research questions for both sets of respondents. The research was carried out with the qualitative method using the semi standardized interview with two groups of respondents. The first group consisted of nurses ? mentors from the departments of anaesthesiology and resuscitation and from the departments of the intensive care unit from the hospital in České Budějovice (Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s.) and from the hospital in Písek (Nemocnice Písek a.s.). The second group of respondents was formed by students of the third year of the General Nurse full-time study program at ZSF JU in České Budějovice (South-Bohemian University in České Budějovice). The work presents interviews with both research sets in casuistries and the data from interviews are written into categorizing charts. The aim of the work sums up research results. All research questions were answered and the aims were fulfilled. The research results point out problems which both nurses ? mentors and students during the practical training face. However, the research showed also aspects which require special attention and needs of nurses and students in the process of the practical training. Research results can be used in the establishments which provide students studying the branch of General Nurse with practical training in order to make the training more effective.
The Difference in the Relation of the Nursing Mentor to the Students of Bachelor and Master Education Program.
ALTMANOVÁ, Marie
The master thesis named {\clqq}Differences in the relationships between nurse mentors and Bachelor´s and Master´s degree students`` is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the practical part it was discovered with the aid of the qualitative research, that the nurse mentors does not see differences in the relationships between Bachelor´s and Master´s degree students. The hypothesis stating that the students of Master´s degree programmes enjoy better relationships with mentors than the students of Bachelor´s degree programmes has been disconfirmed. The interviews with the mentors showed that one of the factors affecting the relationships of the nurse mentors to the Master´s and Bachelor´s degree students is the lack of time they have for the students. The results of the questionnaires confirmed the hypothesis stating that the most frequent factor which affects the relationships of students to the mentor is the mentor{\crq}s attention given to them.
Effect of supervising students of Healthy and social faculty to mentor´s nurse attitude at offer nursing care.
SOUKUPOVÁ, Kristýna
This diploma thesis is focused on the influence of teaching students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia in Czech Budejovice on a mentor nurse´s attitude to nursing care provision. In the first chapter of the theoretical section the term nurse is introduced, and it is dealt with her duties, roles, attitudes, it is explained who a mentor nurse is and what topics a pilot certified course contains. The next four chapters are focused on a supervisor´s personality, supervision issues, teachers and their non-traditional roles and the didactic skills of a mentor. The description of a mentor´s didactic skills is divided into education, student diagnostics, teaching goals and classroom practices. The sixth part deals with student clinical practice mentors, their role in clinical practice, assessment and feedback and mentorship as an advancement of nurses´ work. The seventh chapter of the theoretical section introduces the issue of communication as an integral part of nursing practice teaching and in the last section we have focused on the issue of evidence-based nursing. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the impact of nursing practice teaching on a mentor nurse´s attitude to nursing care provision and students´ evaluation of a mentor nurse´s achievements in nursing care provision. The outcomes of the quantitative research, conducted by using a questionnaire method, confirm the hypothesis 1 suggesting that students regard mentor nurses´ nursing procedures as standards for their future practice. We can also confirm the hypothesis 3 suggesting that students believe that a mentor nurse considers the correct information registration into nursing documentation as necessary, and also the hypothesis 2 suggesting that students believe that a mentor nurse can communicate more effectively than other staff nurses was confirmed. Mentor nurses´ attitudes to nursing care provision were identified by using qualitative investigation by asking research questions. Out of the six nurses interviewed, four mentor nurses consider mentorship as knowledge contribution to the field of communication with people, four mentor nurses consider mentorship as stimulation for improving their own expertise, four mentor nurses would be willing to introduce new knowledge into practice and provide nursing care in accordance with the EBN. The knowledge gained form this research work may serve as a suggestion and aid for students planning to carry out clinical nursing practice at a clinic, for nurses who have been working or have been preparing to work as clinic mentor nurses, and certainly for all of those who wish to learn more on this issue and to understand the mentor nurse job.
The integration of students from Faculty of Health and Social Studies to the nursing team from the student´s point of view
BRADOVÁ, Zuzana
The education of nurses takes place in double environment; each of them is equally important (university and clinical practice). One of most important elements, influencing the contribution and quality of the hands-on training, is surely the rate of the integration of students to the nursing staff. The process of the integration is very complex, depending on various factors that may affect it negatively as well as positively. The principal aim of the bachelor work was to determine the rate of the integration of the students of our faculty to a nursing team during the course of training from the point of view of a student from field of study Nurse. I suppose that the objects of the work were fulfilled and the hypotheses, by virtue of the evaluation of results, confirmed.
