Havlická, Kateřina ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Teplá, Jana (referee)
The aim of this paper is to describe media coverage of a suicide that Iveta Bartošová, famous Czech singer, committed the 29th April 2014 in railway in Prague-Uhříněves. It compares the so-called conservative press - Aktuálně.cz, Novinky.cz, Lidovky.cz and iDNES.cz - and the yellow press represented by Super.cz, Extra.cz and Blesk.cz. The paper covers a period of time from the suicide to the singer's funeral which took place the 12th May 2014 and it examines in what way and with what means all mentioned websites informed their readers, how many articles were published, what were the topics of each website or what mistakes (grammatical or any other) did they do. It looks for differences not only between the conservative and the yellow press, but in within those two groups of medias. It also describes if any conservative website went towards tabloidization which means if it used any practices of the yellow press in its work or if it was interested in similar topics as the yellow press was. The paper includes only texts of described articles and doesn't consider the influence of photos or any other graphics in the articles. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Monitoring of the news' facebook pages via analytics pro during certain period
Soukupová, Barbora ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Kasík, Pavel (referee)
This work should show the importance of being able to utilize all the meanings of media that our world presents, keeping in touch with people subscribed to certain product, knowing its target audience and being able to give it as much as we possibly can. Are Czech online media capable of this path or are they just forgetting and missing the options? The term new media is still shifting and evolving as we witness new technology revelations. While the world is changing unbelievably fast we need to focus on those transformations and adapt to them, not fight them. But since there are always some who keep resisting innovations, we can see how their work differs from those who follow new manners. With help of Socialbakers and their Analytics PRO tool we will examine certain Czech news websites and see how they cope with social media, Facebook specifically. Their most popular posts will demonstrate the overall orientation of particular page and other metrics will reveal what can be or should be improved.

Paywalls and the future of journalism
Novotný, Jan ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The Master's diploma thesis examines the phenomenon of imposing paywalls on news content. By using qualitative interview research, case studies, theoretical and empirical analysis the thesis emphasizes mainly the differences between individual ways of imposing paywalls and also factors that can influence the process of implementing paywalls. Hypothesis claims that imposing paywalls on existing free content can serve as an incentive on the media market to reach a growing productivity of media enterprises in spite of a booming popularity of sharing free information. It depends whether the right business model is implemented. According to the hypothesis the right model is "metered model" that responds to the nature of the internet and implies that certain amount of content would remain free of charge. Both paid and free content spheres should have to be redefined by new ergonomy and new journalistic content.
