Simulation of ADSL error protection systems

The main objective of this thesis was to create a model of forward error correction (FEC) system used in ADSL modem, which will be able to check its individual settings using the test methods specified in Recommendation G.996.1. The work is divided into two basic parts – theoretical and practical. The first part describes the basic functional characteristics of ADSL system, with attention being paid to aspects affecting the activity and setting of the error protection system. There are also discussed the theoretical basics of FEC coding techniques used in ADSL. The work also contains a description of the method for testing DSL system resistance against impulsive interference, which is specified in Recommendation G.996.1. The practical part of this thesis contains a description of the proposed model of the FEC system. The model was implemented in the programming environment Matlab Simulink. The proposed model includes the simulation of FEC coding process, DMT modulation and transmission channel with the impulse interference and the background noise. The proposed program is able to calculate parameters for setting FEC system from the specified data transfer rates and the requirement for interleaving. In addition, allows you to set the parameters of transmission line and sources of impulse interference and of the background noise. Under the set of input characteristics of the transmission is calculated bit allocation and the resulting parameters are given to a computational core of the model. In the application can be performed two types of test tasks. The first one is based on the Recommendation G.996.1 and makes it possible to determine probability of errored second. The second test task is for the measurement of resistance of the transmission system against impulsive interference. The results of the simulations are summarized in the conclusion of work.

The toolbox simulates physical layer of ADSL communication chain, where the main efforts are given to equalization techniques at receiver, proper channel partitioning at transmitter and channel modeling.

ADSL - equalization techniques

The work presents the state of the art in digital signal processing in ADSL physical layer. Mainly, the equalization techniques are studed. The basic and advanced equalization algorithms are presented (both in time and frequency domain) and their characteristics are discussed.

Broadband Internet connection in the Czech Republic and in selected countries (EU and non EU)

The purpose of this work is to provide a view of the situation in high speed Internet connection in the Czech Republic in comparison with the situation in other countries. At the beginning we present connection possibilities and actual supply of these services in the Czech Republic. This is followed by a comparison of the Internet connection supply in the Czech Republic with available supplies in two other selected countries. One country is a member state of the European Union -- Austria, and the other country is a state located outside the EU -- Canada. This study does not only compare technological aspects, but takes into consideration the economic situation of individual countries as well. Comparative criteria are described in detail in the corresponding chapter. Finally, there is an evaluation of the results and a reflection on possible future developments.

Vysokorychlostní internet z pohledu nového uživatele

Tato práce se zabývá vysokorychlostním připojení k internetu a jeho uživateli. Přibližuje jednotlivé technologie připojení, jejich rozšíření a dostupnost na území České Republiky. Analyzuje uživatele internetu a objasňuje důvody, které je v současnosti nejčastěji vedou k pořízení k internetu. V závěru předkládá návrh postupu pro výběr nejvhodnějšího vysokorychlostního připojení.

The availability of broadband in Czech Republic.

The theme of this thesis is the availability of broadband in Czech Republic. There are described high-speed technologies in use in the first part. The most important mentioned technologies are wireless technologies and DSL technology. Next part is connected with concrete providers' offers and geographical availability of individual high-speed technologies. The second part of this dissertation is a proper exploration. This exploration is implemented by a question-form, which is about the situation of high-speed connection in respondents' households. The results are commented and then presented by tables and graphs. The testing and measurement of new Telefónica's naked ADSL service is also made in connection with changes in O2 ADSL service.

Srovnání WIFI a vybraných technologií připojení k internetu

Cílem bakalářské práce je porovnat připojení k internetu prostřednictvím tří vybraných technologií - Wi-Fi, ADSL a kabelového připojení. Důvodem byl výběr takových technologií, které odpovídají Wi-Fi, nabízejí podobné možnosti a jsou na stejné cenové úrovni. Varianty jsou porovnávány z hlediska stability a kvality služby, kterou jednotlivá připojení nabízejí. Jedná se o míru kolísání rychlosti, která vzniká v průběhu stahování dat. V závěru práce je doporučení, které ze zvolených technologií je nejvhodnější pro domácnosti, malé podniky a středně velké podniky, a to z hlediska samotných variant připojení a také jejich nejdůležitějších atributů, které jsou voleny internetovými poskytovateli.

STUDIE ROZVOJE BROADBANDU V ČESKÉ REPUBLICE

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou rozvoje širokopásmového připojení (broadbandu) k Internetu v České republice. Snaží se odpovědět na otázky nízké penetrace domácností Internetem u nás a překážek jejího rozvoje. Práce ve své úvodní části obsahuje analýzu v Česku nejrozšířenějších dostupných možností připojení k Internetu a jednotlivých nabízených služeb včetně formulace nutných podmínek na trhu pro rozvoj broadbandu v ČR. Na tuto analýzu navazuje kapitola trendů v oblasti broadbandu, tedy pohled na plány významných subjektů v Česku i ve světě, na současnou do jisté míry latentní poptávku po službách využívajících broadband infrastrukturu a projektované zákaznické potřeby. Z této analýzy vyplývají důležité závěry, které jsou následně využity pro formulaci doporučení v podobě klíčových faktorů úspěchu firem působících na broadband trhu. Další text práce se rovněž zabývá současným stavem GTS Novera a dívá se i na její veřejně dostupné plány dalšího rozvoje. Načerpané teoretické znalosti jsou následně použity ke zpracování samotného přínosu práce, jímž je case studie zasíťování modelového pražského sídliště broadband infrastrukturou a navržení reálného technicko-ekonomicko-obchodního modelu pro společnost GTS Novera k realizaci byznys plánu v těchto konkrétních podmínkách. Následně jsou tyto výsledky zasazeny do rámce studie návratnosti investice s návrhem nových služeb pro další rozvoj společnosti GTS Novera.

Comparison of Czech Internet providers

Cílem této práce je popis trhu s vysokorychlostním připojením k internetu v České republice a porovnání nabídek tohoto připojení. V práci jsem se snažím především o stručný přehled jednotlivých technologií používaných k internetovému připojení a následně o porovnání nabídek jednotlivých poskytovatelů na našem trhu, za účelem snazší orientace na trhu. V samotném srovnání nejprve rozděluji jednotlivé poskytovatele dle technologií a poté je porovnávám hlavně na základě rychlosti a ceny, přičemž jsem se snažím vzít v úvahu i ostatní parametry jednotlivých nabídek. Za osobní přínos pro tuto problematiku považuji podání uceleného porovnání služeb poskytovatelů internetu, stejně tak jako vysvětlení problematiky jednotlivých technologií, které toto připojení umožňují.
