Restoration of the chateau and manor house in Vážany nad Litavou
Raková, Markéta ; Špiller, Martin (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Daněk, Lukáš (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor’s thesis is the restoration of the chateau and manor courtyard in Vážany nad Litavou. Its goal was to prepare documentation for the building permit and parts of the documentation for the construction based on an architectural study which was made in the subject AG033 - Restoration of Monuments Studio. The chateau with the manor courtyard is located in the southern part of the municipality in the immediate vicinity of the centre and is counted among the oldest buildings in the village. Its construction began in the second part of the 16th century, the oldest surviving structures date back to the Renaissance period. The design puts emphasis on the preservation of the historical and architectural essence and the current character of the building in the most coherent form. The quality and state of repair of individual layers were examined. Part of the restoration concept also covered the reflection about the appropriate use of the discussed building. The building should serve as the municipal authority connected to the library and should also provide facilities for organizations and associations that function in the village (Community centre, Primary Art School Slavkov, breeders, hunters, etc.). The new function of the building responds to the existing unsatisfactory space of the library and the municipal office, which are currently located in a terraced house. The municipality was forced to solve this insufficient space by extensions to the house’s yard. Furthermore, the design responds to the needs of the residents who would welcome more events and activities for children and youth in the village. Thanks to the location of the building in the village centre and this new functional use, a new central public space for all events in the municipality would be created in Vážany nad Litavou.

Public activities of Ferdinand Kafka occur in the second half of the 19th century and the first two decades of the following one. The case study is on a topic which has never been researched, and works with a historical-comparative method that draw from a large amount of primary sources, such as from personal archives of Kafka's family or the document collection of the amateur theatre. This profile takes notice of Kafka's life events, family and social background, and, above all, of his work for the region. We can find Ferdinand Kafka as a council man, responsible for decision making in his home town, and as a speaker of the people, ensuring communication between inhabitants and their aristocrats. He is described as a folk writer and a gifted public narrator. This follower of revivalist traditions contributed to national culture also by the foundation of a large number of local Czech educational guilds, such as the readers'company. The largest space is dedicated to the local theatre which Kafka helped to construct and where he performed and...

Jiráň, Jan ; Šedivý, Ivan (advisor) ; Čechurová, Jana (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analyze if, respectively how much society in Benešov changed after first WWI. I was inspired by microhistory, comparison and probe method to map the period. They are questions that cannot by simply answered, for example one of them was Konopiště castle case. Described events are put in nationwide context. The main sources for my thesis were regional origin sources. Another information to my topic I got from contemporary press.
The New Vyklice Project The Memory and The Society Activism in the Effort to restore the defunct Commune in Ústí nad Labem Region
Růžičková, Ivana ; Zandlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
The subject of this thesis deals with the project of restoration of the defunct village Vyklice by society of its former habitants. This project is unique for they are the only former habitants of a commune that had to be liquidated due to the coal mining who are striving to restore it under the same name and on the same place. The answer to the question where has this idea appeared led me to the analysis of their society activism. On the background of their attempts I have identified wider "community of memory" of former friends from Vyklice. These people had been involuntarily displaced from their rural environment and resettled in the nearby housing estate. After that they felt nostalgia for their lost homes and were reflecting that on spontaneously formed reunions. The main subject of their recollections was the former society life in Vyklice. The most active ones in the community have than created a new "society", Society of inhabitants of Vyklice, among others to try to restore the old Vyklice. At first the idea was only one of the means to enhance their memory activities. Gradually, along with the political support of their effort, the project had become the main goal of the society, which still allows the whole community of memory to be continuously reaching their original goal, which was to meet...
Czech Architect during the Political Changes after 1989
Ševčíková, Lucie ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
In this thesis, the author wants to deal with the broad spectrum of the contemporary Czech architecture. However, the phrase "Czech architect" appears in the title to show that this thesis is not a critical analysis of the stylish development of Czech architecture, but rather a search for links and inspirations that define the modern architectural profession in Czech society. These links and connections are deeply rooted in architects' experiences before and after the political regime change. The author feels that the architects' understanding of today's society and political transformation will help clarify some uncertainties of their meaning and status. One can understand the modern architects and the course of the Czech chamber of architecture as well as the public sector with it's ever changing tendencies ever since 1989 if the broad spectrum of contemporary architecture is kept in perspective.
