Regional Political Parties in Spain and the State of Autonomies

Despite not being a federation Spain is deeply decentralized country. The present-day system of political and territorial organization was outlined during the process of transition to democracy, which took place between 1975 and 1982. The so-called State of Autonomies was based on consensus and will to find a general agreement among the main political actors. Hence, to some extent, it has an ambivalent nature and nowadays is short of full acceptance and finality. This fact alongside the age- old heterogeneity of Spanish population results in a cleavage mirrored in the different views on desirable power and territorial configuration of the country. Today, Spain is divided into seventeen autonomous communities. These units are endowed with both executive and legislative functions and they constitute distinctive political arenas. In some of them the political competition resembles that of the national level. Nevertheless, in the majority of the communities the regional political parties have got an important, sometimes even pivotal role. Right these actors of regional politics are in the focus of this research. In its scope we defined two aims. The subject of the diploma thesis is an analysis of election programs of four Czech political parties for EU parliamentary elections. The subject of the research is a comparison of targeting national and European issues in the election programs. The thesis assumes that the election programs target issues, which are characteristic for elections at the national level. The thesis applies one of the characteristics of the theory of second order elections to the EU parliamentary elections. Data gathering is based on content analysis.
Analysis of electoral programmes of russian political parties (elections 2011)

Electoral programmes are important papers, in which party goals are presented. Ideology played a different role in drafting processes of political parties. It should be mentioned that traditionally political parties are classified according to ideological affiliation. This scheme exists till nowadays. Russian political parties are characterized by vague ideological affiliation due to immaturity of russian political scene. Analysis of electoral programmes helps to understand the nature of political spectrum. The goal of this thesis is the analysis of russian participating in parliamentary elections 2011 parties' electoral programmes. Hypothesis states, that electoral programmes are not oriented ideologicaly, but pragmaticly. The first chapter is about political parties and programmes in general, characteristics of ideological directions and states criterion for futher analysis. The second chapter conserns about tradicions, historical development of russian political scene, characteristics of present parties and their ideological affiliation. The third chapter analyzes electoral programmes 2011 from the point of view of ideological or pragmatical issues.
Analysis of election programs of political parties in 2010 in the field of direct taxation

The purpose of my bachelor's degree work has been evaluation of chosen electioneering programs of political parties. From separate programs information were used, according to which income range and tax yield of individuals as well as corporations has been calculated to meet this objective. This analysis has showed that KSCM and ODS would bring the most as for taxation of individuals and corporations. There were the biggest differences evident among programs for high income tax payers on income tax from dependent work. In case of corporations, companies have earned the highest net profit according to the electioneering programs of ODS.
Comparation of electoral programs of ODS and ČSSD in the domain of economic and social policy

This thesis is a comparative study of electoral programs of the two most powerful czech political parties ODS (Civic Democratic Party) and ČSSD (Czech Social Democratic Party) namely in the domain of their economic and social policies. The main aim of this work is solely the comparation thus the research of similar and different points which ODS and ČSSD seek to promote in the long term. A secondary objective is an attempt to determine whether the frequent disputes between these parties stems from ideological differences, or whether it is rather a pragmatic concern. Comparison is in the same time synchronous and diachronic (comparison of two programs of political parties in the time frame from the beginning of 90's until these days), such a comparison allows to identify the consistency and continuity in the programs of ODS and ČSSD and their overall development. The first part introduces the ideological foundations of the ODS and ČSSD, the most important milestones in their development and their position in the czech party system. The second part is a comparison of the electoral programs of these parties in the mentioned area, according to various themes. The third part examines whether the dissents between the parties are rather ideological or pragmatic, mentioned is the role of opposition in the political process and the centripetalism of modern political parties.
