Removal of Specific Pollution in Water Treatment
Tázlerová, Radka ; Vašalovská, Petra (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The present work deals with the specific problem of pollution in drinking water sources and potential removal of these substances in water treatment for drinking water. Attention was focused on hormones, pesticides and heavy metals. There have been reports of their properties, occurrence, impact on the environment and humans.
Certified methodology to create permanently sustainable environment for storage of traditional clothing components in depositories
HRUBANOVÁ, Markéta ; POLÁŠKOVÁ, Hana ; NASADIL, Petr ; KUŽELOVÁ, Zdenka ; PŘÍHODA, Jiří ; ŠEVČÍK, Richard
The methodology was created to identify risks related with the environment where artefacts of cultural heritage are handled or deposited. It is intended for museum and open-air museum workers handling textile clothing components and other textile artefacts. The aim was to create a tool to monitor and measure contamination of the environment where artefacts are handled to reduce risks, damage or lifetime decrease of the artefacts as a result of an improper storage conditions. Following described procedures will enable to monitor and decrease the pollution with the aim to protect both exhibits and health of the workers handling them.

Landscape Management in the Water Resources Area of Bukovsko
Písková, Jana ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Hiršová, Miloslava (referee)
The aim of this work is to evaluate the state of the landscape and the risks to water resources in the Dolní Bukovsko and propose appropriate measures to prevent pollution. This tool can be complex land consolidation , which in this area have still not been implemented. The theoretical part deals with general ground water potential threats, the impact of those threats and the basic characteristic of the northern part of the Trebon Basin, where the region of Lower Bukovska located. In the practical part is assessed in detail selected areas in terms of potential threats to water resources and proposes appropriate preventive measures to avoid this risk. These measures may be the basis for the implementation of complex land consolidation, which would also improve the environment and landscape features in this area.
Rating mass concentration of airborne dust in road transport, depending on the amount of traffic and the environment
NOVOTNÝ, Jiří
The aim of my bachelor thesis was to assess the weight concentration of airborne dust in road transport in dependence to traffic intensity and environment. The measurement was performed on class 1, 2 and 3 roads. One to five vehicles following one another were measured on each road class, which simulated the traffic intensity. The measurement has shown that occurrence of airborne dust particles is many times higher on lower class roads than on the class 1 road. Several factors affect the resulting carriageway pollution. The road dirt level and character, intensity of traffic, choice of vehicle track as well as dirt location on the road are the main factors.
The impact of mining to the socio-economic development of Ghana: The case of Anglogold Ashanti Ghana
Boateng, Kofi Ampadu
Mining has a long history as far as the existence of humans are concerned. Mining contributes to economic growth and can be a source of employment for many. Mining has been a source of revenue to most developing countries that are endowed with mineral and natural resources. These revenues come in the form of taxes, government shares, royalties, commitment to corporate social responsibility and foreign exchange earnings as a result of the exportation of minerals. When these benefits are managed carefully, economies can be transformed. Due to the immense benefits mining has on the economy and society, there is an over exploitation on environment leading to environmental degradation. The pollution associated with mining when not properly managed can result in an epidemic and the most affected are communities in which mining activities are predominant. The aim of this thesis is to assess the socio-economic impact of mining in Ghana, with reference to AGA and Obuasi municipality. The mode of data collection was mainly secondary and primary data. The secondary data was obtained from numerous governmental institutions and AGA. A brief questionnaire was administered and analyzed. The response to the questionnaire was close ended to enable easy interpretation. Availability of relevant data was a constraint and this caused delays in the writing of this thesis. Ghana holds large mineral reserves and its extractives sector has been dominated for centuries by mining. Gold is currently the most important of all the minerals mined, accounting for over 90 percent of mining sector revenue while the mining industry as a whole contributes about 47 percent of total exports (Ghana EITI reports summary), and up to 40 percent of revenue in some mining areas. Drawing conclusions from the research and the above statement, it can be said that Ghana's economy as it stands now cannot thrive without revenue from mining sector. There is therefore the need to invest in research and development in order to find alternatives since mining is a non-renewable resource. It was also observed that Obuasi cannot stand the test of sustainability during the closure of AGA. Therefore the need to explore alternate livelihoods apart from mining.
Analysis of the mass concentration of airborne dust in the road transport depending on traffic environment
KLÍMA, David
The name of this bachelor thesis : Analysis of the mass concentration of airborne dust in the road transport depending on traffic environment deals with measurement of mass concentration of airborne dust i places, which differed both in the amount of traffic and resources in the size of dust particles. Measurement were obtained objective information about influence of different categories of moving vehicles in road transport on air pollution by emissions from non-combustion processes.
Vliv tepelné elektrárny na životní prostředí
Huvar, Karel
Combustion of fossil fuels in the energy sector is one of the largest sources of air pollution in the Czech Republic. This thesis describes the conversion of heat energy in coal power plant into electricity. It compares the combustion plants of solid fuel. It compares combustion of coal, biomass and solid alternative fuels. It analyzes the resulting pollution from the combustion of solid fuels and its impact on the environment. It also describes the use of cogeneration. There are mentioned the methods of disposal and elimination of harmful substances and waste products of solid fuels combustion and their use. It deals with a preview of the future of classical power engineering in the Czech Republic.
Studie možných zdrojů znečištění na vodním toku Veverka
Gross, Karel
The aim of the bachelor thesis "Study of potential sources of pollution in the watercourse Veverka" is to determine the sources of contamination based on field survey of the area. This area was chosen in agreement with Povodím Moravy s.p., which solves a long-term project Čisté povodí Svratky. The theoretical part focuses on the importance of water resources for humans. It defines the concept of surface flowing waters, examines the composition of water, its properties, sources of pollution, the possibility of water purification and regulation of water management. The practical part describes the selected site survey to identify sources of pollution that can affect water quality. In the field, selected characteristics were measured and sampled for laboratory analysis. The results of field measurements and laboratory were processed in the results and discus-sion section to clear tables. On the basis of the results were discussed sources of pollution and measures designed to improve water quality.
Návrh optimalizace dopravy v městě Brně
Svejkovská, Adéla
Transport has besides to its irreplaceable positives also a large number of negative effects. Most of these effects pervade all elements of the environment and has a harmful effect on organisms. This thesis is focused on describing the impacts of transport with a detailed approach to air pollution and traffic load in the city of Brno, next there is general description of the current traffic problems in cities and its solutions in other European countries, including a comparison with the situation in Brno. Using a questionnaire is finded out satisfaction of passengers with the Brno public transport including proposals of passengers to improve the situation. In conclusion of thesis are desing solutions of optimizing transport in Brno by using the acquired knowledge and consideration of their implementation.
