The aim of my bachelor thesis is to point at specifics of European job markets. Job markets in the European Union are compared according to individual social models. Those models are Nordic, continental, Anglo-Saxon and Mediterranean. The thesis focuses on comparison of an overall employment of population, employment of men and women, employment of elderly people aged 55-64 and youth unemployment. Next, the thesis focuses on one of the model applied in Nordic countries, the model of flexicurity, which is considered to be a motive force of job markets reforms. Areas of flexicurity that can be applied in every member state of the European Union are introduced as well. The thesis consists of two chapters. First chapter consists of description of job market, its specifics in contrast to other markets, job market equilibrium, unemployment and its impacts on society. This part also describes employment policy and measures to solve problems of job markets. Second chapter describes a situation on European job markets since 2004 according to individual social models. The end of my thesis is focused on the concept of flexicurity and its contributions.
