Pandemic Crisis Management: The Case Study of Childcare Facilities for Children under Five Years of Age

The master thesis is focused on crisis management during the covid-19 pandemic. Specifically, it focuses on childcare facilities for children under five years of age in the period from March 2020 to June 2021. The particular types of facilities are under the responsibility of three ministries. The aim of the work is to describe what the crisis management in this area looked like, how the interdepartmental cooperation looked like, and what impact it had on the facilities themselves and subsequently on the families. The diploma thesis is embedded in various concepts of crisis management, but also interdepartmental cooperation and strategic governance. As a part of elaboration of the topic, eight expert interviews were conducted, which are supplemented by an analysis of public policy documents (eg selected government pandemic measures, other government documents, methodologies, etc.). The analysis showed that the first phase of the pandemic was the most problematic, however some of the problems persisted in other phases. Solving gender segregation in science and research institutions holding HR Excellence in Research Award

Gender segregation in science is a persistent problem. The aim of the thesis is to find out if the HR Excellence in Research Award is a tool which can help in diminution of gender segregation in that institution which get this award. The certificate is granted by European Commission and for the institution it should mean that human resource management in their workplace is on the good level. One of the points that has to be fulfilled by institution is gender equality. The outcomes of the interviews and action plans analysis show that even for this kind of institution is gender segregation an issue. However, the HR Excellence in Research Award definitely raised the awareness of the problem in the Czech science environment. The case study shows that before the award itself, only general antidiscrimination legislation without targeted support of women has existed. This situation has changed in the most of cases and the institutions has the effort to improve it with by using the specific measures. Theoretical support of the thesis is the categorization of the political instruments by Ch. Hood, gender instruments which are used on the level of European Union and Czech Republic and the process of implementation of these tools. Social security in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom

The bachelor thesis deals with social security in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters. The first one introduces basic concepts of social security and establishes the social security in the international law and the law of the European Union. The second chapter analyses social security in the Czech Republic, with the main focus on pension and health insurance. The third chapter analyses accordingly the social security in the United kingdom, with the main focus on pensions and health insurance in the United Kingdom. The fourth chapter contains comparisons between these two countries as well as their evaluation.
