Plaster mold casting
Krejčí, Vít ; Nekuda, Pavel (referee) ; Pernica, Vítězslav (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is about plaster molding compounds. The theoretical part describes what plaster molding compounds are made of and what components affect their properties. Next, the process of plaster solidification and how plaster molds are made are described. The practical part of the work deals with the use of commercial plaster mixtures for the production of decorative castings. The method of manufacturing molds and their heat treatment, casting, and post-processing is described. Finally, casting defects are evaluated.
The Influence of Cooling Rate on the Microstructure of Casting Produced by Investment Casting
Vybíral, Ondřej ; Kaňa, Václav (referee) ; Nekuda, Pavel (advisor)
The presented work provides an insight into the theme of investment casting method and the metallurgy of aluminum alloys, focusing on silumins and their crystallization. In the experimental part, three test castings were made from the AlSi7Mg alloy using this method, with combination of various cross-sections and different cooling rates. SDAS analysis was used to evaluate the influence of cooling rate on the microstructure. The measured values were examined for their dependencies on the cooling rate, casting cross-section, and different sampling locations. The measurements demonstrated that SDAS value is lower in castings with higher cooling rates and smaller cross-sections. At the same time, higher value was measured in samples taken near thermal nodes.
Graphitic cast iron and the influence of magnesium on its structure and properties
Nekuda, Pavel ; Bořil, Petr (referee) ; Kaňa, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with types of graphitic cast iron and their metallurgical treatment with magnesium. In the practical part of the thesis, an experiment is performed in which there are cast samples of graphitic cast iron with different amount of modifier, in which mechanical properties and structure are observed.
Color metallography of foundry alloys
Nekuda, Pavel ; Záděra, Antonín (referee) ; Kaňa, Václav (advisor)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with the preparation and application of the most common color etchants and in the practical part, the applicability of selected reagents is tested. The obtained results are compared with the findings obtained from previous research works. Attention was mainly focused on etching samples of alloyed cast irons with Beraha's I, Beraha-Martensite and Beraha's CdS reagents in order to find the optimal method of color etching of austempered ductile iron. These samples differed in their chemical composition and wall thickness of the initial Y-block. Image analysis was also performed, where the sizes of the individual color areas, obtained by the Beraha's I reagent, were determined on the microstructures. The practical part of the thesis also deals with the application of Weck's reagent on two samples of AlSi7Mg silumin, while only one of them was heat treated.
