Study of Biological Material Attributes by using Image Analysis Methods
Jeřábková, Petra ; Mikula, Milan (referee) ; Zmeškal, Oldřich (advisor)
Within the dissertation thesis “Study of Biological Material Attributes by Using Image Analysis Methods”, attention is focused on monitoring of the application of image analysis methods, mostly a fractal analysis, in studying the properties of various yeast species. The thesis includes determining the number of yeast cells and vegetative propagation of yeast using fractal parameters – fractal measure D and fractal dimension K. Attention is also paid not only to the application of the existing image analysis methods, but also to their renovation. The obtained images were evaluated using the box counting method specified by implementation of wavelet transformation. To monitor yeast cells for a longer time, it was first necessary to prepare a suitable microscopic preparation. To distinguish live and dead cells, the following fluorescent dyes were used: acridine orange, fluorescein diacetate, FUN-1, and Calcofluor White M2R. The images of yeast cells were recorded using a still camera or a CCD camera and microscope. Clips of the same size were obtained from the acquired digital photographs and processed by the HarFA program developed at the Faculty of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology. On the results it is possible to see a change in the fractal dimension depending on time, i.e. on the change of a budding cell structure, or to determine the number and radius of yeast cells upon predefined conditions.
Currciculum of foreign language for special purpose at universities with economic focus – the theory and practice
Jeřábková, Petra ; Hlavičková, Vlasta (advisor) ; Höppnerová, Věra (referee) ; Houska, Leoš (referee)
The knowledge of foreign languages has always been inseparable part of education and a part of spiritual wealth of every human being. At present, it also becomes one of the conditions for employment and success of university graduates on labour market, the precondition of which is a correctly assembled curriculum of a foreign specialized language both in its cultivation and qualification part. The goal of this dissertation is to on the one hand examine significant features of our presence which have influence on cultivation component of curriculum in particular, and examining the requirements of practice which determine its qualification component. From the synthesis of conclusions of both parts, we formulate recommendations for assembling specialized foreign language curriculum for universities of economic focus on a specific case of the curriculum of specialized German at University of Economics, Prague. We define the notion curriculum in theoretical part and we deal with curriculum from synchronic and diachronic aspect. Hermeneutical approach examines its social determinants. Furthermore we deal with current problem of special methodologies, which touch upon the addressed problem: methodology of tertiary education, methodology of foreign languages, methodology of German and methodology of specialized German. In conclusion of the theoretical part, space is devoted to language policy in Czech and European context and we summarize current state of solution of our research problem. In the research part, we deal with the qualification part of curriculum by means of empirical research of University of Economics, Prague graduates focused on the analysis of current demands of labour market on the knowledge of and the comparison of these requirements with the existing curriculum of German at University of Economics, Prague. It has been verified in the research whether the level of graduates´ knowledge for practice is sufficient and gives them competitive value on the labour market, what activities they do in German, how they reflect their studies of German at University of Economics, Prague and what their suggestions to curriculum, which would better respect their educational needs, are. Conclusions of the research are compared with the existing curriculum as it is depicted in graduate´s profile, as well as syllabuses of individual subjects and textbooks which are used in tuition at present. We derive from both of the steps that the nature of changes in curriculum is legitimate. Concrete suggestions for the innovation of curriculum where we take the findings of theoretical and research part into account follow the research part.

Air traffic and the position of Travel Service airline at the Czech air market
Jeřábková, Petra ; Vaško, Martin (advisor) ; Voříšková, Barbora (referee)
The thesis analyse the current position of Travel Service, Ltd. at the Czech and central European market and try to point out the main aspects which stood for a successful development of the airline. The theoretical part focuses on history of aviation, structuring of air traffic and airlines, on airline alliances and low-cost airlines. It is also focuses on air traffic in the world, current trends in aviation and on the position of aviation in tourism. The analytical part describes the company from its beginning to its current successful position. Economic data, internal statistics, services, business strategy or actual news are analysed in this part. The important part of the airline, low-cost SmartWings is mentioned here as well.
Evaluation factors severity of thermal injury in children in the pre-hospital care
JEŘÁBKOVÁ, Petra
Injuries in children have been undoubtedly a threat for all parents, healthcare professionals and the children themselves for many years, but the children often do not have the possibility to even realize this threat. Just in moment too fast, they enter the turmoil of prehospital care and become patients, victims of their own play or due to the lack of attention of others, or even victims of adults. Burns or the so called thermal injuries are very common mechanisms of injuries in children. In our diploma thesis, we decided to focus on thermal injuries from the viewpoint of those who are the first to come in contact with the patients, and who must evaluate the given trauma and initiate treatment based on the evaluation. In particular, this applies to the personnel of emergency medical services, and also to the graduates of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (USB FHSS). These persons should also be the ones to be aware of how burn injuries are evaluated in children - given among others that many of them are often found in the position of healthcare personnel at children´s camps or nurse at offices of general practitioners for children and adolescents. The following hypothesis was formulated based on consultations with the professional public (MUDr. Robert Zajíček, Burn Medicine Department, University Hospital Královské Vinohrady): ?Education of healthcare personnel of emergency medical services and USB FHSS graduates is inadequate, being a potential source of errors in the provision of prehospital care?. Based on this hypothesis, objectives of the diploma thesis were set as follows: Objective 1: Determine the knowledge status and practical skills in respect of evaluating 6 essential burn factors amnog emergency medical service personnel and USB FHSS graduates. Objective 2: Develop an educational material on prehospital care in children with burns.
Nursing questions of eyes injuries
JEŘÁBKOVÁ, Petra
Eye injuries are a very topical theme all the time despite the fact that the market offers a large number of protective means for work, sports and other activities. Besides, patients often come for treatment when complications arise, and then it happens that it is no more possible to save the patient{\crq}s eyesight. In this bachelor thesis we therefore focused on the work of nurses in ophthalmology departments or ambulances, which play a major role in the care of patients with an eye injury. The thesis consists of two parts. In the first one, the theoretical part, we tried to present the most frequent eye injuries and the work of the nurse as the nurse and educator. It contains, at the same time, some interesting facts for those patients who have lost the ability of sharp eyesight right after an eye injury, principles of communication with a blind person for nurses, and information on prevention and first aid in the event of an eye injury etc. The second part of the thesis deals with research. The investigation was conducted in several ophthalmology departments - the České Budějovice Hospital and Havlíčkův Brod Hospital and in the ambulances of practical eye physicians, by means of a questionnaire concerning patients and nurses. All questionnaires were completely anonymous. The objective of the thesis was to find out the knowledge of the patients who have suffered an eye injury about administering first aid and to find out the content of nurses{\crq} education with patients with a repeated eye injury. The thesis contains several hypotheses that were to be answered by questionnaires. The objectives of the thesis were met and four hypotheses were confirmed, on the basis of investigations. Solely Hypothesis 1 was not quite confirmed. The results of the investigation and the entire thesis may serve as a quality indicator of the nursing care of patients who have suffered an eye injury, may be an instruction for nurses working in ophthalmology sections on how to proceed in the event of education of such a patient, and as material for tuition of students at the Faculty of Medical and Social Studies.
