Mapping the physical activity of physiotherapy students as part of a european research survey
Jáchymová, Kateřina ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Baranová, Eva (referee)
The aim: This thesis deals with the investigation and comparison of physical activity in physiotherapy students of Czech and Slovak universities. The aim is to map their activity and investigate the relationships between their activity and stress levels, sleep quality and general wellbeing. Methods: It is a descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out by the already mentioned online questionnaire, which was in English. The link to the SURVIO.CZ website was distributed by the guarantors at universities. In the development of the questionnaire, existing questionnaires were used, specifically the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to adress physical activity. For one faculty that participated in the pilot study in 2021, in which the questionnaire was tested, the results were compared with the current results. Statistically, the data were processed using means, one and two sample t- test or F-test in ANOVA. Chi square test and Pearson's correlation coefficient were also used. Results: Women have been shown to be less satisfied with their mental health and to feel less in control of their lives compared to men. When subjectively asessing quality of life, significant differences were found between countries and universities. These results were consistent with the results of the...
The effect of the Ludmila Mojžíšová method on pelvic floor muscles of contemporary dancers
Vosenová, Franziska ; Budská, Nikol (advisor) ; Baranová, Eva (referee)
Painful difficulties are common among professional dancers. By observing one dance group, a positive S-reflex, which is a test indicating pelvic floor dysfunction, was found for all dancers. The pelvic floor is one of the key sites of the axial organ and its dysfunction can be the primary cause of painful problems in both local and remote areas of the body. The method of Ludmila Mojžíšová was chosen as the method of pelvic floor treatment. Changes in pain and pelvic floor post-treatment were monitored. The aim was to find out whether the changes on the pelvic floor, after treatment with the method of Ludmila Mojžíšová, can be monitored by transabdominal ultrasound and whether the pain of the places mentioned by the dancers will be reduced. Eleven dancers from a professional dance ensemble dedicated to contemporary dance, who had a positive S-reflex, had back and/or hip pain and were aged 18-25, were selected, and gynecological and internal diseases were excluded. Lift of the pelvic floor during contraction, contraction endurance, and number of rapid contractions were measured in probands using transabdominal ultrasound. The parameters were measured in a supine and standing position. They also underwent an examination by a physiotherapist. Pain was assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS). 6 subjects...

In the theoretical part of this thesis is the anatomy of the spine, planes and dimensions of the pelvic stabilizing system of the spine and the importance of muscle systematization . Another chapter is a method of ACT® - acral coactivation therapy, which describes its principles. The last chapter is about pregnancy itself, change of it and nourishment. The practical part included two case reports of pregnant patients with back pain. Both attended the outpatient rehabilitation. They were treated conservatively, one with low back pain, the one with a sore a lower thoracic and upper lumbar spine. Each of the patients there is done input and output kinesiology examination,...
Role of body awareness in physiotherapy
Čalounová, Kateřina ; Froňková, Eliška (advisor) ; Baranová, Eva (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to demonstrate the importance of body awareness in physiotherapy. The theoretical part of this paper explains the role body awareness plays in physiotherapy and elsewhere, its benefits from the point of view of both a patient and a therapist and it also explains which methods can be used to work with body awareness. The MAIA survey (Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness) used in the in the practical part of this paper, evaluates the level of interospection or body awareness in two groups of population. These are people with physiotherapeutic backgroud in one group - physiotherapists and also physiotherapy students, and people without physiotherapy education in the other group. Part of the goal was also to verify if body awareness is affected by higher physiotherapy education, chronic pain or by undertaking activities aimed on awareness of one's body, such as yoga, mindfulness or various breathing exercises. Using a statistical evaluation of 144 survey responses, it was found that the group dedicated to physiotherapy has a higher score of the MAIA survey compared to the group without physiotherapy background. The score, however, does not increase with higher physiotherapeutic education, nor is it affected by chronic pain of the respondents. On the...
Effect of Wearing Minimalist Shoes on Foot
Fürstová, Anna Františka ; Bartlová, Petra (advisor) ; Baranová, Eva (referee)
Background: Growing popularity of minimalist footwear brings up a lot of questions. Studies on its long-term positive as well as negative effects are further needed. Purpose: The aim of the thesis is to investigate how does wearing of minimalist shoes for six months influences a human foot. Initially, we have expected a finger extension in width, especially the lateral extension of the big toe. Additionally, we have assumed to improve the medial longitudinal arch of the foot. Methods: We had two groups of participants - the experimental one (11 participants), which was wearing minimalist shoes for six months and the control group (7 participants). The control group continued to wear its conventional footwear. For both of the groups, plantar imprint on the podoscopic device PodoCam as well as the angle of the big toe were measured. Subsequently, the footprints were transferred to Chippaux-Šmiřák index for sequent evaluation. Results: Welch test was used to verify our two hypotheses. The first one, six months of wearing minimalist shoes decreases Chippaux-Šmiřák index, was statistically significant (p=0,009). The second one, six months of wearing minimalist shoes decreases angle of the big toe, was statistically significant as well (p=0,03). The hypotheses were accepted. Conclusion: Wearing of...
