Breadonová, Kristina ; Štichauer, Pavel (advisor) ; Břenková, Barbora (referee)
(in English): This bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In its theoretical part, it deals mainly with the verb, more precisely with non-finite verb forms and their function in subordinate implicit clauses. The main topic of this thesis is then the absolute participle, which is analyzed in the practical part based on the parallel corpus InterCorp. The aim of this thesis is to present a comprehensive view of non-finite verb forms, especially the absolute participle and the typology of its Czech translation counterparts with sufficient precision.

Joy in Italian and Czech Phraseology
Břenková, Barbora ; Obstová, Zora (advisor) ; Štichauer, Pavel (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the emotion of joy in Italian and Czech phraseology. In the theoretical part, basic linguistic approaches to phraseology and idiomatics are discussed, including related concepts for the Czech and Italian backgrounds and the structural classification of phrasemes. This is followed by a definition of metaphor, taking into consideration the related metonymy and simile, an explanation of the role of metaphor in the description of emotions, and a delineation of the basic groups of conceptual metaphors/metonymies used for the semantic classification of phrasemes. Finally, two lexicographic approaches to the division of entries (semasiological and onomasiological) are described. The application part first presents a description of the research: it introduces the sources used to collect the sample, outlines the methodology, and formulates hypotheses. Then formal-functional and semantic analyses of idioms are presented separately for the Czech and Italian languages. The conclusion contains a summary of similarities and differences between individual languages, answers to hypotheses, and proposes the direction of further research. The resulting list of idioms is given in the appendix. Key words: idiom - semantic field - emotions - Italian - Czech

The first chapter of the theoretical part initially presents the key concepts: in addition to the set phrase and idiom, also collocation, term, metaphor and concepts related to them. The issue is seen from the perspective of Czech and Italian linguists. The second chapter describes the specifics of somatic phraseology. The practical part in its first chapter focuses on the processing of Italian nouns orecchio, bocca, naso by using available dictionaries and corpora itWaC and InterCorp. It briefly describes these sources, then explains the methodology used, the possible shortcomings of which it points out in the next chapter. The second chapter of the practical part, in addition to the analysis of individual entries, also deals with the issue of equivalence of found idioms. At the end, the findings obtained by this research are summarized, the similarities and differences between Italian and Czech idioms are pointed out, and the given procedure is evaluated. The created part of the phraseological dictionary is attached in the appendix of...
