Defects in steel castings
Jakubec, Petr ; Kaňa, Václav (referee) ; Pernica, Vítězslav (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the problems of defects that occur in steel castings. First, the use of steel in the foundry industry and the development of classification of casting defects are described. Furthermore, it defines the term ‘casting defect’ and its division. The main part of the thesis focuses on the most frequent defects in steel castings. The aim of this literature search is to describe the casting defects and their causes and to present possible precautions against their rise. Possible ways of removing the casting defects are discussed as well as their repairs.

In the first part of thesis are analysed the causes of corrosion, its impact on metal material and is explained the creation of corrosion resistance. The next part of thesis introduces separation of stainless steel based on structure and chemical composition, explains its properties and its possibilities of using in practise. The thesis also explain some production processes of the stainless steel cast. In the final part of thesis are illustrated some possibilities of using stainless steel in practise.
Electric induction furnaces in foundries
Bruštík, Josef ; Kaňa, Václav (referee) ; Šenberger, Jaroslav (advisor)
The main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to create a technical summary on the topic of “The electric induction furnaces in foundries” and be more closely familiar with this issue. A division of furnaces and ways of melting by particular types of furnaces are briefly described. On the basis of gained knowledge, an evaluation of economic and technical advantages of these melting devices was performed and subsequently it is recommended for further usage in the foundries.
