Low Energy Nuclear Reactions
Paták, Roman ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with collection and arrangement of information about cold fusion. The introduction describes discovery of the cold fusion, problems associated with it and the response of the scientific community. Furthermore, there are explained the assumed basic conditions of its emergence and some of the experiments are detailly described. Finally, the possible direction of the cold fusion utilization in the future is easily outlined.
LPG Alternative Fuel Cars
Magdolen, Michal ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ramík, Pavel (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis contents the very last development in field of LPG alternative fuel cars. The thesis deals with constitution and characteristic properties of LPG, survey and description of various LPG components, LPG conversion, the use of a specific LPG system, according to engine technological level, ecologic aspects and LPG influence on engine components wear. The conclusion contain important knowledge and very own expirience in matter of LPG conversion and its economic features.
Three-cylinder in-line gasoline engine
Balash, Ievgen ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The main aim of this master’s thesis is to design the powertrain of turbocharged threecylinder in-line gasoline engine based on given parameters. The work introduces three variants of balancing of inertia moment of rotating masses and balancer unit of first order moment of inertia of reciprocating parts. The thesis also presents calculation of torsion vibration of the powertrain and structural design of the rubber damper. In conclusion a stress analysis of the crankshaft is submitted with and without torsion vibration damper.
Two-cylinder inline diesel engine with an eccentric crank for commercial vehicles
Černohous, Tomáš ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The goal of this master’s thesis is to examine the influence of eccentricity on the behaviour of forces between the piston and cylinder liner and on balancing of the crank mechanism for given parameters of the diesel engine. Another aim of this paper is to propose an appropriate balancing of the crank mechanism followed by stress analysis considering torsional vibration for a chosen value of eccentricity.
Consumption of automobile
Hudeček, Vít ; Vojáček, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
Main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to provide you various ways how to measure consumption of petrol in automobile. There are mentioned both types, average as well as immediate consumption. The introduction is giving us the reasons why it is so important to know consumption of petrol in our automobile. It is followed by different ways how to measure the consumption of petrol. There are also noted factors which can influence the measured values.
Influence of Aerodynamics on Vehicle Handling Performance
Hejtmánek, Petr ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The main aim of this dissertation was to develop a computational tool capable of evaluating the influence of aerodynamics on the handling of a vehicle. The methodology it uses is based on the simulation of driving manoeuvres with a single-track model of a vehicle, which was composed with an emphasis on minimizing the amount of necessary input parameters. This simple model, which allows the assessment of the influence of aerodynamics on vehicle dynamic and static driveability, therefore doesn’t require large amount of input data, which makes the acquirement of relevant values easier. The computational model was validated by extensive measurements of two driving manoeuvres defined by ISO norms (step steer input and steady state cornering). As a consequence of unsatisfactory initial validation results, the differences between measurements and simulations were analysed, which led to gradual enhancements of the model with additional inputs to achieve better accuracy of simulations. The final part of the thesis deals with the comparison of influences of individual aerodynamic parameters on vehicle handling and the assessment of overall significance of aerodynamics compared to other factors which were taken into account (tires, mass properties, steering etc.). This thesis was realized in close cooperation with Škoda-Auto.
Motorcycle renovation
Štěpán, Radim ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
The main aim of bachelor thesis is to do a list of operations and knowledges for successful renovation of the ČZ 175 monoblock, motorcycle from 1935. The thesis starts with history of Česká zbrojovka until 1953. It continues with a theoretical list of information for the successful renovation of the body and engine, including a computational and design model of the engine cylinder head. The last part is the work done on the motorcycle, the production of missing parts of the motorcycle and the overall rough estimate of the price of motorcycle renovation in terms of material and time.
Developments of Car Drive Train
Švestka, Jiří ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
The final project contains the relavant piece of evidence about the development and use of frictional gearbox with the infinitely variable transmission, which is used in cars. The construction and the principle of those gearboxes is also described. Furtermore, advantages and disadvantages are assessed with respect to the conventional gearbox. Finally, the author’s opinions and views about frictional gearbox with the infinitely variable transmission are presented.
Petrol three-cylinder radial aircraft engine
Břečka, Marek ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to design a powertrain of petrol three-cylinder radial aircraft engine with the main parameters specified (bore, stroke, etc.), balancing inertia forces, stress analysis and determining of fatigue of the selected parts.
Four-cylinder petrol engine with eccentric crank mechanism for passenger vehicles
Mlčoch, Pavel ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This Diploma Thesis is aimed at exploring the potential of offset crankshaft mechanism for four cylinder inline petrol engine in terms of reducing the frictional losses of the piston group. Thesis deals with the influence of eccentricity on kinematics, dynamics and balance of the crank train. Furthermore, specific crankshaft balancing is elaborated and applied on 3D CAD model of the crankshaft. Calculation of fatigue safety factor using the advanced LSA method that takes into consideration the effect of forced torsional vibration and utilizes outputs from the FEA software (ANSYS APDL) is performed as well. Thesis also includes design of two options of rubber torsion damper mounted on the engine belt pulley and the follow-up choosing of the more advisable one.
