Study of biodrying technology for MSW
Pilnáček, Vojtěch ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Innemanová, Petra (referee)
Main objective of the work was to design and construct a model biodrying reactor and to try out two aeration regimes. Additional objective was to asses usability of the process for Czech waste. Model reactor was successfully designed, constructed and put into operation. Two different aeration regimes were examined: regime controlled by oxygen concentration and regime controlled by temperature in upper layer of the reactor. Better results in light of net calorific value and moisture elimination had regimes controlled by temperature in upper layer of the reactor. In light of energy budget regime controlled by oxygen concentration n. 2 performed better. Results strongly depend on composition of waste (organic fraction content) and ambient air moisture. On the basis of these results new interesting questions arise. Czech waste is energetically usable for processing by biodrying. From economic point of view insufficiency of market for produced fuel is a main problem.
The study of recycling non-ferrous metals in the EU and the Czech Republic
Rákosník, Vítězslav ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Tonika, Jaroslav (referee)
Overall, recycling entails both advantages and disadvantages. The major advantage is saving large amounts of energy in recycling compared to primary raw material, which is another big plus for recycling non-ferrous metals - save primary raw material. The Czech Republic and many other countries are largely dependent on imports of certain raw materials (aluminum, lead, copper, etc.) or just on mentioned recycling. Nowadays, increase in the number of electrical devices (computers, mobile telephones, tablets, etc.), is recycling of scrap metal very important, because in each device occurs a certain amount of non- ferrous metals, noble metals, which can be used again. In this work will be described commonly used non-ferrous metals (properties, inventories, recovery and recycling). Theses also deal with e-waste and its management. Key words: non-ferrous metals, recycling, utilization
Utilization of biofuels in transport
Šubr, Ondřej ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
This bachelor's work is dealing with the various aspects of utilization of liquid biofuels in the road transport. These aspects are physicochemical, technical, economic, social and environmental. In the first part of the work, there are definitions of bioethanol and biodiesel at the beginning, which are the most frequently used in the category of liquid biofuels. Properties of both biofuels and production processes are also included. Combustion of biofuels has a significant impact on human health, among others. So, the chapter dealing with the emissions from combustion of bioethanol or biodiesel and health effects of these emissions is following. The second part of the work aims to map a current situation in the field of biofuels in selected countries. These countries are the United States of America, Federative Republic of Brazil and People's Republic of China. Analysis of each country is divided into several topics - production of bioethanol/biodiesel, government programs to support the development of biofuels and possible future perspectives of developments in the fields of biofuels. The third and last part deals with numerous side effects of production and utilization of liquid biofuels. These effects are divided into the two main categories, environmental effects and social effects. The side...
Water quality development in Mladoticky Brook catchment area
Vacková, Zuzana ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
Water quality was one of the biggest problems of environment in beginning of 90. of 20th century in the Czech republic. Since 90. the level of water quality was in czech rivers rapidly better. Mainly in big rivers have accomplished great changes. The small rivers haven't notice that rapid changes. The Czech republic, after entrance to the European Union have committed to comply with Directive 91/271/EEC reduce urban waste water and which should have big influence to water quality also in small rivers. During 90. industry technology, agriculture, cleaning technology of waste water etc. reached big development. Therefore the presumption is higher quality of water in the Czech republic since 90. Goal of the thesis is comparison of results from 1999-2000 with results from 2012- 2014 from Mladoticky brook catchment, which is lined up to small river catchments (79,77km2 ). From this comparison there is obvious trend, if conditions of the water quality are really better or not since 90. [33] Since 2012 to 2014 were taken 12 times samples from 11 profiles of water from Mladotice brook catchment and they were consequential chemically analyzed. The samples were evaluated according to ČSN 757221 and compared with results from 1999-2000. From comparison with data 1999-2000 and 2012-2014 was confirmed the...
The study of water quality in wells Protected Landscape Area Křivolkátsko
Vobecká, Kateřina ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Tonika, Jaroslav (referee)
The water quality is an essential abiotic factor of the environment, particularly for water-linked ecosystems. It also necessary for human society for which the absence of drinking water could have disastrous consequences. This diploma thesis is focused on small resources of groundwater located in the protected area Křivoklátsko - the springs and wells. A water from the monitored wells was subjected to basic physico-chemical analysis plus some of these wells were also tested for microbiological contamination. These results were presented against current legislation and were also compared with results from Tomáš Brabenec's bachelor thesis. Key words: Křivoklátsko, wells, springs, water quality
Evaluation of the quality of water and sediments in the basin Kunratice stream
Uhrová, Adéla ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Tonika, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the monitoring of water quality and aquatic sediments analysis in the basin of Kunratický brook. Water samples were collected at six locations during once year. The results of analysis were evaluated according to CSN 75 7221 Water quality - Classification of surface water quality and Regulation 229/2007. According to CSN 75 7221 Kunratický brook is classified as very strong polluted water. Biological consumption of oxygen, ammoniated and nitrate nitrogen meet not the conditions of environmental quality according to Regulation 229/2007. Sediment samples were collected once for whole period at 4 locations. In sediment was determine the content of metals. The results of analysis were evaluated according to Regulation 257/2009. The results were compared with limits of US EPA, specifically PEC and TEC. Sediments of pond Šeberák are full obliged. Zinc, lead and cooper are in excess of sediments of Kunratický brook. Key words: water quality, sediments quality, basin

Assessment of suitability MSW landfilling in the Czech Republic
Kosová, Kristýna ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Kotoulová, Zdenka (referee)
The paper examines the suitability of municipal waste landfill in the Czech Republic. Landfill is still the most common method of waste disposal. This is mainly due to the number of landfills in the country, the level of charges, poorly built infrastructure capacity and other technical facilities for waste management. The work deals with the actual construction of landfill, through the production, collection and sorting MSW to the political and economic waste management. It also focusing on current issues of legislation and waste management. Part of this work is survey of public opinion and proffesional's views on this issue, which is divided to supporters and opponents. Although the landfill haves still a decreasing trend, the fact remains that there will be always stay some residual waste that can not to be completly remove. So the landfill will always remain as integral part of waste management.
Evaluation of dewatering of waterworks sludges with CST method
Svěrák, Michal ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Vašek, Petr (referee)
Main subject of the diploma thesis is an evaluation of waterworks sludge dewatering using the CST method. The CST or capillary suction time is method developed to evaluate specific resistance to filtration in an indirect way. In principle it is based on the use of filtration paper to measure willingness of sludge to release water or its filterability. Results are measured as time needed for the water to overcome a defined trajectory and expressed in seconds. The shorter the CST time the more filterable is the sludge sample. The CST method has been critically evaluated and it was assessed as a great method for selecting the ideal polymer used for the sludge dewatering and for defining its optimal dose. Measurements have been made on sludge from two waterworks plants Želivka and Kozičín. Polymer products from company Sokoflok and products Praestol and Magnafloc have been tested on both of them. The best polymers for dewatering have been selected. It was Sokoflok 104 for sludge Želivka 1, 55CN for sludge Želivka 2, Magnafloc for sludge Kozičín 1 and 55CN for sludge Kozičín 2. Second subject of the thesis was to evaluate a sludge sensibility to the shear rate. Havlík (2003) and Bache et al.(2003) are describing sludge as a substance very sensitive to higher shear rate which causes that the aggregates...
