"Forgotten" Aš region and his places of memory
Židov, Petr ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (referee)
The town Aš, its whole region, used to be the place permanently inhabited by people of German origin, as all the historical documents report. After the end of the world war two, people of German origin were forced to leave their homes which were built and handed over throughout the centuries and therefore became the prominent bearers of Aš region tradition. This long lasting continuity of inhabitation by these people was unnaturally intrerrupted and many places and settlements lost their memories. The new residents had to build the relationship to their new homes from the beginning. The aim of this thesis is to describe the places of memory which are, owing to nationalistic and religious character of the region, entirely tied to German history, and by means of their analysis find out how the newcomers' relationship to their new homes developed. The focus will be taken on the time period after 1945 and, especially, time period after 1989 when, on account of easing political situation, the new and old memory places could be viewed more objectively than before.

F. A. Šubert 1849 - 1915
Drexler, Otto ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Beneš, Zdeněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the biography of one important personality at the end of the 19th century - František Adolf Šubert, who was in the post of the Director of National Theatre in Prague in years 1883-1900. The main focus of the thesis is Šubert's public life and his career, as well as on his position within Czech cultural society, in the wider context of the era of that time changing Czech society and theatrical culture perception. It deals with the question, why F. A. Šubert was a subject of criticism from the journalists already during his active career as a director, and why he has never been recognized as one of the let's say "cultural heroes" of that epoch. The base of the work lies in the spring of the year 1900 - which was the year of Šubert's abdication (together with the whole theatre management). The work deals also with Šubert's personal life, which influenced his ideas and persuasion, too. This thesis is based on the then print, pieces of specialized and memoir literature, partly also archival materials (the access to the last mentioned was due to several factors rather limited). Píša, Petr ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Štaif, Jiří (referee) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The censorship in Bohemia in the context of the Habsburg Monarchy in the Vormärz period Petr Píša The PhD-thesis analyses and interprets the role of censorship as well as other institutional and structural mechanisms that have participated in the regulation of literary communication within the cultural sphere of the historical Czech lands (Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia). The act of censorship is understood as a set of administrative procedures controlling and regulating the literary communication that takes place in the printed media within the sphere of power of a particular social authority. On the other hand the term structural regulation is used for those types of blocked literary communication which cannot be considered for the consequence of the institutionalized power interference. The thesis is based on a triad of ideal-types of censorship - a paternalistic, liberal and authoritarian one. The key concept for the submitted thesis is the type of paternalistic censorship, which decision-making process is governed by a differentiated idea of the various categories of the public and an endeavour to strictly control the reading matter of the broad, less educated masses. The thesis also introduces and critically revises the methodological impulses of the so- called new censorship. It follows the discursive...
