Thermal biomass treatment

The aim of this work is to provide an overview of biomass processing methods, description of final products and their practical application. Furthermore, a description of the technologies used for each method and the comparison of the efficiency. To achieve these goals, it is necessary to carry out a literature search and to produce a comprehensive set of meaningful information that is comprehensible to every reader, but does not hurt the professional public.
Thermonuclear fusion for power production

The 4th generation of nuclear reactors

This thesis reviews the particular generations of nuclear reactors. The biggest part of the thesis focuses on the projects of the fourth generation reactors. The individual projects come out from the analysis of the international forum GIF. The last part is devoted to the detailed description of VHTR system and demonstration plant concept with reactor Antares.
Metane hydrate extraction

Thesis describes the chemical and physical properties of methane hydrate, the presence and location of sites in various types of sediment. Goal of this work is to evaluate the proposed production methods of methane hydrate from the technological, logistical and economic aspects. With the technologies currently available, the best production method is depressurization. There is a high probability that in the next decade it will be used for the production of natural gas from methane hydrate. The conclusion is evaluating areas with high potential for industrial production.
Scale model of fuel rod for experiments critical heat flux

Bachelor thesis deals with scale models for research of critical heat flux. Theoretical research part focusses on material of models their geometry heating methods and measurement of heat of already passed experiments. Practical part includes mathematical model of scale model used in device assembled at Faculty of Mechanical engineering BUT. Last section deals with surface temperture measurement and visualisation using thermography.
Fine particles emitted from laboratory combustion tests

This bachelor thesis is aimed at fine particles emitted from laboratory combustion tests of biomass. The theoretical part of this thesis is about common features and usual ways of using biomass. After this broad chapter there is specifically described combustion and all its products including emission of gasses and fine particles. The main task of this thesis is about an experiment combining two analyses. First is the thermogravimetric analysis and the second is measuring size and number of fine particles in the range of 18 to 550 nanometers. The final chapter is about evaluation of measured results from 4 different spruce samples.
The current state of mining and uranium reserves

This bachelor thesis is engaged in current state of uranium mining. It describes development of uranium mining on the area of the Czech Republic from the beginning to current state of mining. There are summarized current uranium reserves in the world, with the most important mining areas included. The treatment of uranium ore is described, with its influence on the environment and the remediation of affected mining area. In the last section, the possible ways of uranium usage in the future are mentioned.
Surface condenser

The bachelor’s thesis dealing with surface condensers is split into three main sections. The first section describes surface condenser, problems of heat transfer during condensation and a method of determining the heat transfer coefficient using the methods HEI and VTI-CKTI. The second section deals with the main construction elements and their materials, where the special attantion is paid to condenser tubes materials. In the third and the last section, the simplified thermodynamic design of surface condenser for given parameters is shown.

This bachelor’s thesis is a technical research dealing with issues of balancing turbine rotors and generally describing international standarts commonly used for balancing rotors. The first part is about unbalance in general context. The next part classifies types of rotors, standarts for balancing rotors and balancing methods. Then there is a description of a balancing device. The last part of this thesis includes a step by step process of balancing a specific rotor.
Mathematical model of test facility for study critical heat flux

In the first part, the bachelor thesis is focused on the description of test facility used for studying critical heat flux and for visualizing two-phase flow in the vertical canal. In the next part, there are the basic mathematical methods that are used for solving transient behavior of real devices. The last practical part of the thesis deals with applying of preceding methods to the preheater as part of the experimental loop and creating mathematical model of this device.
