Language development of children in multilingual environment

This diploma thesis have special pedagogical character and it focuses on language development of children from multilingual environment. The reason for this focus is their increasing number. However, there are still relatively few publications on this topic in the Czech Republic because more emphasis is placed on bilingualism. In the theoretical part, is trying to cover the complexity of language development and then deal with the concepts of multilingualism and bilingualism. In the practical part there is a qualitative research investigation based on three case studies of children from multilingual environment. The individual studies describe in detail their language development, including the possible mixing of language codes, and possible communication disabilities. Also, there is trying to find which of the language becomes relaxed for the children. Interviews with parents and class teacher mainly used to obtain data.
Analysis of communication ability of a pupil with elective mutism

The diploma thesis named Analysis of communication ability of a pupil with elective mutism, deals with the issue of communication of a girl with elective mutism. The teoretical part is based on a thorough analysis of literature and electronic sources. The introdictory chapter acquaints us with the development of communication and communication skills, the psychological development of the child, then defines the issue of impaired communication skills is childhood. The second chapter is devoted to mutism. It elaborates not only its terminological definition, etiology, diagnosis, therapy and prognosis, but also the issue of a pupil with elective mutism at school and principles of communication with this child. The third chapter deals with nonverbal communication, especially in connection with children's expressions. In this part are elaborated all components of non-verbal communication - kinesics (gestures, facial expressions, haptics); posture; proxemics and paralinguistic. Stuttering from a perspective of adult stutterers

The subject of this master thesis is to examine balbutism from a perspective of adult stutterers. The thesis is broken down into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is subsequently divided into five chapters. The introductory chapter defines motivation and a process of motivating another person. The following chapter deals with communication, an anxiety and panic resulting from communication, a motivation towards communication and additionally also the speech impairments under which stuttering is included. The third chapter specifically deals with stuttering, its origins, symptoms and classification. The fourth chapter describes diagnostic methods of stuttering employed in Czech Republic. The chapter about therapeutic methods concludes the theoretical part of the thesis. The practical part is centered on a research analysis and employs a qualitative method, namely a grounded theory method. Eight adult stutterers between the ages 31 and 50 were included in the study that took a form of questionnaire. Analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts

The topic of this diploma thesis is an analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts. The first chapter deals with theoretical base and defines terminology - communication, communication disabilites. It also defines anatomy and physiology of nasal cavity and oral cavity. The second chapter relates to issues of orofacial clefts. It describes classification, etiology, symptomatology, prevention, aestetic and psychosocial impacts and orofacial cleft children care. The third chapter deals with occurence of communication disabilites of children with orofacial clefts. It focuses on the definition of palatholaly, velopharyngeal inadequacy and it describes various linguistic levels and speech therapy and intervention. The fourth chapter is empiric and it deals with analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts. In research processes there were used scientific literature analysis, anamnestic data analysis and available specialized materials analysis. Contribution of individually created educational materials for pupils with ASD

The bachelor thesis is in the field of special pedagogy and deals with the benefits of individually created educational materials for students with ASD. The theoretical part defines the issues of autism spectrum disorders, diagnosis and etiology. One of the sections of the first chapter describes associated disorders such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and food intake. These problems often occur in children with low- functioning autism and mental disabilities. Furthermore, this part of the work deals with the education of pupils with ASD with associated mental disabilities and impaired communication skills according to the Education Act, and the possibilities of medication of these pupils to eliminate demanding behavior. The practical part is focused on expanding the vocabulary by the method of global reading using structured and visualized educational materials, which we create for students to suit their needs. Motivation is also an important factor, which is why we use motifs from the areas of children's interests in the materials. Support of child with developmental dysphasia in kindergarten

Bachelor thesis is specially pedagogical and deals with theme of supporting a child with developmental dysphasia in the kindergarten. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part consists of a chapter about preschool age child, his development and chapter that deals with developmental dysphasia. In the theoretical part are available information from the professional literature on the topic of developmental dysphasia. The practical part includes anamnesis of individual with developmental dysphasia and my own investigation. The research is made by qualitative method with using the case study of an individual with developmental dysphasia, moreover, the documentation and semi-structured interviews with teachers. It describes the methods of support with accent on aspects of adaptation, communication, teaching and primary school preparation. In a part of the analysis documents, we find the theoretical basis for working with a child and in the interviews, we can see the teachers experiences with a focus on the specific individual. The result is the basis for work with a child who is dealing with developmental dysphasia. In the end, we find an evaluation of the benefits of the bachelor thesis for the public. Influence of Elkonin's method on phonological ability of preschool children

The diploma thesis deals with the influence of Elkonin's method on phonological abilities in preschool age. In the term of content, the thesis is divided into two main parts - teoretical and empirical. The first main part creates a theoretical framework of the selected topic and is further divided into four chapters. First, the basic terminology - speech and language - are defined and the ontogenesis of human speech is conceptualized in more detail. The next chapter describes the phonological skills. There is also a distinction between phonological and phonemic awareness and a possible diagnosis of the field of phonological processing. Above all, the Battery of Tests of Phonological Abilities (by the authors Seidlová Málková and Caravolas) is described, because it was used for the needs of the research. The third chapter characterizes the methodology of D. B. Elkonin. The last chapter approaches school maturity and its diagnosis. The empirical part has a qualitative character and its main purpose of the researche is to analyze the influence of Elkonin's method on the phonological abilities of preschool children.
