The main aim of the bachelor thesis will be particularly the analysis of the economic causes which led the Great Britain in the 1930s to the choice of the policy of appeasement (reconciliation of the aggressive European powers, primarily the Nazi German). For the reasons above firstly it goes about the analysis of the economic and then also of the political and social relations between the Great Britain and Germany. At the earliest the thesis analyse the historical background (mainly the impacts of the Great depression), which had influenced the policy of the Great Britain and her economic bindings towards Germany. Further will be analysed the changes of the policy of appeasement in the second half of the 1930s, on the eve of the second Word War and in the period when Britain had to abandon this policy. Simultaneously the thesis will attempt to answer the question whether the Great Britain had the oportunity to choose an alternative policy considering the given internal and extrnal policy factors which would face up the Nazi German more emphatically.

Duroňová, Tereza ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Zdenka (referee)
The main purpose of the work is to analyze the most important aspects of post war development in Great Britain. My attention will be focused primarily on measures taken by the Labour government, which for the first time in history came to power. In second part I will describe the building of the welfare state from the World War II until the end of 80's of the 20th century, when Margaret Thatcher was elected to be the prime minister. In the third part of the work I will analyze her impact on the economic conversion of Great Britain from Keynesianism to Monetarist doctrine of free market forces and responsibility of each individual for his / her fate. The government of Margaret Thatcher has set a new direction, which becomes the inspiration for many other politicians around the world. In the end of the work, I will describe the circumstances which led to the resignation of the first female prime minister in the history of Great Britain.

The essence of work is to analyse and highlight the many similarities as well as many differences in policies of both prime ministers.
Thatcherism as a politicical and economical phenomenon and its consequences for Great Britain
Veselý, Miloslav ; Kovář, Martin (advisor)
Era of Margaret Thatcher's government is one of the most important periods of the 20th century British history. Its legacy represents a huge influence which fundamentally changed, with a small exaggeration, Great Britain. The analysis of her government and her political principles which became known as thatcherism represents radical deviation from post-war political and economic consensus. They were equivalent to the real revolution in approach to the relationship between the state, the society and the economy. This thesis concentrates especially on economical aspects of thatcherism, economic and monetary policy and their consequences and influence on Great Britain during 1980s and afterwards.
New Labour - Third way
Görčöš, Ivan ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Tumis, Stanislav (referee)
In my bachelor thesis "New Labour - Third way" I would like to analyze internal economic policy of Great Britain applicated by The Labour Party chaired by Tony Blair. The main question of my thesis will be -- Is the third way existing? Has the Labour Party with Tony Blair stayed still left-wing? Or has it become right-wing party? Can we speak about post-thatcherism? Was the idea of third way and deflection from traditional labour significances and Keynesian economics successful? I am going to initiate my work around 1979 when Labour Party went to opposition. The main part of my thesis will begin when Tony Blair was starting to became leader of the party. Especially with the intention of the programme New Labour, New Life For Britain. I am going to split it among three electoral victories. I will focus on policy related to inflation, unemployment, expenditures on health care or changes in education system. I am going to cancel my work in 2007 when Gordon Brown has become Prime Minister.

Influence of USA on peace negotiation in 1917 and 1918 and attitude to question of indipendent Czechoslovakia
Doubková, Monika ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Kovář, Martin (referee)
I want to start my Bachelor thesis by studying of peace attempts running before USA entry in the war; by reviewing in facts USA neutrality and by inspecting USA part in these attempts and why peace negotiations came to grief. I also want to analyze the influence of President Woodrow Wilson on foreign policy within the context of peace attempts and then to outline political and economic reasons for the entry in World War I. Further I want to attend to diplomatic negotiations between United States and Austria-Hungary. I will answer the question why the attempts took place at secret negotiations of separate peace with Austria-Hungary. I will also analyze so-called 14 points of President Wilson and I will sum up its meaning for politic and economic development in the Europe. Then I will state the reasons for the turn in USA politics in the spring 1918 when the effort to conclude separate peace with Austria-Hungary were left and American support for Succession State creation was shown. My thesis is based on non-published and published sources (Archiv Ministerstva zahraničních věcí - Archive of State Department) and Czech and foreign special literature.
Spanish integration to the CEE
Müller, Tomáš ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
My theses scope is description of the Spanish relationship to European Union from the first integration tendencies after the WW II till the preferential agreement ratification in 1970. I will try to analyze part of the Spanish economic history within the context of west-European integration. This period precedes the political transformation of autocratic Spain to modern democracy. These democratic cabinets were able to aspire seriosusly to fully-fledged European Union membership. In my opinion it is not possible to view political transformation as a start-up for democratically elected governments to setup new relationships with EU but it is necessary to understand it as an important condition which is part of a long-term process of Spanish convergence to west-European integration. In my theses I primarily concentrate on the economic development but I mean that it is important to mention the political situation as well.
