Changes of medial image of civil society in Slovakia and Košice EHMK 2013

This diploma thesis deals with the medial image of civil society and non governmet organisations in three main daily papers in Slovakia(Sme, Pravda, Hospodárske noviny). Thesis tries to answer the question - what kind of medial image were mentioned daily papers forming and publishing. Thesis also deals with the biggest non-governmental organisation in Slovakia - Košice - European capital of culture 2013 and its role and influence in that medial image. Im using method of contentual analysis. Im comparing this media image during two periods - January 2007 and January 2013.
Role of NGO's on reintegration of tortured children to the society: Comparative study of facilities Klokánek and Departement social-law protection of children

This master's thesis introduces the broad issue of child abuse, focusing on the role of both NGOs and state organizations in reintegrating the abuse children into society. At the same time it aims to provide a comparative study of the FOD (Fund for Children in Need) facilities Klokánek in Žatec and Litoměřice with the Department of Social-Law Protection of Children at the Municipal Authority in Louny. The thesis also suggests a variety of potential arrangements to enhance the effectiveness of abuse children reintegration process in these facilities.
Mother Centres as Civil Society Organizations

Synopsis The thesis is focused on what functions are carried out by mother centers as civil society organizations in contemporary society in Pardubice region. Furthermore, the aim of this thesis is to find out how the mother centers as civil society organizations meet functions in contemporary society in Pardubice Region according to the representatives of these centers. In the theoretical part of this thesis, several theories about the typology of functions in civic sector organizations, are presented and compared. In the research section there are presented findings from qualitative research carried out through interviews with ten representatives of mother centres in Pardubice Region. Recreation, sport and life in the mountains - Case study of Bedřichov village in Jizera Mountains

The thesis focuses on the issue of the impact of sport, recreation and weekend housing on the shape and development of the village, which is directly related to these activities and is located in a protected landscape area. My subject of interest is the specific village of Bedřichov in the Jizera Mountains. This area has been struggling in recent years with the influxt of athletes and those interested in weekend living, who mainly run cross-country skiing. Bedřichov has to adapt to this onslaught and find solutions to be a pleasant place not only for athletes and tourists, but also a pleasant place for everyday life. This thesis takes the form of a case study and the main aim is not only to present the problem in a comprehensive way but also to show how the interests of sport and everyday life in the village are balanced. The first input is the assumption that this municipality is able to balance these interests. Analysis of research data shows that these efforts have been relatively successful so far, but balancing these interests is becoming increasingly difficult. Themes and Programs of Open Society Fund Praha Focused regarding the concet of Open Society in Czech republic from its Foundation to the Present

MA thesis is following the topics and programs of one chosen organization called Foundation Open Society Fund Praha from its very beginning up to date. In the first chapters of this thesis there is the theoretical background which consists mainly of explanation regarding the political concept of Open Society which is crucial because the foundation has the name of this concept and the features of the concept should be reflected by the activites of the foundation in general. This theoretical background is crucial from another reason which are the main research question or hypothesis and their answers. The research method is quantitative content analysis. The results of the research show that the main assumption of the research is correct, because the topics which are significant for George Soros the founder of these organizations in his own works. We can assume that influence of George Soros on the organization is still considerable even though the activities of organization are presented as mostly independent.
Volunteering as the Way to Start a Career

The influence of volunteering on the career of young people in the Czech environment represents an unexplored area of research. This diploma thesis is searching for the answer if volunteering experience and competencies acquired during volunteer activities can affect the start of a career of young people. Particular attention is also paid to social capital and to persons whose activities in the organization push volunteers forward in a professional sense and share new contacts useful for career. The theoretical basis includes the theory of social capital, signal theory, career path theory, and career anchor theory. Design work is qualitative research. The source of the data are semi- structured interviews with ten participants who have experience in volunteering and currently can provide their own opinion on the impact of volunteering on their careers. School Councils and their Place in the Czech Civil Society

In my work I deal with school councils and their acception in czech society standing on the start line of global changes. The work is devided into five chapters. First one attends czech form of the school concils and handle with their actors and evolution. Second chapter is dedicated to social context - to the era of reflexive modernization and the knowledge society that come with new demands for society and individuals and also to specific czech societal conditions. Third chapter talks about changes nad innovation done in the education sphere. Fourth chapter deals with international comparison of school coucils and school self-government in general. The last chapter contains description of debate that preceded estabilishing of the school councils and a survey among head masters of the schools after the first term of obligatory estabilished school councils.
The Analysis of the Civil Society Engagement of Young Roma

Many researches have proven that in the Czech Republic on a long there is little tolerance towards the Roma minority. The current situation is the cause of both historical and socio-economic. There are many designs that offer solutions to improve the mutual relations between the majority and the Roma minority. Part of the Roma population is working hard on steps towards better mutual understanding. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the civic involvement of young Roma dedicated to activities for the benefit of society. Their effort is rewarded with both positive results and negative reactions accompanied by threats, therefore is the aim of work to find out what motivates or influences them in their endeavors. Design of this thesis is a qualitative research with method of grounded theory.
