Local Party Systems: The Case Study of the Benešov District

The thesis keens on the analysis and development of the party systems in the cities and towns of the Benešov district. The thesis primarily concerns on existence of political parties on the local level, creation of electoral lists and analysis of the electoral list structure. The thesis also concerns on relations between candidates subjects, interactions between them and formation of coalitions.
Application of the Theory of Coalitions in the Formation of Regional Councils in the Czech Republic after Elections in 2008 and 2012

This diploma thesis "Application of the theory of the process of forming coalitions of regional councils in the Czech Republic after the elections in 2008 and 2012" discusses the process of establishing regional coalitions in the region of the South Moravian and the Central Bohemia. The aim is to answer the question of what form of the regional coalitions formed during the regional elections. Furthermore, I was describe how did the process of establishing regional coalitions and what were the key factors, that decide the outcome of negotiations. For these reasons, this thesis analyzed the official declaration of election programs, performances by regional politicians in political or public debate. The intention of this thesis is through the use of a theoretical framework and analysis of documents, describe in detail the development process, which was formed coalition and identify possible strategies of individual actors. TOP 09 and STAN as alliance of parties

This work deals with a phenomenon of party alliances, especially with the alliance of TOP 09 and STAN. This phenomenon is current in the Czech politics. This work concerns other unions of the right-wing or the center parties in the Czech Republic too, and searches an answer for the question, if it is an alliance. Primarily this work deals with the alliance of TOP 09 and STAN, which were established in 2009. It also deals with differencies of this alliance on the state, regional and local level, and searches any cleveages of this alliance on the state, regional or local level. This work also searches the answer for the question, what the perspectives of this alliance in the future are. The first agreement about the alliance was confirmed in 2009. The second agreement was confirmed in 2013. This agreement enables free relationship between TOP 09 and STAN on the regional and local levels.
The Role of Regions in the Political System of the Czech Republic

The goal of this thesis is to analyse development of regions in the Czech republic as higher territorial administrative units. The analysis refers to the attitudes of the relevant political parties for their creation, the government's attitude towards the reform of public administration, which led to the creation of higher territorial administration units, i.e. counties, and last but not least author intends to compare the most important draft laws concerning the creation VÚSC. The Application of the Theory of Second Order Elections over the Elections at the Local Level

This article aims to analyse the theory of second order elections and its application in elections at the local level, both generally and specifically in the Czech Republic. At first it presents the theory of second order elections and the possibilities of its application. It also talks about the progress of the electoral system at local level, the impact of its revisions on outcomes of election and the position of political parties in elections at local level. Then it focuses on the testing of the theory of second order elections for local elections in the Czech Republic in 2002 and 2006. Generally it evaluates the results of these local elections and compares the theoretical preconditions with the outcomes. Local Political Systems in the Nordic Countries

Diploma thesis deals with local polity, politics and policies in the Nordic countries. The main aim of this thesis is to study local polity, politics and policies in the Nordic countries and then identify what are the most important common features of these countries and the most significant differences between them. The first chapter deals with known theoretical approaches to distinctions between local government systems. This chapter presents some typologies of local government systems. Another four chapters are dedicated to local politics in the Nordic countries. The second chapter is focused on Sweden. The third chapter deals with Denmark. The fourth chapter is focused on Norway, while the fifth chapter on Iceland. The each of these four chapters is split into several subchapters, which are focused especially on competencies, tasks and duties of municipalities, structure and functioning of municipal institutions, forms of intermunicipal cooperation, number and size of municipalities, structure of municipal earnings and expenditures and other financing matters, electoral and party systems at local level, neighborhood councils, user democracy and free commune experiments. Union of towns and municipalities of the Czech republic and its influence on political system of CR

SMOČR (Union of town and municipalities of the Czech republic) of is a non- governmental organization, founded as a interest group of corporate bodies, members of Union are municipalities and towns. Union is a partner for governmental and parliamental political representation and participates in preparation and creation of legislative projects in a suggestion proceeding in areas touching competences of municipalities and towns. Enforcing its interests Union seek accenting municipalities and towns interests and subsidiarity principle. Activity of Union is ground on mayors, chief magistrates and representatives, who dedicate common self-government problem as warrant members of Union. Proclaimed goal of Union is legitimate lobbying as well. Thesis also touch a cooperation of Union with similar partner-unions in other countries and its influence as a partner organization to EU institutions.
Application of the Theory of Coalitions on Regional Level

This article aims to analyse the process of constitute district's counsils in Czech Republic after elections in 2000 and 2004. At first it defines the theory of games, theory of rational choice and theory of coalition and it gives their interpretation. It also talks about electoral and party systems as factors which influence the formation of coalitions. Afterwards it focuses on the electoral period since 2000 and it evaluates the results of election to the representative districts in Czech Republic. It talks about the electoral period after 2004 in detail. Generally it evaluates the results of election and compares the theoretical precondition with the origin coalition. Municipal interest articulation in the Czech Republic. The case of Central Bohemian Region

This diploma thesis aims to provide an overview of strategies that are implemented by municipalities in the Central Bohemian region to articulate their interests. As a part of this work, a theoretical framework of interest articulation is covered, including models of direct form, indirect form and semi-direct form of interest articulation. Subject of the research is a sample of 14 municipalities in the Central Bohemian region. The results are based on semi- strucutred interveiws and provide with an overview of specific purposes and respective strategies of the municipalities according to a selected model (direct, indirect and semi-direct) of interest articulation.
