Investigations of orthotropic decks
Urushadze, Shota ; Frýba, Ladislav ; Pirner, Miroš
The investgations of orthotropic decks carried out in the Institute of Theoretivcal and Applied Mechanics,v.v.i., Academy of Sciensces of the Czech Republic, for the project of the European Union „BRIFAG“ are described. The response of orthotropic decks is studie under dynamic loads including the crack propagation, estimation of fatigue life of the bridge elements, e.t.c. It was found that the most vulenrable detail appeared at the spatial connection of the deck with cross and longitudinal beams. The most important results are shown in a a figure of stress ranges as a function of the number of stress cycles.
Improvement of fatigue life of steel orthotropic desks with carbon fibre reinforcement composites
Urushadze, Shota ; Frýba, Ladislav ; Pirner, Miroš
Orthotropic decks are progressive structural elements which often occur in civil and mechanical engineering. Strengthening of construction with use of external reinforcement materials manufactured from composite fibers in one of many ways to improve static and dynamic behaviour of structures.
Damage identification of structures using the dynamic response
Urushadze, Shota ; Pirner, Miroš ; Frýba, Ladislav
The identification is a process which presents the characteristics of a structure. It uses the dynamic response of a structure due to an impulse by standard load. The response uses the forced vibration and the method can also estimate the fatigue life of a structure. The paper presents a summary of the experiments in a laboratory as well as in situ.
Nondestructive methods for detection of hidden fatigue crack in the steel bridge element
Valach, Jaroslav ; Frýba, Ladislav ; Jandejsek, Ivan ; Lesák, Jaroslav ; Vála, Ondřej ; Urushadze, Shota
In this paper we discuss applicability and usability of three non-destructive methods for investigation of fatigue crack propagation in railway bridge structural elements subjected to the repetitive loading. These methods are: an optical method based on the digital image correlation, the active thermography method and the classical x-ray radiographic method.
Experimentální studie dynamiky chůze ve vertikálním a horizontálním směru
Pirner, Miroš ; Urushadze, Shota
The authors have noticed the newest observations and few analysis of excitation mechanism. They suppose that the import knowledge of the forces frequencies of step or strides for different walking velocities is the most important for the further analysis and analysis of the mechanisms. The authors received the vertical force dependence on the walking velocity, on stride length and on the weight of pedestrian. The new research step is focused onlateral horizontal forces.
Výzkum vyztužení karbonovými vlákny ocelových elementů
Frýba, Ladislav ; Pirner, Miroš ; Urushadze, Shota
Carbon fibre reinforced composites represent a new structural element which could increase the strength and stiffness of steel plates. Static and dynamic tests including fatigue loads. Application on steel bridges with orthotropic decks.
Basic information serving to developed qualitatively new codes corresponding to probabilistic assessment exposed to dynamic loaded structures
Pirner, Miroš ; Fischer, Ondřej ; Marek, Pavel ; Urushadze, Shota
The first condition for a reliable structure is a well-judged design, correctly and carefully calculated, and based on authentic input values. So fare we were used to take these values from the Codes and in the case that they can very accidentally, this variability can be respected by means of a coefficient. A more realistic approach is to take into account directly the random nature of the property in question, and to describe it in probabilistic terms (by a histogram). This can be done with the use of SBRA (Simulation Based Reliability Assessment) method. Here some considerations are shown, how the actual Czech Codes should be reorganized for probabilistic design, in the case of dynamic civil engineering problems. In this paper the problems of loading are treated; the problems of structural response and some special examples are shown in the full text on CD.
Škody na fasádních deskách - teorie a experimentální ověřování
Kratěna, Jindřich ; Šperl, Martin ; Urushadze, Shota
The facade of a multi-storey building was clad with Cembonit cladding sheets installed in the Autumn of 2003. In the Summer of 2004 the first destruction of these cladding sheets took place particularly on the southern face of the building. Further destructions took place in the Summer of 2005. The cause of damage was investigated and ascertained both theoretically and experimentally.
Aeroelastický model s Froudeovým číslem a bez něho
Pirner, Miroš ; Fischer, Ondřej ; Urushadze, Shota
The article presents some problems related to experimental verification of footbridge vibrations excited by wind and pedestrian loads on models with and without the Froude number.
Použití pasivního tlumiče pro potlačení pohybů lávky
Pirner, Miroš ; Urushadze, Shota
This paper describes the types of footbridges which theoretical and physical models are solved. The highly sensitivity to dynamic load is decreased due to ball vibration absorber or due to liquid damper. Effectiveness comparison of the two types of dampers is recommended.
