Hans Krása and his opera for children Brundibár

Summary: Without a doubt, Hans Krása belongs amongst the most important figures in Czech music. In my thesis, I would like to focus on his opera for children, Brundibar, which represents an important bridge between free cultural expression and life behind the walls at the Terezin concentration camp. Clearly, it will be fruitful to compare both the Prague and Terezin versions of this piece. With this work, I would like to delve into the personality of the composer, his output, and musical life in the Terezin ghetto. Musical culture in Cyprus with a focus on the piano works and piano pedagogy

The diploma thesis deals with the Cypriot music culture and mainly focuses on piano education and piano works. The aim of this work was to introduce the main representatives of Cypriot classical music, the music life on Cyprus and the history of piano education until the present day. A part of the work is also a personal research, carried out by a questionnaire, and a didactic and interpretive insight on the fundamental instructive work Kinderlaunen of the Cypriot pianist and composer Nicolas Economou. The work is divided into six chapters, which draw information from accessible literature and mainly from a research made in this field. The six chapters could be notionally divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the music history of the island by introducing distinctive personalities of the Cypriot classical music and by mapping the music life on Cyprus. Furthermore, this part deals with the Cypriot music education system and the teaching methods in piano education. The practical part contains the analysis and results of the submitted questionnaire and the didactic and interpretive insight on the instructive piano work of the earlier mentioned Cypriot pianist and composer. Towards a Method for Piano Technique

The aim of my diploma thesis is to describe and to compare various methodical principles at technique of the piano playing. My study is divided to three main parts (chapters). The first chapter describes opinions o f great pianists and pedagogues for piano teaching. I'm writting about representatives o f so- called russian school - Anton Rubinstein, Konstatntin Igumnov and Genrich Neugauz, czech pianist Ilona Stepanova-Kurzova and also about famous english pedagogue Tobias Matthay. The second chapter focuse on piano technique in elementary teaching. In this part I'm using pieces o f knowledge selected from czech piano methodical literatury above all. The third chapter is about methods o f playing and practise individual elements of piano technique, for instans piano tone, chords, using o f piano pedal and so on. Music physiology, ergonomics and physical therapy in the health promotion, prevention and treatment of the playing related musculoskeletal disorders by musicians and its applicationin in the music education

The aim of this thesis is to describe the current state of knowledge and research on music physiology. The information on music physiology and musician`s medicine, ergonomics, physical therapy and neuroscience of music is presented with regard to its pedagogical use, with the goal of prevention and treatment of playing related musculoskeletal disorders in musicians. The creation of the good movement habits is considered for useful prevention. Therefore, a method of compensatory exercises is being developed, which was verified in the experimental part of this work. Positive influence of the therapy of postural disorders by means of the ontogenetical kinesiology and yoga came up to our expectations. In the didactic part we introduce educational programms aiming at better understanding of music physiology and training in using exercises in the self-treatment. Development of musicality in children with specific learning disabilities

Diploma thesis "Development of musicality in children with specific learning disabilities" will be focused on children in elementary school age with diagnosis specific learning disabilities. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretic part includes information about specific leasing disabilities and about basic musical term. Also, there is a chapter about the psychomotor development. The practical part involves information about three children with specific leasing disabilities, be specific two boys and one girl at the similar age.This work will be find out level of musical skills in children with specific learning disabilities and compare their level of musical skills with intact children In second part of this thesis will be particular suggestions and procedure how to develop musicality in children with specific learning disabilities.
Methodology of Elementary Piano Teaching with Suggestion of Optimal Solution for Selection and Arrangement of Sheet Music

The beginnings of piano playing of children play an important role in laying quality pianistic groundings, which are crucial for their further pianistic development as well as for building their relationship with the instrument and music itself. This thesis is devoted to the study of elementary piano teaching of children aged 5-7 years. The aim of the thesis is to map the current state of piano pedagogy in Czech Republic and to propose optimal methodological procedures and solutions in the initial piano lessons based on modern pedagogical approaches and the needs of contemporary piano pedagogy. In five chapters of the work, this goal will be achieved by examining the historical background of piano schools in Bohemia over the centuries to this day, by setting up theoretical and practical bases for the researched issue and finally by research itself. Within the framework of practical bases, which served as a basis for subsequent research, an optimal methodological approach to teaching in the early stage of piano playing was proposed for children aged 5-7 years, which corresponds to the most modern requirements of the field. The optimal selection and arrangement of sheet music for the given area of pedagogy was also designed with a focus on Czech and foreign piano schools and instructive piano...
