Folk religiosity during High Middle Ages and Early Modern times as reflected in material culture (the example of small ceramic sculpture) This work focuses on study of religious practice and urban everyday life of urban folk groups in Prague Towns from High Middle Ages till Early Modern times. The most common archaeological artifacts reflecting religious practice are small clay figurines found both in urban and in rural environment. These figurines made of fired clay depict in most cases Madonna with Christ-child and various saints, nevertheless profane figurines and various zoomorphic artifacts can be found too. This work is focused mainly on findings of clay figurines obtained during the large archeological excavation on Republic Square in Prague, which offered a unique collection of artifacts dated from 1250 to 1600. Analogies from the Central Europe will be considered in the process of evaluation of the assemblage mentioned above. It is not known exactly what the purpose of these artifacts was and it is still a subject of discussion, into which we will try to bring some new light. The paintings in the cloister of St. Wenceslas Church in the context of wall paintings at the turn of the 16th century in Olomouc
Haragová, Vladěna ; Ottová, Michaela (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
The first part of the paper deals with the mural paintings on a Christological theme decorating the northern and eastern walls of the High Gothic ambulatory, which is a part of the National cultural monument Přemyslid Castle. Last Judgement, Annunciation, Adoration of the Magi and Adoration of the Shepherds are depicted on the northern side of the cloister. On the opposite wall between the windows there is a representation of two donators. The eastern front of the ambulatory is decorated with scenes depicting the Crucifixion, Lamentation, Resurrection and Christ with the Arma Christi. Paintings are dated successively from the late 15th century to the first two decades of the 16th century. The different dating of paintings, of course, demonstrates various inspirational sources. The study also reflects many recent discoveries that reveal the origins of the decoration of the cloister. These paintings were probably commissioned by members of the Olomouc Chapter, who were in close contact with Humanistic Societas Maierhofiana. Further the paper focuses on the wall paintings in the John the Baptist' Chapel, where the scenes adorn not only the walls, but also the vault of the eastern field. The frescos were probably created between 1493 and 1517 by the hands of several painters.

Chigladze, Kateřina ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
Title: The humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century In my work I tried to create an overview of the humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century. I dedicated the bigger part of it to the court painters Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein, Lucas Cranach. Dürer's first portraits of Erasmus was charcoal-drawing, his second piece - a cupper engraving of Erasmus. Like Dürer Hans Holbein painted divers Erasmus portraits in different styles. Cranach painted the Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg not only within an open landscape, but also sitting on a desk the same way as Dürer did with his painting "Hieronymus im Gehäus". His first pictures Cranach responded to Dürer's cupper engraving of the cardinal A. von Brandenburg. All pictures have in common that they show different iconographic symbols. Other ones show the figure sitting at a table and writing letters, in the middle of a landscape or in a room. Key Words Portraitist - 16th century - Saxony - Lucas Cranach - humanists
