Design of a Part of an Information System for the Use of Industrial Data

This thesis deals with the description and innovation in an industrial company, which is focused on the diagnostics of production machines using mainly big data collection. The theoretical part of the thesis describes industry 4.0, the demands of big data on storage and also the basics of change management. The analytical part includes a description of the company, an analysis of the current state and a proposal for change. The proposed changes are the transition from a relational database to a non relational one and a new web application for data visualization. The last part of the thesis describes the implementation of these changes and their evaluation.

SAP Reporting with the Use of In-memory Database

The master's thesis deals with the in-memory database SAP HANA which keeps all data directly in main memory with the use of column-oriented data layout. Practical part of the thesis consists in development of application in SAP R/3 environment, with which performance of the in-memory database SAP HANA and the traditional database MaxDB is compared, including influence of used data layout. The results show that the in-memory database is advantageous especially for analytical operations based on aggregate functions.

The newly generated knowledge is then used to develop a new information technology strategy and implement it to a company using the best organization development and change practices.

The Master’s thesis deals with the proposal of database system for event management according to the requirements of the client, which is ANeT-Advanced Network Technology, Ltd. The first part of the thesis summarizes the theoretical bases of database systems and object-oriented programming focusing on .NET Framework. In the second part the current situation and the specific needs of the company are analyzed, and based on this analysis a solution proposal is created in the third part.

My bachelor’s thesis is devoted to evaluation of official website of Faculty of business and management, Brno University of technology (http://www.fbm.vutbr.cz). Usability, accessibility and information architecture are evaluated. The modified version of website is suggested, based on findings, which secures a higher user comfort and is consistent with „Best practice – Pravidla pro tvorbu přístupného webu“ accessibility rules, issued by Department of informatics Czech Republic.

The diploma thesis deals with the selection and implementation of an information system designed for the needs of a company that acts as a local provider of Internet connection. The introductory part contains the theoretical background serving as the basis of the analytical part. The current situation is analyzed using several methods. Based on the evaluation of the current offer of selected criteria is chosen the solution that best meets the needs of the company. The conclusion contains an assessment of benefits with subsequent economic evaluation.

The first part is dedicated to the theoretical basiss and clarified fundamental concepts in the information system field. The secod part of this thesis is focused on the analysis of the company´s information system. At the end, potential changes and measures, leading to an improvement of the current state of the IS/IT, are suggested.
