Heat insulating moulded refractory concretes
Bednárek, Jan ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The thesis deals with the possibility of specific weight lowering of kaolin suspensions using air-entraining agents. These agents are usually used as concrete admixtures. The goal of the thesis is to verify an alternative possibility of creating porous structure in kaolin suspensions in order to prepare heat insulating moulded refractory concretes without using lightweight fillers. The effect of several air-entraining agents was compared, after that the dosage of agent and mixing conditions were optimized. The stabilization of prepared foams and practical application of selected agents were also part of the thesis.
High-performance concretes based on the secondary raw materials
Sáček, Josef ; Brandštetr, Jiří (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
This work is devoted to study of physical-mechanical properties and structure of high performance concretes (HPC) based on portland cement. The attention is focused on possibility of substitution of economic high-cost components of concrete with utilization of secondary raw materials or cheaper components. Properties of raw materials and their influence on whole quality of concrete were tracked by various methods. Mechanical properties of prepared HPC samples were tested especially (compression and flexural strength) with further microscopic study of structure. Isoperibolic calorimetry and X-ray powder diffraction method were also used for concrete characterisation. These methods allowed to determine the influence of raw materials on prepared HPC and to carry out a certain optimization among price and quality of this material.
Kaoline whitness improvement by mechano-chemical treatment
Uher, Samuel ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The thesis deals with the issue of increasing the whiteness of kaolin by acid leaching simultaneously with milling. Kaolin was prepared from kaolin raw material from the Otovice quarry (Sedlecký kaolin a.s.), which was subsequently grined in suspension with oxalic acid, tartaric acid or citric acid in a ball planetary mill. We had been observing the influence of the type and concentration of acid and grinding time on many aspects, such as: the whiteness index, the amount of leached Fe and Ti, the distribution of Fe and Ti in kaolin, and the kaolin structure order.
Mineral wool and binding agent interaction and behavior study
Fiala, Michal ; Šoukal, František (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
Diploma's thesis describes resolution of cause technological problems in mineral wool manufacturig in company Saint-Gobain Orsil. Main attention is paid to thermal and volatile process in mineral wool from filtration chamber and common commercial sales. Samples of mineral wool were characterizated by thermal analysis (simultaneous TG-DTA), effluent gas analysis (EGA), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Thermal analysis experiments was used to check thermal volatile processes. Technological problem of burning is linked with rise of isocyanic acid.
High-strength macrodefect-free composites for refractory applications
Ryšková, Martina ; Másilko, Jiří (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the study of heat-resistant macrodefect-free (MDF) cements based on calcium-aluminate cement and organic polymer polyvinylalcohol. Macrodefect-free cements are particularly important in excellent mechanical parameters, which include tensile strength in bending. These materials are characterized by their low porosity and the absence of microcracks. The main role of the MDF cements takes binding and non-flush interaction with polymer cement, which affect the chemical and physical-mechanical properties. The main problem in applying the MDF cements is the low water resistance. To prepare macrodefect-free samples were used calcium-aluminate cement (SECAR 51, SECAR 71) and polymer polyvinyl Gohsenol GH 17S. They were observed changes in mechanical properties depend on the type of curing samples were cured at laboratory temperature and 70°C. Samples annealed at 1000 ° C and then tested for tensile strength in bending before and after annealing, compared to mechanical properties. Thermal stress was tested by doping a microscope TGA-DTA-EGA and TMA analysis.
MDF composites AC-PVAl with increased moisture resistance
Repka, Martin ; Brandštetr, Jiří (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
Polymerem impregnované cementové materiály představují zajímavou a perspektivní alternativu klasických portlandských cementových past.
Calcium aluminate hydrates - laboratory preparation and characterisation
Koplík, Jan ; Opravil, Tomáš (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
Calcium aluminate phases are important parts of Ordinary Portland cement and Alumina cement. Various calcium aluminate hydrates originate during the hydration of calcium alumina phases. Their origin depends on the conditions of hydration. In the diploma thesis was investigated hydration of four calcium aluminate phases – CA, CA2, C12A7, C3A under the conditions of four pH – 6, 9, 11, 12,65. Calcium aluminate phases were prepared from CaCO3 and Al2O3 by clinkering in solid phase in laboratory oven. The phases were hydrated for 48 hours. Kinetics of the hydration was investigated by calorimetry. Calcium aluminate hydrates were identified by XRD and DTA.
Oxidative passivation of metal powder
Kuna, Petr ; Solný, Tomáš (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
This thesis deals with the study of the effect of the oxide layer on the surface of metal powder on selected properties of fuel-oxidizer pyrotechnic system. Research includes finding optimal thickness of the oxide layer with using XPS and SEM methods, its conditions of formation and its influence on pressure-time curve and to resistance to ESD.
Utilization of basalt fibers in alkali activated materials
Hrubý, Petr ; Šoukal, František (referee) ; Kalina, Lukáš (advisor)
Alkali activated materials (AAMs) represent construction materials with a huge potential especially because of environmental and economic aspects but sufficient mechanical properties as well. A fibre or fabric reinforcement of the AAMs could support more widespread application potential due to the mechanical properties, fracture toughness or composite durability improvement. Various alkaline activators were used for a blast furnace slag (BFS) activation to produce a suitable matrix for basalt fibres (BF) implementation in this thesis. The BFs represent applicable reinforcing material because of its favourable mechanical and thermal properties. Still, the utilization of BFs in the AAMs is quite limited due to the fibres low chemical stability under the alkaline conditions. Accelerated leaching tests with a determination of basalt fibres chemical composition same as tensile strength change using various analytical techniques (XRD, XPS, SEM-EDX, ICP-OES) have confirmed these assumptions. An influence of basalt fabric reinforcement in one or more layers on the mechanical properties was determined with the meaning of the compressive and flexural strengths. The fibre/matrix adhesion and transition zone properties were studied using SEM-EDX and pull-out tests as well because they are crucial parameters for the composite material reinforcement efficiency.
