Evaluation of ecotoxicity of selected chemicals with using algal test.
Kosárová, Hedvika ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ecotoxicity of 2 - [(2,6-dichlorophenyl)aniline] benzene acetic acid (diclofenac), ?-methyl-4-(2-methylpropyl) benzene acetic acid (ibuprofen) and mixture of cadmium and diclofenac and studies the above using algal toxicity test in accordance with ISO 8692. The theoretical part describes the issue of pharmaceuticals in the environment, and characteristics of standards algae tests and alternative tests. Freshwater green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus were used as testing organisms in all the implemented algal toxicity tests. By the means of these tests, the IrC50 values for the standard substance potassium dichromate, the drugs diclofenac and ibuprofen and cadmium were determined. The toxicity of cadmium in mixture with diclofenac was also evaluated.
Assessment of contamination around the landfill Pozďátky
Sedláček, Jaroslav ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the characterization of the locality and on the evaluation of water contamination in a short distance from Pozďátky - the hazardous landfill. The occurrence of the selected contaminants is assessed. The samples were collected at five different locations: landfill leaks, the confluence of these leaks with the Prašinec creek, in other parts of the Prašinec creek affected by contaminated waters and on the very site of the creek Prašinec where no water pollution has been expected.
Application of alternative ecotoxicity tests for evaulation of contaminated environmental matrices
Doležalová, Šárka ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with assessment of harmful effects of contaminated matrices on biota of nature ecosystems via alternative ecotoxicology tests. The alternative and standard ecotoxicology tests are summarised and compared in the thesis. Furthermore, the need of broadening of basic test battery required by actual Czech legislation is discussed. The basic test battery should be widened by the tests on decomposer trophic level for solid and liquid matrices and by contact tests for solid matrices. In connection with that the test batteries for evaluation of environmental matrices ecotoxicity are proposed.
Aplication of ICP-MS in environmental analysis and possibilities of this technique for the determination of silicon in waters
Bohdálková, Veronika ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Čáslavský, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the application of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) in environmental analysis. This method offers multi-element analysis on trace and ultra-trace levels as well as isotopic analysis of various species in diverse matrices like drinking, surface and waste waters, sediments, biological samples, food and others. ICP-MS due its high sensitivity, ability of parallel determination of many elements and speed of analysis is more and more applied in the field of pollution control and environmental protection. The main goal of this bachelor thesis is the evaluation of the possibility of silicon determination in various kinds of water by ICP-MS.
The problems of interaction testing compounds in ecotoxicology.
Pavlíčková, Ivana ; Pavlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
Bachelor thesis summarizes current knowledges of the problems of interaction of tested compounds and the determination of ecotoxicity. The work deals with the evaluation of ecotoxicity of binary mixtures of substances, toxic metals, or biologically active substances. The work is a brief summary of ecotoxicity tests used.
Ecotoxicological evaluation of chemicals using algal tests
Osinová, Petra ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis covers use of algal test for evaluation of ecotoxicity of chemical agents. First part details algae and algal tests metodology. Second part investigates applicability of different algae species and algae test methods for ecotoxicological analysis of selected chemical substances

Importance of contact tests of ecotoxicity
Modlitbová, Pavlína ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with an issue of contact tests of ecotoxicity and their importance for solid matrices testing as wastes, contaminated soil etc. According to the requierements of current legislative, ecotoxicity of these materials is evaluated only for results obtained with testing their water leach. Need of insertion ecotoxicity contact tests into mandatory set of tests is discussed in thesis, because current set of tests is relevant only for water ecosystem and does not support sufficient prediction for eventual ecotoxicologic impacts for terrestrial ecosystem.
The problems of fenol sorption from waste water
Židek, Michal ; Pavlovský,, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
The bachelor work deals of sorption of phenol from waste water. In theoretical part the basic characteristic of phenol, their effects and presence in environmental compounds are described. The possibility of removal phenol from waste water in waste water treatment is also described. The adsorption process of removal phenol introduced too. The analysis current adsorbents using in removal phenol from aqueous solutions and characteristic properties are also presented in relation to materials on the base of clay minerals. The experimental part is focused on the possibility of removal phenol from aqueous solution via adsorption mechanism under various pH conditions.
