Polarization State of the Optical Wave
Macháček, Ivan ; Křivák, Petr (referee) ; Wilfert, Otakar (advisor)
The aim if this bachelor thesis was simulating optical wave and determination her polarization state by Stokes parameters. Further was studied influence of environment on polarization wave. In introduction work were defined fundamental terms concerning wave polarization, further were short described used polarization devices. Main part of this work was matrix description of some measuring methods, susceptible determine polarization wave and polarization characteristics environment, emphasis was given on possibility usage Fourier analysis. In experimental part were used piece of knowledge from mathematical simulation. Subject experimental were: measurement parameters wave plates, polarization wave and Mueller matrixes of some environment. Measured values were compared with theoretic groundwork. Calculations and generation graph was solving by the help of function created in development system Matlab. From results of the experimental part were determined findings, susceptible improving accuracy of measurement.
Optical spectrometer designing
Dohnal, Marek ; Křivák, Petr (referee) ; Hudcová, Lucie (advisor)
This project focuses the problems of projection and design of optical instruments being instrumental to determination of elements in various material compounds. There are described here the structures of fundamental optical instruments and their possible variants, one of which has been chosen and further entered into details. The work specifically refers to an optical spectrometer, which by its nature, ranges the bands both of visible and near-infrared radiation. The work presents basic principles of particular parts, which the existent instrument can consist of, the advantages and disadvantages brought by the single parts. For specifically proposed configuration, intentionally set in such a way it uses state-of-the art measurement methods obtaining the best possible measurement results, the work analyzes in details the method of operation and solves numerically the theoretical assumptions for correct operation of the spectrometer. A constituent of the project is an experimental measurement testifying, with certain errors, to the theoretical solutions. The measurement errors that could result from chosen arrangement and chosen measurement method are numerically expressed in a separate sub-chapter. Further various calibration methods are mentioned, based on which the calibration method used during the experimental measurement was selected. The last part of project is focused on circumferential design of the optical spectrometer, where series of suitable circumferential elements was scrutinized. For basic elements there are presented their parameters and possible troubles related to the implementation. Furthermore the realisation of project was carried out and the spectrometer was assembled with the parts available in laboratory. The results were elaborated with a computer programme created specially for this application and then compared to a professional spectrometer.
Possibilities of waste heat recovery from internal combustion engines
Křivák, Petr ; Pospíšil, Jiří (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
Increasing demands for vehicular traffic to reduce the environmental impact and consumption of fossil fuels, led an effort to increase the efficiency of the combustion process and the car as a whole. One way to achieve this is to use the waste heat of the combustion process, especially waste heat of exhaust gases. This heat can be converted into electrical energy. Consumption of electricity in modern cars is increasing. The presented work deals with the possibilities, how to using waste heat of exhaustgases from internal combustion engine. Focused on application of producing electricity. The paper analyzed the current state of car traffic, and then provides an overview of possible technological solutions using waste heat of exhaust gases. The main part is devoted to thermoelectric generators, their construction and possible design. In conclusion is made the energy balance with use thermoelectric generator.
Model of the metropolitan optical network
Prudík, Jiří ; Hudcová, Lucie (referee) ; Křivák, Petr (advisor)
The purpose of this master’s thesis is foremost to provide a simple guide how to build elements of optical metropolitan area network. The basic model consists to sequence of construction, network topology, passive and active parts. The collection contains examples of alternative technology such as Wireless LAN with different frequency. The optical network construction based on optical cable, fibres, splices, trays, adapters, connectors and active parts for example a lot of media convertor models. After that there are demonstrating type of wavelength division multiplexer used in metropolitan area network – passive planar PCL splitter. One of the passive planar splitter are used to increase optical fibre channel. At the end of the collection a simplified examples of used measurements – optical time domain reflectometry and optical fibre transmission. Contains standard protocols or reflectogram. The conclusion of this thesis summarizes costs of FTTb (Fibre To The Building) model of optical metropolitan area network in Czech republic and future contribution for society.

Long Range Free Space Optical Links
Křivák, Petr ; Vlček, Čestmír (referee) ; Vašinek, Vladimír (referee) ; Wilfert, Otakar (advisor)
This dissertation thesis deals with a long range free space optical links for communication over the distance of few tens of kilometers in the atmosphere. The problematic of the beam propagation and atmospheric effects influencing the beam and the quality of the communication protocol are discussed. The measuring link is also designed to study the parameters of the communication link work conditions. The measuring link consists of two heads. The transmitter head is designed to use two optical beams with laser diodes at the wavelength of the atmospheric windows 850 or 1550 nm and the overall power of hundredths of mW. The receiver head includes the Fressnel lens. For the detection of very weak signal, the avalanche photodiode is used. In the end of this work, due to the high power of the transmitting optical beam, the laser safety conditions are also discussed, including the deduced optical transmitters construction recommendations.
