Methodology for development of services in public administration
Čunek, David ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (advisor) ; Kunstová, Renáta (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is the application of best practice methodology to the development of services in public administration and e-Government. The work focuses on interoperable services that can be integrated across departments of public administration or businesses in the private sector. In section 2 we describe the various aspects influencing the development of interoperable services in public administration using the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) as a basis for classifying interoperability dimensions. Section 3 evaluates current state of services in public administration focusing on information interoperability that addresses syntactic, structural and semantic heterogeneity. We have found that Services of Public Administration Portal (PVS) suffer from high levels of structural and syntactic heterogeneity, and we discuss possible ways to standardize service interfaces in public administration in order to improve interoperability. Creation of standardized library of services has been proposed as a possible way forward. In section 4 of the thesis we propose a methodological framework for the development of e-Government services using the best practices methods identified in the private sector domain. The main emphasis is placed on library services and its role in the lifecycle of services. Stages of lifecycle of services are decomposed into sub-phases so that they match phases in the MMDIS methodology.
Cloud computing and its model Platform-as-a-Service
Theier, Radek ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
This paper deals with the way of providing IT services via the Internet, which is nowadays known as cloud computing. It further focuses on the model Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), in which vendors offer Web-based development-platforms for developing and deploying full programs online. The main objective of the paper is to introduce this relatively new approach to developing applications as well as to shed light on related advantages and obstacles, thus contrasting with traditional ways of developing applications. The thesis also contains a market analysis of contemporary PaaS platforms, which divides possible solutions into three basic categories. The purpose of the analysis is to make it easier for potential customers to orientate on the market and help them to pick the right platform which suits their requirements best. In the practical part there is a demonstration of the process of creating a simple database application using one of the platforms described earlier in this paper. At the end of the thesis the author makes an attempt to forecast the future of the whole area of cloud computing and the model Platform-as-a-Service.
Classification of Services in Cloud Computing
Osecký, Michal ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
From the fact that there are different approaches to the definition of the term cloud computing follows that the approaches to the description of its inner organization also vary. In the next part, the thesis looks into these approaches and briefly compares them. It further describes the economical model of this way of providing IT services, which is a result of the approach developed within the technological and economical Software-as-a-Service model. Attention is paid to the basic technological questions of cloud computing, i.e. mainly to the design of services, management of databases, data safety and scaling of the computing resources. The final analysis of services provided within cloud computing is first done vertically, i.e. it is a comparison of the different types of services relating to the individual layers of the technological model, starting with the provision of hardware and computing services, over platform services to the Software-as-a-Service layer of the model. Subsequently, a comparison of services of several big players is made in the individual layers, i.e. horizontally. The thesis focuses on the on-demand way of providing IT services, currently known as cloud computing. Attention is paid specifically to the organization and interoperability of the provided IT services within cloud computing, as understood today by the expert public and commercial sphere. First the thesis deals with various possible definitions of the term cloud computing, it summarizes these approaches and attempts to outline the term and its determining attributes. This outline is then followed by describing the historical development of the distributed applications and older models of providing ICT services, from which cloud computing originates. The goal of the thesis is to describe the issue of classification of services in cloud computing and make the above-mentioned comparisons in an clear way and based on suitable metric. As a conclusion, the author presents his view on the future of the cloud computing and sums up the whole thesis.

Koutný, Jiří ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
The goal of this work is to describe the model for providing software as a service from the perspective of enterprises, compare it with other models of providing software and present potential benefits and risks of this interesting concept. The practical part of this work includes a comprehensive guide of launching the specific SaaS application into the market. At the beginning of the work I try to define the concept of SaaS and describe its historical background. In the main chapter of the theoretical part I compare the key features of SaaS compared to traditional software in the perspective of enterprises and describe its use for specific types of applications. Theoretical part conclusion is a reflection on the future of the SaaS model, including potential problems and impacts on the ICT market. The practical part of my work describes the strategy of launching my own SaaS application called Collabim into the market. The application is used for administration and analyzing activities associated with search engine optimization (SEO). Introduction of the practical part shows the most important functions and tools of Collabim and the environment in which it has been created. Furthermore, it describes the target group, competition analysis, SWOT analysis, marketing strategy, the analysis of costs and revenues and defines the main objectives of the project. Finally I summarize current status of the project, describe the mistakes I made, and schedule all activities that must be done before Collabim market lunch. The full conclusion is devoted to the reflection on the future of the entire project.
Services categorization from business and IT perspective
Matas, Radek ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
With rapid technological progress, the services' share of national GDP is still increasing. The question is, whether the services are properly and sufficiently supported by available information technology instruments. This thesis will be a contribution to the development in the new academic branch called Service Science, Management and Engineering which is concerned with studying of services and it will become a part of this branch. The sence of service categorization is in transparent and organized determination. Some service categorizations in general or in the field of information technology have been made in the past but I will try to add some new perspectives or, where appropriate, to add comments to existing categorizations.
