Impact of european legislation on the czech financial market

The thesis is focused on European markets financial instruments directives effective for czech financial market and is divided into three main parts -- a summary of european legislation in the financial markets field, evaluation of the impact of MiFID on the czech financial market and assumption for passing MiFID II with assessing whether new legislation needed. The thesis contains assessments of formation, progress and impact of European law on czech financial market. Evaluation of impacts is not just a description, but the real assessment of impact based on quantitative indicators. Recommendations concerning adoption of a new legislation proceed from lacks and issues found out on czech financial market.
Risk management with respect on Basel II and Basel III

The aim of my thesis is to evaluate the risk management system of Czech banks according to the Basel II rules. In my thesis I also deal with the ability of the Czech banking system to accept new Basel III rules. The first part of my thesis focuses on definition of risks and methods of risk management according to Basel rules. They discuss diferent risks that they fall within activity to the rules on the capital adequacy of the bank. The second part of thesis focuses on characteristics of Basel II and III and how the rules are implemented to the law of the EU and then to the law of Czech Republic. Part of the second part is also shortages of Basel II. On this shortage, Basel Committee on banking supervision responded to introduce new accord Basel III. In the final part, both of part is connected on the samples of three banks. After analysis, the thesis rates readiness Czech banks on the new capital accord and new risk management. The thesis summarizes readiness of the Czech banking system on the Basel III rules.
Impacts of implementation of Basel III on lending in the Czech Republic

This thesis shows the changes the new Basel III banking regulation from the original Basel II regulation in Czech and European legislation. The next section brings the results of foreign studies concerning the effect of changes in spreads on lending rates, gross domestic product and unemployment. These studies are based on various input data and assumptions. The practical part analyzes three selected Czech banks through scenarios and identifies possible impact of the new regulation in lending rates in 2012 - 2019th.
Professional liability insurance

This bachelor thesis deals with issues of professional liability insurance in Czech Republic with a deeper focus on attorneys at law and private doctors -- providers of non-state health care facilities. The thesis concentrates on the actual possibilities of negotiation of professional liability insurance on the czech insurance market, it compares the differences between individual offers of professional liability insurance and the collective contracts negotiated by the professional chambers. After a brief basic characteristics of the general liability insurance comes a chapter devoted to the general introduction of the matter of liability and damages legislation. Next chapters closely deal with the particular specifics of professional liability - first generally then with a focus on the insurance product designated to attorneys at law and eventually with focus on professional liability insurance optimalized for the needs of the private doctors.
Application of Data Envelopment Analysis on selected banking institutions

The following thesis documents application of Data Envelopment Analysis method on the sample of eight banks which were functioning on the Czech banking market during the period 2007 -- 2010 in order to measure their technical efficiency. Thesis consists of two major parts -- theoretical and practical one. The first part includes main principles, areas of application of the method and theoretical base of the DEA which will be used in the practical part. Second part presents brief description of the trends on the Czech banking market and it's development during the period 2007 -- 2010. Practical part also contains results of the measurement, its interpretation and analysis of main reasons of banks' inefficiency.
Analysis of the stock price behaviour around ex-dividend day

This diploma thesis deals with analysis of the stock price behavior around ex-dividend day, focusing on the European capital market. The theoretic part is aimed at summarizing of hypotheses and effects affecting the amount of the stock price in comparison with an amount of dividend during last 50 years. In the practical part, there is firstly described a methodology of testing, later the 3 main hypotheses are determined, that are finally tested on a sample of 220 European companies listed on twelve stock exchanges, including the Prague stock exchange. The aim will be to determine the validity of hypotheses on the sample as a whole as well as on some selected stock exchanges in the period between 2006 and 2010, the influence of the payment of dividend on share price, but also the potential impact of financial crisis. Furthermore, the possibility of arbitrage opportunities will be evaluated, which could be incurred on some stock exchanges or individual shares, as well as stability, efficiency and predictability of individual capital markets.
Modern trends in banking with a focus on communication and distribution channels

This thesis deals with the modern communication and distribution channels in banking. The aim is to show particular possibilities and limits of the selected distribution channels, to find the potential and to estimate the development of these channels in the future. Another aim is to provide banks with the knowledge in this segment to keep in order to be able to compete or at least to gain an initial competitive advantage.
Protection and forgery of payment instruments

This bachelor thesis deals with the counterfeit protection and counterfeit itself related issues of payment instruments. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the security features of banknotes and payment cards. In this thesis, banknotes are divided into three categories based on the method of production for classification purposes. These three categories consist of paper, polymer and hybrid banknotes and Czech crown, the Australian dollar and the Swazi lilangeni were chosen as representatives. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on counterfeiting particular payment instruments and comparison of them.
Co-branding of payment cards

The bachelor thesis deals with possibilities and use of co-branding within the financial institutions. It mainly focuses on co-branding payment cards aiming both, the analysis of the current situation on the market for these products in the Czech Republic as well as the outline of their new usage opportunities. The theoretical part defines not only the basic concepts of the branding phenomenon but also more deeply characterizes its part called co-branding. The paper then offers fundamental information about payment cards as a product where this marketing method is commonly implied. The practical section describes progress in the amount of credit cards in the Czech Republic depending on the number of other cards issued, specifies currently offered co-branded credit cards with regard to benefits for bank, partner and consumers, and outlines new possibilities of co-branding usage within financial institutions.
Mobile phone payments in developed and developing countries

The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of mobile phone payments within direct banking services. Theoretical part offers basic description of the currently-in-use direct banking products. This paper also characterises mobile phone payment systems in developing countries, their fundamental conditions, problems with their implementation and outlines M-PESA as an example of a successful system. The next section analyses mobile phone payment system in developed countries defining conditions and presumptions for mobile phone payments in order of becoming appropriate competitor to the cash payments. To summarize, at the end there is a comparison of the mobile phone payment systems in both, developed as well as developing countries emphasizing on the main differences.
