Motivation of volunteers in retirement homes in Prague

Volunteers are an important part of everyday life in homes for the elderly. The aim of this thesis is to determine how the volunteers are appreciated, as are volunteers motivated and what is the feedback to their activities. The thesis also mentions the causes that may lead to the eventual termination of volunteering. The theoretical part deals with seniors as a social group, which is an important part of our society. It further explains the concepts related to volunteering and defines prosocial behavior. Another important term, which the thesis explaines is motivation. The term "motivation" is later used in the relation to volunteering. The research is based on interviews with volunteers from selected homes, specifically in Prague. These interviews are then analyzed, with particular emphasis on what lead volunteers to their activity and what are the important things that persuade them to volunteer in the future. Furthermore there are mentionednegative aspects of volunteering. Finally, there are analyzed factors that have an impact on volunteering activities. Finally, the work follows necessities that must be done to improve the quality of the volunteer program by workers as well as by volunteers.
Homelessness of the elderly - what are the causes and the solutions

The main subject of this theses is the homelessness of the elderly people. The thesis focuses on explaining causes as well as potential ways out of homelessness. The thesis considers welfare services in Prague. The theoretical part of the thesis contains introduction to the problem of homelessness in general. It deals with critical life situations with potential to initiate homelessness. Another section of the theoretical part describes welfare services for elderly people and for elderly homeless people in Praque and considers strengths and weaknesses of these services. The empirical part examines the outcomes of questionnaire survey among elderly homeless people and people working with homeless persons. In the conclusion, the answers on research questions are evaluate. Also, suggestions for improvement the situation are made. Key words Homelessness, elderly people, causes, solutions.
Chosen organizations of Czech Caritas and their activities in the field of foreign humanitarian assistance and development cooperation

(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the activities of Czech Caritas organizations in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad. The aim of the work is to explore the possibilities and limits of transferring and sharing "good practice". The work consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is structured in three main chapters, which deal with humanitarian aid and development cooperation topics, describe the selected Czech Caritas organizations and define "good practice". The practical part consists of a descriptive research of the selected Czech Caritas organizations activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad executed between 2000 and 2016 and qualitative research of employee's approaches to mutual sharing of "good practice". Research questions are answered by combining questionnaire survey and interviews which are conducted with the help of the manual. The main results of this thesis is a summary table containing descriptions of activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad and presentation of employee's attitudes to "good practice" and its sharing.
Integration of adolescent Vietnamese in region Ústí

This thesis examines the integration of adolescents of Vietnamese origin in the Ústí nad Labem region. For my research I chose a region with high unemployment, in which there are large Vietnamese and Roma minorities. The aim of the research is to establish how the Vietnamese young people are integrated alongside the Roma youth in the region, to get to know these two different minorities, to assess, on the basis of a comparison, the degree of integration of the Vietnamese youth, and to determine what impact the aggravating factors in the place where they live has on these adolescents. The general part of the thesis deals with the arrival of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic in the past and the present, and with the coexistence of this minority with the original inhabitants in our country and the neighbouring countries of Central Europe. It presents the organisations that help this specific group and other supportive networks that newcomers to the Czech Republic can make use of. A further section is devoted to the Roma minority in the Ústí nad Labem region. It thus compares two different types of integration of minorities. Forms of spending free time of children in Rotava and creation of a proposal for a community center

The diploma theses is focused on free time of children in Rotava. The aim of this theses is to find out the forms of spending free time of children aged 6 - 12 years in Rotava. Another goal is to create a proposal for a community center. The theoretical part deals with the theme of childhood in today's type of society and also with the topic of free time. This section is focused on free time of children and its historical transformation. Then attention is aimed at the current status of free time of children and the factors affecting this area. Another chapter is devoted to community and community centers. The diploma theses also contains the research part. Interviews, non - participant observation in a public area of the town and secondary data analysis were used as research methods. The results of research show that the offer of free time activities for children aged 6 - 12 years in Rotava is insufficient and inappropriately conceived. Many children spend their free time in a public area of the town or at home with electronic media.
The Specifics of Individual Planning of Social Services with People with Dementia

The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities and limitations of the planning care and support to people with dementia. Diseases that lead to the dementia syndrome causing difficulties in almost all areas of life of the person who suffering from the syndrome. A person with dementia then requires specific approaches by others. The aim of this thesis is to identify the specifics of individual planning of social services with people with dementia and find out how is the individual planning with these persons done in selected homes with the special regime in the Capital City Prague and Central Bohemia.The first part provides an overview of current knowledge in the field of related topics. The second part contains the research which was carried in selected nine special regime homes in the Prague and Central Bohemia. In the research were used methods of semi- structured interviews and analysis of documents. In the research was found that the planning with people with dementia is in some aspects different from the planning with people without cognitive impairment. Goal of this diploma thesis is to analyse and assess, to what extent participation in a long-term coaching training influenced efficiency of pastoral interviews held by pastors. Theoretical part defines and describes servant, pastor, pastoral care, clarifies contents and focus of coaching, compares psychotherapy, coaching, counselling and pastoral care and searches for common features and tensions in between them. Practical part defines research questions and sums up findings of semi-structures interviews with pastors - graduates of the coaching training after several years. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the process of planning the patients discharge from acute care to after care to provide the best care possible with focus on the need of the inpatient. The first part of the thesis explains the history and present state of connection between social and health areas but mainly deals with the position of medical social worker who connects both areas and who cares about discharge planning. Bereavement Care in Hospital

The topic of this Bachelor thesis is the bereavement care in hospitals, with focus on the situations that arise when a patient is expected to die. Firstly, the thesis explains the process of grieving and its phases. Then it looks at principles of self-help and support from non-professional and professional care services. Emphasizing the valuable function of a funeral in the process of dealing with loss of a close person. Secondly, the role of the hospital is explained, including the procedure of treatment of the dead body and the corresponding laws and settled practices. The thesis explains how the patient's death is communicated to the bereaved ones whilst still in hospital. Finally, a survey research was conducted in the Ústřední Vojenská Nemocnice hospital in Prague, with the goal of finding out the services offered to bereaved people. Basic Income and Its Possible Introduction in the Czech Republic

This dissertation concerns the concept of basic income. It explains what basic income is, how the idea to introduce it came about and describes its position in the world throughout history. It addresses the arguments in favour of and against introducing it. It deals with concepts that are related to basic income such as negative income tax, participatory income, partial basic income or participatory capital, and compares them to the basic income concept. It presents the experimental introduction of basic income, as it has already been seen across the world, or will be in the future. It also deals with the parameters of current social policy in the Czech Republic. It describes the current benefits that would be affected by the introduction of basic income.
