Regional differentiation of voting behaviour in Czechia

This thesis explores the regional differentiation of electoral behaviour and other topics in electoral geography in the Czech Republic. Electoral geography, which studies the geographic aspects of the organisation, process, and results of elections, for a long time developed mainly in Western societies given the absence of free elections in other countries. It began to develop in the Czech Republic in the 1990s and its goal was to explore the process of the transformation of society and the stabilisation of democracy, to compare electoral patterns observed in conditions of stable liberal democracies with the patterns found in transforming states, and to adapt them to the specific conditions of transition countries. Electoral geography focuses mainly on the spatial variations of electoral behaviour. It seeks to determine whether different patterns of electoral behaviour are based on the social structure of the population in the region, whether they are influenced by contextual factors, or whether it is a combination of both. Another important subject studied by electoral geography is the spatial patterns of representation, which however are usually studied in majoritarian electoral systems. Life in suburbia through the lens of its inhabitants: case study of a municipality in the hinterland of České Budějovice

The bachelor thesis is focused on study of residential satisfaction in the suburban zone of the city České Budějovice, where one of the biggest suburbanisation effects in Czechia are described. Survey method is used to investigate the level of residential satisfaction in the specific location of suburban zone of České Budějovice. As the case locality was chosen municipality Srubec, one of the biggest suburbs in České Budějovice hinterland. The main goal is to find people's level of residential satisfaction and describe which factors have the biggest influence on residential satisfaction in the locality and which factors have positive or negative influence on the satisfaction of the residents. The survey results show that people evaluate their life conditions in the examined locality very positively. The access to the core city and the nature are considered to be the biggest positives. On the other side the accessibility of the educational institutions or some facilities are evaluated negatively. Key words: residential satisfaction, suburbanisation, České Budějovice, Srubec

The report summarizes the results of the research project Social and Institutional Conditionality of Culture Development and Cultural Heritage Maintaining in the Regional Setting and its Exploitation for Effective Organisation of the Regional Cultural Activities. The main of the project was paid to research on relations between social, economic and political characteristics of the inhabitants and regional cultural distinctiveness; research on relations between characteristics of the institutions supporting or organising cultural activities, public administration particularly, as well as non-profit and private sector organisations, and impact of their activity on culture development, on cultural heritage accessibility and local democracy deepening; research on openness of these institutions toward themselves and toward general public, research on the practices supporting public participation in planning, organisation and realisation of cultural activities. In the last stage of the project, Methodology for creation of conceptual documents for culture development and tourism support using participatory approaches was developed.
Demographic Change in Central Europe. A socio - economic background analysis

The study provides a basic comparative demographic analysis of regions in the Central European area. It is particularly focused on population shrinkage and population ageing which is present at the regional level in all the countries in Central Europe.
