The possibilities of palliative care of adults in the district of Pribram and its continuity
Marková, Markéta ; Línková, Šárka (advisor) ; Otcová, Václava (referee)
In my thesis we were focusing on providing palliative care to adults in the district area of Pribram. The main goal was to map out real possibilities of palliative care and its availability and continuity for patients in the designated area. The main question of the research was: "What are the possibilities, availability and continuity of palliative care to adult patients in the area of Pribram?" As a secondary goal we wanted to find out the amount and process of using palliative care with selected general practitioners in the area. Additional question we asked was: "Is specialized palliative care in the district area available to all who need it?" Both our questions were answered and goals completed. To elaborate the topic we chose qualitative research using the method of grounded theory. After processing the theoretical part and creating semi-structured interviews, we addressed a total of 16 participants from three areas - general practitioners from the district, paramedics and all organizations in the district area that are offering specialized palliative care to adult patients. Due to the long lasting COVID 19 pandemic, in the end there were only 7 participants: 2 paramedics, 2 general practitioners and 3 head nurses from the organizations providing specialized palliative care. Where possible,...
Terminal extubation within DCD and its perception by ICU's health workers
Brendlová, Aneta ; Línková, Šárka (advisor) ; Maláska, Jan (referee)
Despite the fact that hundreds of transplants take place in the Czech Republic every year, hundreds of other patients will remain on the waiting list and not all them will undergo transplant that would save their lives. Absence of routine clinical practice of DCD may also play a role in this. If it will start to be a part of routine local transplant practice as well as DBD, the number of available organs for transplantation will go to increase. The aim of my work has been description of the DCD problematics in the Czech Republic and to find out how medical staff perceive the procedure of terminal extubation, which is part of the DCD process. My work has a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part I summarize the available information about DCD, including the course of the DCD process. Furthermore, the work deals with the process of terminal extubation, including perception of the terminal mechanical ventilation by medical staff. I carried out the research part of the work by using a quantitative method and it took place in two phases. The tool of the research method was a non-standardized questionnaire in both phases. Given that DCD is closely related to palliative care and termination of organ support for terminally ill patients, the first phase was to determine whether palliative...
Knowledge versus Usage of Suction Technique of Lower Respiratory Tract by Nurses in Intensive Care
Dingová, Michaela ; Línková, Šárka (advisor) ; Špatenková, Věra (referee)
The topic of the thesis "Knowledge versus Usage of Suction Technique of Lower Respiratory Tract by Nurses in Intensive Care" is the comparison of nurses' knowledge with practical actions during lower airway suctioning. To this end, the thesis is divided into several parts. The first part briefly describes the theoretical basis of the task, from patient preparation, through the performance of the task to the subsequent care of the patient. The next part of this thesis is the research part, for which two objectives were identified - to determine the effect of length of practice on knowledge of the lower airway suction procedure and to determine whether the suction procedure matches the nurses' knowledge. In the practical part a questionnaire survey is described to determine the level of nurses' theoretical knowledge and an observation to assess the level of practical performance. In the results, the null hypotheses were confirmed, namely, that the length of experience of critical care nurses/paramedics does not affect their knowledge of the lower airway suctioning procedure, and that the practical procedure of lower airway suctioning does not match the knowledge of the lower airway suctioning procedure of critical care nurses/paramedics. The recommendation for practice is to update the information...
