The effect of fitness exercises on physical fitness level of seniors
Ondrášková, Valerie ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Kálal, Jan (referee)
Functional body condition of senior is important for preserving his independence, mobility and overall for his better quality of living. This paper tries to investigate influence of "classical" fitness exercise and exercise with DNS components on the functional body condition of examined senior. This paper is also comparing, whether is one of the exercises more efficient. For this fitness program have attended 32 probands older 60 years (control group 17, DNS group 15). After physical examination of their functional body condition by The Senior Fitness Test Battery, they have attended 6 weeks training program (2 times a week, 60 minutes), followed by the control test. In this paper we found out statistically significant improvement in body condition in both groups and from the result implies, that both types of exercises are effective to improve body condition of seniors. However, between these groups, we were not able to prove any significant difference. Then we examined on the smaller group of probands (7 in each group) influence of these exercises programmes on improvement of static postural stability, measured by Balance Error Scoring System. In this test we did not prove any statistically significant difference between the control group and the DNS group neither. The main finding of this paper...
Current physiotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of phantom pain after amputations
Posekaná, Pavlína ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Kálal, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis is carried out in the form of research with the aim to summarize phantom limb pain issues in physiotherapeutic practice. The general part describes the causes of phantom pain origin in central and peripheral nervous system and summarizes facts about amputation as a surgical intervention, it's classification and possible complications. It also summarizes all familiar pharmacological and nonpharmacological medical approaches used for phantom limb pain treatment. The main part is focused on three currently most effective methods used to treat phantom limb pain in physiotherapy - mirror therapy, virtual reality and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. Next part of this thesis is two case interpretations of patients with lower limb amputation. Both patients undertake six weeks of mirror therapy and they described it's effect as positive. The efficiency has been evaluated according to a questionnaire.
Incidence and management of muscle imbalances in physically active and inactive populations: Objective rehabilitation solutions for populations with nonspecific back pain
Šmejkal, Jiří ; Zeman, Václav (advisor) ; Topolčan, Ondřej (referee) ; Kálal, Jan (referee)
v anglickém jazyce: Incidence and management of muscle imbalances in physically active and inactive populations: Objective rehabilitation solutions for populations with nonspecific back pain Summary Totally 258 patients with chronic low back pain aged 51,5 +8,4 years were treated for three weeks in the Rehabilitation Centre focused on lumbar back pain. We observed incidence of muscle dysbalances and accomplished their exact objectiveness using the Tergumed system. We tried to compare and solve their mutual influence during the rehabilitation treatment. We compared differences between physically active and physically inactive population, the impact of total motivation, age and other factors on the improvement of strenght, motion, dysbalances and total pain relief.Significant improvement of movement and muscle strenght p <0,001 were documented on the Tergumed in three weeks. The physically active population and patients motivated.by using the Tergumed preferred active exercises to passive therapy. We also observed improvement in finger-floor distance and reduction of pain, documented by the visual analogue scale, decrease in body weight and cholesterol level (p <0,001). In three- week observation nor significant changes in muscle dysbalance, neither their differences according to sex,age ,chronical...
Performance measuring of individuals with physical handicap
Vít, Ondřej ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Radvanský, Jiří (referee)
The thesis is focused on the measurement of the energy consumption during the locomotion of the mobility disabled (riding a wheelchair a walking with 2 point support - crutch). The probands were handicapped by partial amputation of lower limb based on the vascular cause which represents approximately 90 percent of all amputations done in the Czech Republic. The thesis also presents a brief classification of amputations according to the extent of the separation, the history of amputations and the main etiologic factors leading to amputation. In the result section the measured data are discussed. In the last part of the thesis, the conclusions are discussed and compared to information available from similar studies. Energy expenditure of driving in a wheelchair in people with lower limb amputation
Němeček, Pavel ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Špaňhelová, Šárka (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to determine the effect of driving in a wheelchair and walking on crutches on the energy expenditure and cardiopulmonary system in people with lower limb amputation. For this measurement we used a device Metamax 3B made by Cortex, functioning by measuring the concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the breathing air, and a sporttester made by Polar. On the basis of oxygen consumption is possible to determine an energy expenditure during the activity. Our study was attended by 11 probands (men), patient of long-term hospital in Motol Hospital. Nine probands were amputated from vascular causes, one from the traumatological causes and one from the other causes. Probands rode (or walked) for four minutes back and forth along the corridor thirty meters long. They were instructed to ride (walk) at a speed to fit their needstand to also keep the same pace for a defined period of time. Walking on crutches without prosthesis managed only three of the testing file. During the study, these values were measured: distance traveled, average speed, oxygen consumption (VO2, VO2/kg, VO2 peak), carbon dioxide output (VCO2), respiratory exchange ratio (RER), tidal volume (VT), breathing frequention (BF), minute ventilation (MV), heart rate (HR), energy expenditure and performance. In this work...

The effect of gait training with a prosthesis on stability and parameters in patients with thigh amputation
Tučková, Tereza ; Smékal, David (advisor) ; Kálal, Jan (referee)
Diploma thesis "Effect of gait school with prosthesis on stability and walking parameters of patients after transfemoral amputation deals with problems of patients after transfemoral amputation due to vascular etiology. It mentions elementary knowledge of rehabilitation after amputation of lower extremity. Furthermore, there are described main complications that amputation brings into the patient ́s life: pain associated with amputation, skin complications and psychological hardships. Emphasis is laid on gait and gait practice for patients with amputation. I further deal with deviations commonly observed on gait of these patients and with factors influencing the gait, including the influence of particular parts of the prosthesis on patients ́ gait. The practical part is dedicated to comparison of two different approaches to gait practice. The effect of these approaches is evaluated on the basis of results of two groups of patients. The results were gathered by examination on force plate, measurement of gait velocity, examination of gait cadence and evaluation of patients ́s gait videos. Furthermore, I use functional tests: LCI - 5, ABIS - R, ABC scale and PEQ. All of these examinations were performed at the beginning and in the end of patients ́ stay at the Clinic of rehabilitation in Hradec Králové. The...

Function of physical therapy in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine
Ondruszová, Lucie ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Schreier, Bronislav (referee)
This thesis called "Function of physical therapy in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine" firstly speaks about neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of peripheral nerves. This work also deals with symptomatology of peripheral nerve lesions and muscle dysfunctiones. It deals with indications of rehabilitation therapy including physical therapy by electrostimulation too. The aim of this thesis is to gather and make critical assessment of the piece of knowledge about objectification of physical therapy by electro stimulation. On the basis these piece of knowledge this work denominates crucial issue of objectification of electrostimulation and physical therapy as a whole. The aim of this thesis is to find out what are therapeutical possibilities of selective electrostimulatin in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine.
