Three-cylinder Engines
Kočvara, Antonín ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
The main purpose of this thesis is to summarize the progress of four-stroke straight-three engines from the beginning of their production to these days in perspective of parameters and construction. Another goal is to show reasons for their exploitation. The reasons of exploitation are mostly compared to four-cylinder engine and some of them are supported by a calculation. There is also a chapter showing force acting in power train and its influences on straight-three engines. The closing part is dealing with possible ways in future development of straight-three engines.
Performance optimisation of turbocharged engine for Formula Student
Application of plain bearings for four-stroke internal combustion engines
Šedo, Matej ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
Subject of this thesis are plain bearings and especially their application for four-stroke internal combustion engines. Thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part provides a basic description of plain bearings, their distribution and evolution. It also discusses their materials and the theory of hydrodynamic lubrication. The second part covers concept of sliding bearings in internal combustion engines and their load associated with the election of right material. It also includes description of particular application of plain bearings and the method of oil distribution. It handles the mounting of crankshaft and camshaft, piston pin, connecting rod and other places where sleeve bearings are use.
Crankcase Ventilation of the Internal Combustion Engine
Zavadil, Martin ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis has been written out as a literature review. This work is focused on crankcase ventilation systems of internal combustion engines. The aim was to describe the origin of bow-by in different parts of engine, the principle of operation of individual components and a description of design solution for different types of engines. The work also describes the differences between crankcase ventilation systems of motorcycles and trucks. The last chapter is a description of used design solution of crankcase ventilation system for the selected engine VW 2.0TDI. In conclusion the work outlines possible developments in the field. The work also includes image attachments approaching the issue and design solutions.
Single-Cylinder Four-Stroke Engine of a Motocross Motorcycle
Vacula, Jan ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on construction of one-cylinder four stroke engine designed for motocross competition. The target was create the 3D model, which has foundation on the thermodynamic simulation. Kinematics of timing mechanism was designed in Lotus Simulation. For checking the main bearings life calculation was performed.
Virtual Prototypes of Drivelines
Janoušek, Michal ; Dundálek, Radim (referee) ; Slimařík,, Dušan (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The thesis deals with computational modelling of heavy duty off-road vehicle driveline components. The thesis is divided to two main parts. The first part deals about modal analysis of selected driveline components. MBS computational study was performed based on modal analysis results. The second part of thesis deals with experimental verification of computational model. Pass-by noise and vibration measurement was performed. Measured signals were processed in frequency domain to find noise and vibration sources.
Topological Optimization of Steering Holder
Ženčák, Jan ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Ramík, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of steering holder for a race car in the category Formula Student using topology optimisation and analysis of this design. The objective of this thesis is gaining knowledge about topology optimisation and application of this knowledge to the design of a replacement of the steering gearbox and its holder.
BMW Eight-cylinder Vee-type Engines
Domský, Viktor ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis incorporates development of BMW Vee-type eight cylinder engines, made for normal, sports and race cars. In the first part there is history of BMW company and effect of legislation of the day, engine technology and their labelling. In the second part there is overview of engine development in chronological order. Interesting technical solutions, power output and applications are mentioned in engines part. Chosen engines are comprised with competition of the day.
Brake Pedal Design
Oravec, Peter ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Ramík, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on brake pedal design of Formula Student vehicle. The first part of thesis is focused on main parts of car’s brake systems. Main goal of thesis is to determine value of pedal ratio to gain optimal operating force acting on pedal. Low weight and functionality of the pedal were important factors affecting the research. The design of pedal arm and its holder was checked by final element method and was redesigned according to results.
