Title: Nutritional strategy for long-distance cross-country skiers Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to answer as the clearest as possible the following research questions: 1. How appropriate diet affects the internal environment of the body long-distance cross-country skiers? 2. What composition of the diet and supplements is most suitable for long-distance cross-country skiers? 3. When to start eating regime that will help competitors prepare the body for the completion of remote cross-country skiing? Methods: We used the research of czech and foreign literature. We searched the scientific studies related to our theme through the service Google Scholar. We also drew from licensed Internet databases (PubMed, SPORTDiscus, Scopus, ProQuest, OvidSP, JSTOR). Results: We found that long-distance cross-country skiers should follow the macronutrients and micronutrients content in connection with food intake. The ratios of nutrients taken depends on whether it is a period before the race, during the race or after its completion. However, a key role in all three phases perform carbohydrates. Optimal nutrition strategy should start no later than 1-3 days before the race. Keywords: sport, exercise, cross-country skiing, nutrition, food supplements, endurance, performance

Title: The Effect of Alcohol Ingestion on Maximal Treadmill Performance Objectives: The aim of this study was to assessed the effect of alcohol consumption before sport performance on the maximal running test and values of respiratory parameters. Methods: This study attended 7 girls age 21,3 ± 1,0 years which are active in sports. They had been running at the treadmill first time after intake of juice with alcohol in relation with their fat free mass and secondly only after intake of juice. This is called Switch replication design. Independent variable was ingestion of alcohol and dependent variables were maximal relative oxygen consumption, heart rate, minute ventilation and respiratory exchange ratio. Alcoholic history of each participant was detected. For this study were used treadmill ergometer Quasar (Cosmos, Germany), the metabolic analyser Metalyzer (Cortex, Germany) and the sporttester Polar. Results: Paired t-test was used for evaluation of the results. The measured values were not statistically significant with the level of significance 0,05. The measured values were individually evaluated in the same time and increase of minute ventilation was confirmed at 5 tested girls otherwise the effect of alcohol on maximal relative oxygen consumption and heart rate was not proved. The alcohol did...
Body composition in children of older school age
Náprstek, Tomáš ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Česák, Petr (referee)
The issue of obesity development with older children is still more and more up-to-date and that is why I focused on this topic in my bachelor's thesis which has both teoretical and practical part. In the Czech republic there are more and more obese children and children with unhealthy life style and lack of movement. These factors lead to individual's physical functions deteriorations, as well as static and locomotive apparatus exerting and last but not least to their bad psychical state. In this bachelor's thesis I will point out possible causes that lead to children's obesity. I will also deal with the effects of obesity and overweight on health and psyche of children with these chronic illnesses. Last but not least I will stress the prevention, e.g. sport activities - gymnastics. In the practical part I will find out how the elementary school pupils in Smečno and Klobouky are doing in the the field of healthy lifestyle and if the face food intake disorders, obesity, etc. Using the method of questionnaire I will find out how they spend their free time and if they have ever tried weight-reduction diet. The most important section of the practical part is measuring of the fat composition in the pupils' bodies. Using the machine Bodystat 1500M I lent at school, I measured their body fat, weight and...
