"Immense Beauty, Tremendous Trap": the Roman Journeys of Josef Svatopluk Machar and Jaroslav Durych

This thesis deals with the tradition of literary reflections on journeys to Rome and Italy by comparing two Czech essayistic travelogues that fall into this tradition - Josef Svatopluk Machar's Rome and Jaroslav Durych's Roman Journey. Both of these texts present very specific and contrasting representations of the traveller's experience and stay in the "eternal city". On the basis of the genre and Italian-travel contextualization of both works and the theoretical conceptualization of the two basic themes (the issue of movement in travel writing and the concept of Rome as a text or palimpsest), it was possible to analyze the common features of both works as well as significant differences in a comprehensive way. Both author-travelers bring with them to Rome their own, very specific and highly exacerbated view of Italy, history, art or religion, and these dispositions are strongly manifested in the way they elaborate their experience of travel and Rome in their texts. Josef Svatopluk Machar traverses Roman history, creating a strong opposition between antiquity and Christianity, and is completely captivated by Rome. Reinforced concrete slab supported on columns

The Bachelor thesis is aimed at calculating internal forces and assessing the reinforced concrete point-supported slab of the 1st floor of the department store. The moment coefficient method and the software method of the finite element method in the SCIA Engineer were selected for the calculation. The thesis also includes the design and assessment of the column and the foundation pad.
Residential building in Prague

The final thesis is focused on calculating internal forces and assessement of selected structural elements of apartment building in Prague. The software finite element method was selected for the calculation. Foundation slab and basement walls were assessment as „white tub“. Further was assessment aimed to basement column and ceiling slab of typical storey.
Sports motifs in Bohumil Hrabal's short stories

This thesis focuses on sports motifs in Bohumil Hrabal's short story collections. Its core is Hrabal's collections Perlička na dně and Pábitelé. The thesis examines the concept of sport in literature, the development and depiction of sport motifs in the Czech literary tradition. It then examines in more detail the sports motifs in the individual texts of both collections, points out the differences in the treatment of sport in Hrabal's work and notes the various contexts and roles that sport plays in Hrabal's stories.
Foreign stays of students from 1st generation of Goll's school

This presented work is focused on the topic of so called Goll's School. It pays its attention to the foreign stays of Jaroslav Goll's oldest students (Josef Pekař, Josef Vitezslav Simak, Jaroslav Bidlo and Ladislav Hofman), which are situated to the period of "long 19th century". The point of it was to show some concrete perspectives of examining the term "Goll's School", which does not have to be treated as just a methodological group. The main features are Jaroslav Goll as a charismatic tutor, his organization skills or social net of personal relations. These all eventually put together few historians, who are today known as Goll's School.
