Metodika pro identifikaci polymerních materiálů ve sbírkových předmětech stručně popisuje polymerní materiály, které mohou tvořit sbírkové předměty nebo jejich součásti a s nimiž se nejčastěji můžeme setkat v muzejních sbírkách. Metodika nabízí postup při identifikaci těchto materiálů od zcela neinvazivního průzkumu až po analýzu moderní instrumentální technikou. Upozorňuje na možná úskalí přípravy vzorku pro analýzu, uvádí výhody a limity konkrétních analytických metod, odkazuje na odbornou literaturu a dostupné komparační databáze spekter. V přílohách jsou uvedeny tabulky historických komerčních značek polymerních materiálů a také datace uvedení jednotlivých polymerů do průmyslové výroby The Methodology for the Identification of Polymeric Materials in Collection Objects briefly describes the polymeric materials that can form collection objects or their components and that are most commonly encountered in museum collections. The methodology offers a procedure for the identification of these materials, ranging from a completely non-invasive survey of archival documents to analysis by modern instrumental techniques – molecular spectroscopy methods. It points out the possible pitfalls of sample preparation for analysis, lists the advantages and limitations of specific analytical methods, and refers to professional literature and available comparative spectral databases. The appendices include tables of historical commercial brands of polymeric materials
