Cílem práce je posoudit úspěšnost podniků ve vybraných odvětvích na území Evropské unie prostřednictvím ukazatelů rentability. Konkrétně se jedná o rentabilitu vlastního kapitálu, rentabilitu celkového kapitálu v čisté podnikové podobě a rentabilitu celkového kapitálu v hrubé obecné podobě. Pro lepší porozumění byl proveden také rozklad na příčinné ukazatele. Nejúspěšnějším odvětvím byla Výroba usní a výrobků z usní. Naopak nejméně úspěšná byla Výroba koksu, jaderných paliv, rafinérské zpracování ropy. Úspěšné státy se nacházejí spíše na severu Evropy, ve státech jižní Evropy se podnikům dařilo méně. Česká republika dosahovala nadprůměrných výsledků ve všech ukazatelích. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the performance of companies in selected sectors across the European Union. Return on assets, EBIT profitability and return on equity were examined. For deeper understanding the decomposition was made. The best performing sector in terms of selected indicators turned out to be Manufacture of leather and leather products. The least profitable was Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel. Better performing countries were located in Northern Europe. Countries in Southern Europe showed on average poorer performance. The Czech Republic reported above average results in terms of all chosen indicators.
