Práce popisuje pozici Evropského parlamentu po volbách 2009. Tyto volby srovnává s předešlými z roku 2004, jak z hlediska předvolební kampaně, průběhu, tak i výsledků. Samostatně je pojednáno o průběhu voleb do Evropského parlamentu v České republice. Zaměřuje se na vývoj Evropského parlamentu od počátku po současnost, jeho funkce a pravomoci. Detailně rozebírá cestu k přímým volbám, jenž je poznamenána střetem vztahu jednoty a rozdílnosti i sílícím demokratickým deficitem. Zobrazuje politické strany Evropského parlamentu, které přispívají k vytváření evropského povědomí a k vyjadřování politické vůle občanů. The bachelor thesis describes the position of the European Parliament after the elections in 2009. The thesis compares the elections in 2009 with that one in 2004 in the light of the election campaign, process and results. Separately, it describes the election process to the elections to the European Parliament in the Czech Republic. The bachelor thesis is focused on development of the European Parliament from its beginnings up to the present time, its functions and competences. The thesis analyses the way to the direct elections in full details. It shows the political parties of the European Parliament, which contribute to formation of European awareness.
