Práce je rozdělena do tří tématických celků. První část se zabývá historickým vývojem vztahu VB k evropské integraci. V této části je popsán proces britského přístupu k ES, dále jsou zde charakterizovány hlavní problematické oblasti britského členství, jakým je zejména otázka výše britského příspěvku do společného rozpočtu ES. Je zde také popsána současná pozice VB v EU z hlediska vzájemného obchodu se zeměmi EU a názor britské veřejnosti týkající se prospěšnosti britského členství v EU. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na vývoj britského členství v EMU. Je zde popsán proces získání trvalé výjimky z účasti v třetí fázi EMU a dále pak vyhodnocení tzv. Pěti ekonomických testů, jejichž splněním VB podmiňuje své přistoupení k eurozóně. Třetí kapitola je zhodnocením britského přístupu k evropské integraci. The thesis is divided into three separate thematic units. The first chapter describes the historical development of the British attitude to the European integration. There is described the process of the engagement of the UK into the European Communities. The second chapter of the thesis provides the description of the involvement of the UK within the EMU. Further it describes the assessment of five economic tests and the potential consequences of British access to the Euro area. The third chapter deals with the overall description of British attitude to European integration.
