The Nature of Entrepreneurship: Society, the Individual and the Firm

Entrepreneurship is often perceived as a crucial component of economic growth and social development. Studies into entrepreneurship inform policy design, thus the diverse understanding of entrepreneurship among scholars can create confusion in policy design. The current state of the field of entrepreneurial research is examined in order to identify the need for a universal definition of entrepreneurship. After a synthesis and analysis of prior research is conducted to identify the various links in perspectives, a new definition and framework is suggested. The resulting framework sees entrepreneurship as an autocatalytic process of creation of meaning and the consequent retention of said meaning in the structure of a new venture. The elements of this framework (autocatalytic process, creation of meaning, and retention in structure) can be assigned varying degrees of importance corresponding to differing perspectives, while simultaneously ensuring the presence of each element. The developed framework can be used to better inform the decisions of scholars and policy makers, due to the uncovering of the complex relationships between society, individuals and firms.

Princip path dependency v kontextu transformace československé centrálně plánované ekonomiky

Tato práce se zaměřuje na ekonomický princip zvaný path dependency, popisující závislost aktuální ekonomické výkonnosti na historickém vývoji. Cílem práce je prověřit tento princip na změnách výkonu vlastnických práv v průběhu ekonomické a politické transformace z centrálně plánované ekonomiky bývalé ČSSR do kapitalistického zřízení v devadesátých letech. Vysvětlením tohoto principu a jeho zakotvením v teorii institucionální ekonomie, či konkrétněji institucionálního evolucionismu, se zabývá první část práce. Druhá část se věnuje popisu reálného socialismu s důrazem na podobu vlastnictví, respektive kvazi-vlastnictví. Podrobnější popis je věnován jednotným zemědělským družstvům coby hlavní podnikové formě zemědělského sektoru, na nichž jsou ukázány některé typické projevy kvazi-vlastnictví. Ve třetí části následuje vymezení několika významných projevů path dependency během transformace družstev, k čemuž je využito jednak teoretického základu z předchozích částí, jednak empirických zjištění ze dvou bývalých JZD. V závěru jsou poznatky zobecněny a je ukázáno, že se jedná o podstatný princip pro ekonomickou analýzu.

Proč utrácejí Spojené státy americké za zdravotnictví více než ostatní?

bakalářská práce bude institucionální analýzou historického vývoje zdravotnického systému Spojených států amerických od 30. let 20. století do současnosti. V rámci rozboru klíčových událostí politického rozhodování bude kladen důraz především na vliv politického kontextu v podobě politické kultury a legislativního procesu v USA. Práce se bude zakládat na přístupu historického institucionalismu a používat koncept path dependency. Cílem této práce je na základě historické analýzy a interpretace vývoje institucí zdravotní politiky v USA identifikovat klíčové události determinující současný stav systému amerického zdravotnictví a určit potenciální příčiny vysokých celkových výdajů na tento systém.
